- Q:thats how my after market stereo is hooked up..i just got a system and was wondering if i join the remote wire to the accessory would it be ok? even if the accessory is already joined with the illumination
- You need to first disconnect the accesory wire on the aftermarket radio from the illumination wire from the car harness if you are using hose connection to turn on the radio. You need to connect the accesory wire from the aftermarket radio to the accesory wire from the car radio harness, if you are using a wire harness then it would be the red wire and if the factory radio harness is cut then u'll need a test light to locate the accesory wire. On the aftermarket radio harness/plug locate the blue/white wire that's where u will need to connect the remote wire to, in order to turn your amp on and off. Don't connect the remote wire to the illumination wire from the car, or the radio harness.

- Q:I am installing an amp in my '04 Chevy crew cab truck and am running new wire for the speakers. I was able to get the fronts wired but when I broke into the back doors there is a feedthrough connector where I need to put the wires through. I am sure this connector contains the wires for my windows, door lights and the current speaker wires. My question is how do I get my new 18 gauge wires through to the speakers, am I missing something?Thanks in advance!!
- You can do a couple things, fish a stiffer wire through with your wire taped securely to it or , i hate to say this but you could tape two wires( your speaker wire, and a replacement wire) and cut one , and pull the two thru taped to the cut one. then reattach the cut ones ends to the replacement.Thats provided the one u might cut can move freely back and fourth.
- Q:Okay, i put a cd player in my Integra wrong in the first place an i blew my headlights, dash lights, and taillights. Are there separate wiring harness/ for the motor and interior? I have a B-series, I'm looking at a B-series Wiring Harness online an is that what i need? Or is there a separate interior wiring harness i need to make my lights work again? Help would be appreciated.

- These are all probably hot-side wires. If you have the knowledge and the tools, find out which wire or wires is/are hot in the box with the switch off. If you have no idea what I am talking about, you REALLY need to find someone who knows electricity. BTW, the wires in the fan are quite simple to decode. The green wire is the ground and attaches to either the box or a ground wire in the box. The white wire is the neutral and attaches to the white wires in the box. The black is the hot lead for the fan and the blue is the hot lead for the light. These two can be combined if you have only one wall switch. Where they attach in the box will be determined by which hot lead is switched. I can probably guess how the box and switch are wired but I may be wrong and that would be dangerous. Call an electrician so you don't burn your house down.
- Q:When wiring an aftermarket car stereo, do you always match color to like color? Also do you have to use every wire from the wire harness?
- Assuming the head unit follows the standard color code (there are some cheap Chinese import units that don't) then you should match the head unit wire colors to the harness wire colors. There are a few extra rules, though: -If the harness has a blue wire, and the head unit only has blue/white (no blue), then the blue harness wire should be connected to the blue/white head unit wire. If the harness has a blue/white AND a blue wire, then both of them should be connected to the head unit's blue/white wire. Similarly, if the head unit has only a blue wire and no blue/white, then it should be connected to the blue and the blue/white wires in the harness. -Orange and orange/white can be treated as interchangeable; ie, an orange/white head unit wire can be connected to an orange harness wire, and vice-versa. (If the harness has both an orange and orange/white, though, don't combine them--just use one or the other with the head unit). -Some harnesses have a black/white wire; this can usually be combined with the black ground wire. -Brown and orange/black wires in harnesses should be taped off individually and not connected to anything. -Some harnesses don't have a black ground wire. In this case, the black wire from the head unit will need to be grounded somewhere else. There will usually be wires left over. Make sure each one is insulated so it can't cause a short or contact another wire.

- Wire comes in different gages, as well as colors. But if it is copper it will work.
- Q:Please help. I am trying to fit a new light into a house with old wiring.My new light just has a connection block with 1 blue wire and 1 brown wire. When I removed the old light there are 5 wires coming from the ceiling. 1 black and 1 red coming from one lead and 1 black and 1 red coming from the other. Any ideas how I wire this up. Many thanks.
- You have very old wiring if you only have 2 pairs of black and red wires in the ceiling. A modern installation will contain a third pair and also have green/yellow (or bare copper) earth conductors too. The following instructions will make your light work but you should get your wiring checked as soon as possible to bring it up to modern safety standards. One of the cables in the ceiling is carrying your supply current from the fuse box, the other is coming from the switch. You must connect the red wires together with a secure plastic joint block. This will send Live current down to the switch. Connect one of the blacks to the blue wire in the light fitting. This will make the Neutral connection to the light. Connect the other black to the brown wire of the light fitting. This will be the Live connection from the switch. If you have any green and green/yellow wires then you must connect these together because they are the earths. Make absolutely sure that you thoroughly insulate your joint blocks with electricians tape before you secure the fitting to the ceiling.
- Q:How do you wire a 2 wire smoke detector directly to an alarm (no panel). The terminals are numbered 1,2,3,4 and the instructions say that 1 is for DC+ and 2 is for DC-. How do I wire an alarm so when the detector senses smoke, the alarm goes off? Thank you.
- you would have to have a dc transformer, but what it appears that is to be wired into a home sec system. I may be wrong what is 3/4 for?
