- Q: my speaker makes a fuzzy or static noise while the scene has high or low sound. I cut my wire in half because I bought a subwoofer and we didn't get the wires with it. So I cut it. After all I didn't need the wire for the subwoofer. Could my speakers make such noises because of cutting a wire?
- Shortening your speaker wire will not cause this problem. In fact, shortening your speaker wires should give you less static since there is less resistance. Most than likely, it's not your speakers causing the static sound, but your amplifier or receiver. You may be looking for a new one soon.
- Q: wiring has ceramic poles
- You need to replace the wiring. Be care-full, if the old wiring has insulation on it, it most likely is asbestos.
- Q: I purchased a wiring harness to install an aftermarket receiver in my 2000 Chevy Cavalier, also. I have lost the insert that came with the harness and as such I am at a loss as to how to wire my receiver to the harness.help

- Q: I have 12/3 wire running from the breaker box on a 20 amp breaker that powers a bathroom (2 lights and 2 receptacles). I want to splice into this and run 14/2 wire into the living room to run 6 recessed lights. Is this OK to do?
- No, that is against code. Splicing is not allowed nor can you use a lesser gauge on a circuit. To clarify: splicing exposes otherwise insulated wire. The splice has to be done properly such that no wire is exposed, the splice is hardened and this is achieved using a junction box of NEMA appropriate to the installation conditions. A 20A circuit for a bathroom means there is an exhaust fan since a couple of lamps and receptacles do not normally call for that much. That means the circuit has to be able to support 20A and that means the entire circuit. If you extend the circuit using lesser gauge wire than you downgrade the circuit's ability to handle current. This is a fire risk and is a strict no-no.
- Q: Coming from my ceiling I have a black, a grey, 2 white, 2 bare and a red wire. Coming from my ceiling fan/light fixture is a green, black, black with a white stripe and a white wire. How exactly would I go about wiring this? It is a two switch setup without a remote.Thank you in advance.
- You have too many wires coming from the ceiling, as it could have done (for separate fan and light control) with a black, red, white, and ground (like 14/3 w/ground romex). Someone apparently added a second run of wire up there. Up at the fan, determine which wire on the fan runs the motor, likely a black fan wire, and which powers the lights (likely a blue fan wire). Connect each to its own switch, preferably using the black you have for the fan, and say the red for the lights, tie the whites together, and the bare together. And the grey just gets ignored. This is gonna be good...
- Q: How do current carrying wires produce magnetism... Explain, give sites and clarify.
- i'm uncertain we've a sparkling theoretical answer to this in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it relatively is a demonstrable actuality that shifting expenses have an result on different shifting or movable expenses.even while there is not any internet fee glaring it relatively is summarized as magnetism
- Q: I am trying to replace a GFCI outlet, there are 6 wires -3 White, 2 Black Ground. I have tried to wire it several times and indicator light comes on but it doesn't trip or work when something is plugged in. It's in a box with 2 light switches and I believe feeds down to another switch plug because they are currently not working. As well as my microwave which is on the same circuit. So long story short how do I wire this thing?
- You need to find which set of wires is the feed 1st. Turn off breaker for that circuit disconnect wires . Then turn breaker back on . Which black wire is hot ? Remember which black wire has power. Then shut off breaker again . The black wire that is hot gets connected to your line voltage connection side ( Gold screw on outlet ) the white wire goes to the other line voltage side ( Silver screw ) . The other black and white wire gets connected to the load side of the GFI . If the screws are all the same color for some reason . Remember the longer slot is always the neutral or white wire . The smaller slot is the black or hot wire . Ground to the green screw .Turn breaker back on and test .
- Q: Ok. so i wired my cd deck into my 92 buick, but everytime i start the car i have to manually turn on the cd deck. i also have to change the settings everytime! and once i turn off the car the setting will not save and the setting will be lost. Now everytime i turn my car on i have to manually put the settings again! this did not happen in my old car! and i think it might be the wiring! Because the last cd deck i had did save the settings! and would turn thge cd player on everytime i turned on my car!! and it would play the track back, right where i left off. please help! i did attach the yellow cable wire the red cable to the battery current.? is there a problem!
- sparky is right. The yellow wire keeps the memory, and should have constant power even when the ignition is off. The red wire should have power only when the ignition is on. If the radio is left on when you turn the car off, it will come back on when you start the car, but only if the radio keeps constant power on the yellow wire. For your car: The constant power wire should be orange (connect to radio's yellow wire) The switched power wire should be yellow (connect to radio's red wire)
- Q: I got molds done a while back for my finishing wires on my braces. I'm getting them Tuesday, but I'm not really sure what the difference is between finishing wires and the wires I have now. So I'd be delighted if someone could explain:) Also, after you get finishing wires, about how much longer is it until you get your braces off? And, would you recommend the wire retainers, or the clear ones? Why? Thanks in advance!
- Finishing wires are for the final stage of braces. They are pretty strong wires that snap tightly into your brackets so the orthodontist can finely control the teeth and line everything up nicely. I can't say how long until you get your braces off...that's kind of a case by case basis. Typically the wire retainers are better than the clear ones from a hygiene perspective. They can also be adjusted unlike the plastic ones.
- Q: have a kenmore dryer with 3 wires now had it will not dry need info on wiring it so it will dry
- Here is a picture of the wiring for a 3 wire cord. If this doesn't solve the problem, you may have issues with the receptacle. Just out of curiosity, have you checked the vent hose? If it's clogged with lint, the dryer won't be able to breathe, and therefore won't dry. Good luck.
