Q:Went and got a stereo installed everything worked fine b4 now my clock dome light and trunk lights do not work I drove my car to my mechanic and they checked my fuses they are fine they said to go back and ask the people who installed my stereo system if they would pay for iti paid $430 for this system and all it was, was a new cd/mp3 player and sub/ampi already had to go back because the sub they gave me had a patchthey replaced it .btw when they were done with it my SRS light was on i sat and waited 2 hours for them to finally turn it off and i waited for them to try and fix the clock for them to tell me its probably not even worth fixing after i told them it worked before I‘m pretty angryso my question is am I stuck with the bill or should I ask them to help pay it or all?

Take it back and tell them, don't ask, tell them, to fix your clock, dome light and trunk light. If they can't or won't, tell them to remove the stereo they installed, put everything back like it was, and refund your $430. If they refuse to do that, go speak to an attorney about it and let the attorney speak for you with those people.

Which model do you have? If it is one of the older models and is out of warrenty I would recommend opening it up and cleaning out any dust that might have built up in there and maybe buying some Arctic Silver and apply it to the CPU and GPU just to make sure. There are tutorials on youtube how to do this, look for gilksy.

Q:I removed the instrument panel on my car to change the lights. I realized that I needed a part so I drove the car, without the instrument panel, to the store (I used a GPS as a speedometer). When I hooked it all back up the air bag light blinks a few times, then goes solid. I have checked to make sure there were no loose wires or connectors near the steering wheel or instrument panel. Would the light stay on because the instrument panel was missing? How can I fix this? The auto parts stores in the area do not have computer scanners that can read the airbag codes.

Gotta give ur car info but most of the time if it is a newer car you will need to have a airbag scanner tool. Call local body shops and see if one might have one. If not there on OKorder for different cars for like $300.00. Also look online sometimes there was to reset it your self.

Once you replaced the gas cap you need to have the code erased from the computer. the code wont go away, it is stored in your computer like a hard fault. Get the code erased and see if it comes back, if it does read the code again and go from there.

Many problems can cause the check engine light to come on. The white smoke from the exhaust may be due to a problem with the engine management system, or coolant leaking into the cylinders (the last problem would be very expensive to fix). It may or may not be related to the check engine light. Try going to an auto parts store which, for free, may hook your car up to an analyzer that can display the diagnostic codes. That would tell you why the light is coming on. Note: the comment in another answer to this question stating that only a mechanic with special equipment can detect engine faults on a BMW is wrong. Any scanner can read and display basic OBD II codes. A local Autozone did that for my 2004 745li for free, and stores of that kind can often find why the check engine light is on by doing so. BMW dealers and indie shops have equipment that reads the proprietary codes, but the expense of doing that may be unnecessary.

The check engine light comes on when a sensor reads out of the allowable range. It could have been caused by something simple, such as not turning the car off when you were getting fuel (setting an evaporative emissions system code), or it could have been caused by an engine misfire, or other problem. Have the computer scanned for codes, many auto parts chains will do this for free. The code will tell you what the problem is.

Q:I have a 99 honda civic EX auto, coolant keeps disappearing in the res. tank and I keep getting air in the cooling system. I have replaced the radiator hose, therostat and flushed coolant. I believe there isnt any coolant leaks outside/ no smell of coolant. Car does not overheat and runs fine. No smoke coming out of exhaust when running hot or cold.Car does have a radiator that looks like it came out of a different car cause factory or auto zone radiator cap wont fit it.
