Q:I'm trying to tighten the electrical wires on my car.Do I just use pliers and twist them tighter? Can I use my hands?-tightening the wires on my ignition switch and starterNeed to know asapNo B.S. just need to know how
Why you want to tighten the wires? If you meant position it, I would use zip ties, pull the electrical wire tight is not a good idea.
Q:Is it possible for a wire to arc with a nail? The u-nail that hangs the wire to a wooden support beam looks like it was hammered in too far and may have cut through the insulation around the wire. Is this a fire hazard or can I leave it as is?
Hello, anytime the insulation is broken on the line it can be a potential fire hazard, and yes they can arc or short out. The potential may not be large but with fire it safer to err on the side of caution. Codes vary around the country so check there, but we typically pull the staple and determine how deeply the insulation is really compromised, if it is only through the external shielding an in-expensive way to safely repair it is with a shrink tube type of product. However, if any of the internal strands have been compromised the line would need to be cut and a junction box installed and the wire spliced back together inside the box. Hope this helps:-)
Q:If I knew which wires went to trim, rpms, engine hours,ect... I could follow them. The engine wiring harnes is stil intact, but I dont know which wire goes to each no matter which end I look at. Like I said wiring is no problem, don't know motors.
get a repair manual.in the back it will give you the wiring diagram for everything on your car the color codes too. you will spend some time matching them up but at least you wilol know what is what
Q:hey im wiring up a headunit to my L300 van. The factory headunit wasnt there and im having trouble connecting which colour wires to the factory colour wires. if anyone knows which coulours go to what would be much appreciatedcheers.
Hi does anyone knows where the stereo looms connect back to .i.e. fused?
Q:for a kids robot kitabout a 4 inch black wire--other side is red...the tip broke off--i tried to strip it---but the rest of the wire is copper colored and thinner--the end had a harder silver tipwhat is a wire like this called--would radio shack have it--i can't seem to find it on their website
It okorder /... What you now have is stranded wire that has been tinned on one end. A tinned wire is one that has been soldered to keep the strands together and make for a stronger connection. If the wire must be flexible then replace with stranded wire. Solid wire will be easier for you to work with but not will not work as well if the wire moves a lot. Additional Yes you could solder the wires if there is enough to hook to. The size wire I think you are talking about can be soldered with about any small soldering iron and resin core solder. You might even slip a piece of heat shrink tubing over the wire before you solder the wire. After making the connection you can slide the heat shrink tubing in place, heat the tube to insulate the connection.
Q:The application is a bathroom light and exhaust fan combination. The fixtures wires are thiner than the supply wires. Should I wrap the thinner wire around the thicker wire or should I wrap them equally around each other? Then can I put a drop of solder on before I put the wire nut. Or is solder not a good idea?
If you are using a good grade of wire nut ( The inside of the wire nut is metal) soldering isn't necessary....It won't hurt anything but not necessary....Thomas Betts makes a good wirenut
Q:From my ceiling fan I have the following wires: green, white, blue and blackFrom my ceiling I have a bunch of wire in each of these colours: brown, red and orange.Which wires do I connect with each other??
These are all probably hot-side wires. If you have the knowledge and the tools, find out which wire or wires is/are hot in the box with the switch off. If you have no idea what I am talking about, you REALLY need to find someone who knows electricity. BTW, the wires in the fan are quite simple to decode. The green wire is the ground and attaches to either the box or a ground wire in the box. The white wire is the neutral and attaches to the white wires in the box. The black is the hot lead for the fan and the blue is the hot lead for the light. These two can be combined if you have only one wall switch. Where they attach in the box will be determined by which hot lead is switched. I can probably guess how the box and switch are wired but I may be wrong and that would be dangerous. Call an electrician so you don't burn your house down.
Q:how we can predict the maximum load that stainless steel cable wire can achieved?
And if you refuse to believe the first answer, then Contact the manufacturer.
Q:Which television show is better, Oz or the Wire? Why?
