Aluminium foil acts as a total barrier to light and oxygen (which cause fats to oxidise or become rancid), odours and flavours, moistness, and germs, it is used broadly in food and pharmaceutical packaging. The purpose of aluminium is to make long-life packs (aseptic processing|aseptic packaging) for drinks and dairy goods, which allows storing without refrigeration. Aluminium foil containers and trays are used to bake pies and to pack takeaway meals, ready snacks and long life pet foods.

Aluminium foil is widely sold into the consumer market, often in rolls of 500 mm (20 in) width and several metres in length. It is used for wrapping food in order to preserve it, for example, when storing leftover food in a refrigerator (where it serves the additional purpose of preventing odour exchange), when taking sandwiches on a journey, or when selling some kinds of take-away or fast food. Tex-Mex restaurants in the United States, for example, typically provide take-away burritos wrapped in aluminium foil.

Aluminium foils thicker than 25 μm (1 mil) are impermeable to oxygen and water. Foils thinner than this become slightly permeable due to minute pinholes caused by the production process.

Aluminium foil has a shiny side and a matte side. The shiny side is produced when the aluminium is rolled during the final pass. It is difficult to produce rollers with a gap fine enough to cope with the foil gauge, therefore, for the final pass, two sheets are rolled at the same time, doubling the thickness of the gauge at entry to the rollers. When the sheets are later separated, the inside surface is dull, and the outside surface is shiny. This difference in the finish has led to the perception that favouring a side has an effect when cooking. While many believe that the different properties keep heat out when wrapped with the shiny finish facing out, and keep heat in with the shiny finish facing inwards, the actual difference is imperceptible without instrumentation. The reflectivity of bright aluminium foil is 88% while dull embossed foil is about 80%.

Q: aluminum foil, water, air,a banana, notebook paper.im thinking that aluminum is mixture, water element, airelement, a bananaelement notebook paper mixture.please telll me if im rite thanks a bunch :)
Aluminium foil is a compond,_ [it makes up of more than 1 alluminium atom.] Water is a mixture_ [it makes up of 2 different atoms, hydrogen and oxygen.H2O.] Air is a mixture_ [it contains co2, co, o2, water, etc.] Banana is a mixture_ [It contains lots of componds and atoms, eg, K, N etc,] Paper is compound_ [Paper is primarily composed of the compound cellulose]
Q: So if you get hit with a taser i was wondering if you could transfer the electrons by touching someone else or something?
It's a flat cost regulated by using the town, I think it is presently $35 however probably a bit bit more nowSomeone picked up at JFK is charged the identical cost to at any place in long island.
Q: At the supermarket I was looking for parchment paper but the Reynolds Wrap non-stick sheets were all I found, and i wanted to know if there is a major difference between them or if they are basically the same? Thanks :)
There basically the same only the sheets are pre-cut, the roll of paper has to be cut like Saran Wrap or Aluminum foil I have sheets for small things and a roll so I can cut it into shapes or make smaller pieces.
Q: I have a bag of store bought corn dogsWill they get freezer burn if theyre in there for a long time? Whats a good wayto prevent them from doing that??
In a community college or university, is where you can start
Q: I need to make broccoli and cheese for Thanksgiving and I don't quite remember how to make it.I need to make alot of it? This is what I remember.I buy so many stalks of broccoli and boil it then cut them into bit size pieces and stick them in a ceramic thing in the oven and put the cheese on top to melt itMy question is, if I want to feed like 20 people, how many stalks of broccoli do I need, bags of cheese? How long do I boil it for? What temp does the oven go and how long do I keep it in there? Do I need to cover the dish with aluminum foil in the oven? I put mayo in the cheese to give it a good flavorI don't want a recipie just how to cook it, I'm a novice cooker and thanks!
Well, whenever I have broccoli and cheese, my mom cooks the broccoli first and puts the cheese onIt melts somewhat and then she puts it in the microwaveHow much broccoli is everybody going to eat? I would suggest 6+ bags of cheeseAt my house we go through 2-3 bags of cheese a month and there's 4 of us.
Q: We were having trouble with our dryer not drying normally and smelling like fireSo I did some investigating and found that in the vent hose there was not only lint, but water as wellAfter cleaning out the soggy mess, I read online that the hose may be too long for the fan to push all the lint out the length of the tubeAm I able to cut the tube to make it smaller and make it easier for the dryer? Will it still work?
Electron affinity is the flexibility released while a independent atom effective properties an electronElectron affinity has a tendency to strengthen to the suited top of the periodic tableSo the element to the backside-left maximum, which top right it somewhat is Si, silicon, is the least electron affinity.
Q: Is it the same as aluminum? I am doing an assignment on Iceland, and they are the largest producer of primary aluminum in the world per capita.
Aluminium that is produced from ore, as opposed to secondary aluminium which is produced from recycled aluminium products.
Q: Can you please show the balanced equations and all your cancelations!!?? Whatever that means!! Thanks you so much.Problem 1: Aluminum oxide is formed from the reaction of metallic aluminum with oxygen gasHow many moles of Aluminum are needed to form 3.4 moles of Aluminum oxide?Hint: This is a simple ratio problemJust use the molar ratio from the balanced equationThis was covered in 5.09Mass is not involved.Problem 2:Determine the number of grams of NH3 produced by the reaction of 3.5g of hydrogen gas with sufficient nitrogen gas(Check for diatomic elements)Use the flowchart below for help.
4Al + 3O2 - 2 Al2O3 Since it takes twice as many moles of Al to start than aluminum oxide are produced you would need 6.8 moles of AlN2 + 3 H2 - 2 NH3 3.5g/3m(2g/m) x/2moles(17g/mole) cancel the m in the bottom of the fraction on the left and the g on top and bottom of the fraction on the leftCancel the moles on the right side leaving g in your answerMultiply through by 34 (2 times 17) leaving x 34 ( 3.5)/6 19.8g
