Q:The tile is attached to sheetrock and I don‘t want to damage the sheetrock by ripping off the old tile.
NO!!!! the top tile will crack if you do that do not do that it will be super expensive to get it fixed
Q:I am looking for some shiny gold 1 in tiles i need about 50-60 can anybody help me out. I would prefer ceramic cause they are gonna be used in a floor but ill take suggestions too.
check out a tile outlet store, id give a few names but i dont know if i'm allowed ,, also id think about going with porcelain tiles,,just for the fact that if 1 happens to chip,, the color is set the same the hole way through the tile, instead of just on the top, then u dont have to replace it
Q:i have vinyl tile in my dinning room(high traffic) its new but its not brillant ,and i saw a mantenance guy last night in wallmart using a buffer machine to pollish the tile..my question what kind of pad the used?they use any quimical with this pad?..how often this treatment its needed?
Getting the old tiles up would be a chore. as quickly as you have them bumped off and the floor prepped for the vinyl tiles, mark out the development with chalk line. consistently attempt and have all your cuts on the least considered nook or wall. additionally degree for the midsection of the room and commence there so with any luck the tiles are almost even on the partitions. you will additionally choose for to get vinyl adhesive. The tiles won't arise without it, yet they do tend to slip around whilst setting up them. And a foul seem or nook can throw off the finished factor and seem adverse. in simple terms wait and notice and make the effort.
Q:I‘m installing 13x13 floor tile on a slab. Any tips on how to do it right
If your not overly familiar with doing tile a diagonal isn t the easiest to start on. Lay out and proper tools are a big help in your preplanning. Right size trowel and large enough wet saw and had cutter is a must. Get the longest straight site line and split the room in 1/2 with a chalk line. Lay tile back to the wall and figure the size of pc(pcs) you need. You can cut a few of these pcs as a starting point. Knowing you split the room you should be equal when you get to the other side. A perfect straight edge will help keep your lines straight. Use this on all sides as you build out from that wall and lay as though your doing a straight lay just that your on a 45 degree. Or if you are doing an open ended area , you can cut several tiles in 1/2 and work back. A bit trickier but overall look is better. Don t cut tiles directly in 1/2, you must cut just off center if this is a starting point. Very hard to do and takes experience. Any specific questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:Can you put ceramic tile over the commercial grade hard plastic vinyl tile? It would be really hard to break up off the floor. It is stuck on there really good.
Technically this is not the best way to do it, but I did this at my last house and it was a hell of lot easier then tearing up the floor and having to put boards underneath and then tile. I would recommend just tiling the vinyl if the floor is 100% level.
Q:We are thinking of putting nonporous wall tile on walls in our kitchen ... even above the stove. The tile there may get some splatter from cooking so I‘m wondering how difficult is it to clan a nonporous tile? I am assuming it is fairly easy, but would love to hear what the community thinks.
Nonporous tile is very easy to clean. You can remove grease and grime with regular dishwashing liquid...just a drop on a clean sponge. Scrub with this and wipe with a clean wet rag. I think you'll like the tiles. Nonporous tiles are a piece of cake to keep clean. -
Q:i have just put down adhesive floor tiles in my bathroom, do i now need to use an extra sealant/pvc wash to seal the joins between the tiles as my kids enjoy splashing in the bath and i dont want the floor ( pvc sealed boards ) to lift if water gets in the gaps?
Vinyl tiles are not a very good flooring for bathrooms. Sheet vinyl is 100 times better. I'd replace them totally, its better to do that, than get warped floor boards and a stained ceiling. Sorry to say this, but I'm a professional floor layer and I fit these tiles aswell as sheet vinyl, and I advise customers against the tiles, their cheap and easy to install, but they are a mediocre flooring.
Q:We recently had new porcelain tile installed on our guest bath floor, and we‘d like to clean it regularly without harming the tiles and grout. The tile installer had no recommendations about this process, nor did the tile company where we made the purchase. Researching this info is very confusing. Some sites recommend using only a wet mop, while others claim that vinegar diluted in water is appropriate; others advise using some type of manufactured cleaning product. We know that regular sweeping is necessary, but we‘re unsure which products to use to protect our new floor. If you suggest a wet mop, please advise which is best: Shark, Eureka, Bissell, etc. Thanks for any detailed advice you can provide.
I am going to assume that the grout has been sealed. If your tile installer did not seal the grout you should demand he come back and finish the job. It is a must. After the grout has been sealed, any type of cleaner that has any type of acid in it will strip out the sealer. Your tile and grout will be clean of everything including sealer. Which means you will have to do it again. So, first off I use and recommend StoneTech Professional Impregnator Pro. Some sealers sit on the surface of the grout and are apt to peel off. Impregnators actually penetrate the grout and seal it from within. Second, I use and recommend StoneTech Professional All Purpose Stone and Tile Cleaner. It operates like any other cleaner. Dilute it in warm water as per instructions and it both cleans the tile and grout and will not interfere with the sealer. To keep up with the sealing, I believe StoneTech recommends re-sealing every 3-5 years. This is purely a guideline. You'll know it's time to re-seal when, as your mopping or getting out of the shower and the floor gets wet, the grout will change color. This means that the sealer has worn out and the grout is getting wet.
Q:I don‘t want to take my tiles off my bathroom walls, but i would like to put some mosaic tiles up, can i put them on top of existing tiles
Yes you can.Left over or broken tiles can be used to make unique and beautiful mosaic designs rather than just getting thrown away.
Q:What is the difference between tiles and ceramic tiles?
The difference between tiles and tiles is mainly due to water absorption. Water absorption is generally less than 0.5% for the tile, more than 10% for the ceramic tiles, between the two for the semi-porcelain. Usually a variety of polished tiles, glazed tiles, most of the sanitary ware is porcelain, water absorption is generally ≤ 0.5%; antique tiles, small tiles (to climb the wall), crystal tiles, wear-resistant tiles, Stoneware tiles, that is, semi-ceramic tile, water absorption 0.5% tiles, ceramic tubes, decorative tile, glass products are generally ceramic, water absorption> 10%. This is the important difference between tiles and ceramics
