- You could probably buy an adapter plug for your existing cable. Getting a whole new cable might very well mess with the machine itself, and be more expensive than a simple adapter. Just go to an electronics’ store, with the cable, (the bigger the better) and ask for a suitable adapter for it.

- Q: I have a Belkin Tune Cast II FM transmitter. The fuse in the DC car power cable is .5 A but it blows every time I plug it in. What is the correct fuse to use for this charger?
- Those transmitters are very low amp draw... as you noted 0.5 amps, which at 13 volts is about 7 watts of power... and even that sounds high for a portable electronic FM transmitter. With that little power, you probably have a faulty unit for a fuse to blow. I assume you are using an aux 12v power source in your car and the (cigarette lighter) adapter that came with the transmitter. Now most adapters are not fused, but yours might be, and you could open it up and just see what the number on the fuse is - probably 2.5 amps max. Radioshack carries replacements for those small fuses. Considering that the car's fuse rating on most aux power sources is about 15 amps, your transmitter could not possibly draw that much unless there were a problem. The problem may lie in the aux power socket or in the adapter itself. I'd start by trying something else with an adapter - such as a cell phone charger. If plugging that into the same socket blows the fuse (in your car's fuse panel) then its probably the socket. If however it works fine, then the problem lies the adapter on your transmitter; which = return that and get a new one. I have seen many adapters with bad design that shorted easily and blow the car's fuse. Pray that its the adapter and not the socket.

- If you don't have a six pin PCI-E connector, then chances are your power supply is not power enough for the card but if it is, you connect BOTH of the 4 pin connectors, no just 1

- yes. Resistance, and therefore voltage drop, is inversely proportional to the square of the radius or diameter. in other words, cut the diameter in half to 3 mm, the current capability would be 1/4 or 6 amps. 25/4 = 6.25, and square root of that is 2.5, and 6mm/2.5 = 2.4 mm, using only voltage drop considerations. If temperature in the wire is important, it gets more complicated, as you have to consider physical size of the wire, insulation type and thickness, etc. Of course wiring codes would override all this.

- Make sure all the cords are properly hooked up properly. I recently bought a new PSU and forgot the most important cord, the main board. Also, make sure the cord for turning on or off the computer didn't come off the motherboard. If that isn't attached, no signal will be sent to turn on the computer.
- Q: Hello,We are having a problem with our power cable and that being that most time whenever we insert the power cable into the back of the laptop the orange light at the front of the laptop does not always light up. We think the problem lays with the power cable, because it has been tugged and dropped before on many occasion.So, is it possible to buy a power cable for our Toshiba laptop, and we have retained the sticker. We think that the Toshiba part no is PA3396E-1ACA and the model no is PA-1650-02.So is it possible to buy a new power cable?
- It is possible that your cable may have some broken wires inside that are causing your problem, or it may be the board as mentioned above. The board that is being referenced is the power connector inside your laptop and it's connection to the system board. What can happen is the electrical connections (solder joints) from the connector to the board become broken/loose and you have an intermittent connection. I have re-soldered these for friends when theirs go bad, otherwise a replacement system board would be required. I have also seen where the small leaf spring contact inside the connector becomes flattened and has poor contact as well (if this is the type of connector you have). You could check this with a good light and look inside the hole, there should be a center pin contact and a leaf contact along one side that should come down about halfway into the hole to the pin. To test where the problem is, connect your cord to your laptop, now hold the connection very still at the connector and wiggle, twist, push, and bend the cable at various points to see if the light at the front of the computer goes on or off. Now also test the plug at the computer by carefully moving it up, down, around in various ways to see if the light goes on or off. Wherever you find your problem is where you'll need to fix. If it is the power cable, yes, you should be able to buy a replacement. Try Toshiba's website or google the numbers you have to see what turns up. Hope that helps explain things better. Best of luck.

- the cable is connected to your power supply - you don't get a separate cable with your hdd - usually those power cords have 2+ connectors so just see which one fits (one of them might already be connected to your dvd drive or w/e)
