- You can never have more than 1 atm in a vacuum system. Obviously the more vacuum you generate, the better it will clean. Most vacuum cleaners probably produce between 50-80 inches of water vacuum.

- Orecks are decent vacuums, but you have to understand their not as powerful as other vacuums because they have a small motor which allows them to be so lightweight. But overall a good vacuum.

- NO upright vacuum cleaner on the market will do a really terriffic job of cleaning the edges of carpet or flooring close to walls, furniture, etc. I've been repairing these things, all makes and models for over 35 years, and I can tell you with certainty that edge cleaning is nothing more than hype, by the vac companies. The best method to get the dirt and dust around the edges of your carpets is a hose attachment and a crevice tool or dust brush. Buying a high amperage vac is doing nothing more than spending more money for more electricity to run the vac motor. There are several vac's available that make tremendous vacuum with 6 - 8 amps, while there are many vac's advertising 12 - 14 amp motors that make less vacuum with less air flow. As for the Dyson, that's a real rip. The ads talk about not losing vacuum because they don't have filters to clog. I'm curious then, as to why my parts distributor lists 12 different filters for Dyson's. ???
- Q:i turn it on,it emits this stink like warm spoiled cheese. i never used it for anything other than my carpet,and i never used it to clean anything wet. and the machine isn't even a year old yet. i purchased it brand new.
- Cleaning the hose i detach it from the machine and provided that it's not a current carrying hose what i do is a partially fill the hose with warm water and dish soap then i move the ends up and down to swish the water through the hose be sure to rinse it out with water and then if you can blow it out or hang it up and do not use it till it's dry

- I would go with one attached to your furnace. Most thermostats have a setting that will make the fan run continuously, not just when heat or ac is called for. I think that would be cheaper to buy, run and replace filters for than trying to run several small portable units. We had a Hoover upright with HEPA filter that seemed to work pretty well for a mid-priced vacuum. Bert

- Q:Ok so our Dyson hoover has finally given up. We want a new hoover that isn't as heavy as a Dyson. We tried the smaller Dyson's today but they aren't powerful enough because we have 2 pets you see. So we tested the HOOVER DM6228 and that seemed ok. Any reviews or any recommendations of vacuum cleaners? I live in Britain by the way.
- My wife LOVES vacuums (we've owned a lot!). The best by far has been the Oreck. Lightweight and it cleans well. Our Dyson crapped out after only a year and my wife never liked it anyway (too heavy)
