Q:i have a 1998 chrysler cirrus and some of my door locks wont close when you push the button on the door or the control sometimes they do sometimes they don't what part would be bad and what is it called
actuator but to save yourself some time. use the switch on the passenger side door and see if they work. if it works that side and not the other. it's a switch. if not it's the actuator 40$ at the dealer and about 25 min to install if you have the hands of a 5 year old. and realistically 1 hr to swap out.
Q:how do cold temps affect older automatic garage door openers?
cold temps really don't affect the openers as much as it does the garage door, which in turns makes the opener work harder. I usually try to tell my customers to make sure that they oil (not grease or any type of spray grease because it gets stiffer as the temp gets colder) with an oil can and regular motor oil. oil all the rollers pulley wheels and or bearings twice a year, right before winter and right after winter because the cold temps make everything on the door work harder. disconnect your door from your opener and see how it works buy hand, it should be rather easy to lift - not heavy. if so, it may need some tension added to the springs. with the door unhooked oil all rollers and pulley wheels. open and close your door 5-6 times to work in the oil. give them all another little shot of oil. open/close your door couple more times. your door should be running smoothly now. check for worn out roller and pulley wheels. if bad replace them. hook your door back up to the opener and see how it works now. the rule of thumb - the easier the door works the longer the opener will last.
Q:If so, what kind of grease and where do you put it? Mine is making quite a bit of noise which makes me think I should be doing something.
If a chain drive, any chain lube will do...if Screw type, bearing grease.
Q:My mom's automatic garage door was fine for years, then started slamming down with enough force to cause fatal injuries. The owner of the home is my brother and he has his own key but doesn't live here. He claims the adjustments (which need a flathead screwdriver to adjust) simply moved on their own causing the thing to damage the car and almost injure us...can this happen? It never did before. Help.
I'd suspect that the springs that support/counterweight the door have weakened with age. The opener doesn't have much to do with how hard the door comes down. You can set how much force is applied before the door reverses but even the most powerful garage door opener doesn't really apply lethal force. Try disconnecting the door from the opener. It has a release to allow opening the door in the event of a power failure. It should be possible to open the door with your fingertips if the springs are OK.
Q:The recent incidents involving severe fires on TX4s raise questions about automatic door-locking on London black cabs. If I understand correctly, the doors automatically lock when the driver uses the accelerator and unlock when the brake is applied. I know that the The recent incidents involving severe fires on TX4s raises questions about automatic door-locking on London black cabs. If I understand correctly, the doors automatically lock when the driver uses the accelerator and unlock when the brake is applied. Since unlocking the doors requires action by the driver, doesn't this put the passenger at risk in such emergencies ? I know that TX4s have been taken out of service but the dangers of automatic door-locking still apply.
Apparently it is a motion sensor (not the driver using the accelerator) that causes the doors to lock, and when the vehicle comes to a halt the doors unlock *unless* the driver presses the brake. LTI, the manufacturer of the TX4, has recently issued a statement: The door locking system on the London taxi works through motion sensors so that when the vehicle is in motion the locks in the passenger compartment operate to prevent the doors from being opened from inside the taxi. When the vehicle is not in motion the doors can be opened unless the driver depresses the brake pedal in which case the doors remain locked from the inside of the passenger compartment. In normal operating circumstances the rear passenger compartment door locking system is designed so that the door can be opened from the outside and overrides the vehicles motion locking system. In the event of a fire causing electrical failure the motion locking system would fail and would not engage the rear passenger door locking thus allowing the rear passengers to exit the vehicle. The passengers would also still be able to open or break the rear window and open the doors using the outside handle. In some circumstances, although this is not usual, a driver might engage the manual central door locking system. In this instance, a passenger is still able to disengage the central door locking by flipping the lever by the door handle clearly marked “unlock” and then is able to exit the vehicle in the same conditions as above.
Q:I've followed the instructions in the owners manual where it says to have your car ignition in the on position, then within ten seconds shift to park and press/hold the door luck button for at least 5 seconds. It says that when the function has been set, the doors will unlock & lock. I've tried this multiple times (both with the car engine on & off, with the doors locked & unlocked), but nothing seems to work. I'm just wondering if anyone else out there has run into the same problem and if so, how did you fix it?
I have just the opposite problem. I bought the Le with premium package and I need to turn headlights on. Yet my 2010 corolla they turned on automatically.
Q:The garage has no windows or doors
Did you try Open sesame? Kidding. I assume you don't have the remote, and there's no keypad on the outside wall? Or some older ones had just a key slot? No? I've heard that some locksmiths or garage door pros have a universal transmitter. Which is like a master key for AGD transmitters. Whether it's true or not, I don't know. I've never needed one. But the theory is sound. I can't think of any other way, without seeing it, other than cutting through the door carefully and repairing it. If you can reach the release cord somehow, that would work too. Good luck.
Q:What is the motor device of the induction automatic door?
The motor is controlled by the motherboard is not the motor running alone
Q:Automatic door is how to do when someone came to the door?
Mainly by the door above the sensor, the sensor is generally two, a far-infrared, a microwave, far infrared light affected by the relatively large, so not stable, microwave self-induction moving objects can not Induction of prohibited objects, that is, if you stand in the middle of the door does not move, the door will automatically shut up to hold you, then the best way is to install the microwave sensor and then in the middle of the door to install a set of infrared on the radio Closing the door. Microwave sensors are currently more popular, and far out of the basic infrared has been eliminated.
Q:I have an automatic 455 doorman garage door, it came with the house. I cannot find any websites for this company. I need a garage door opener. What would be the most compatible one?
