Q:I have a 1995 Honda Civic LX 1.5L that needs the water pump and timing belt replaced. What all part do I need to order to replace all of that?
HOW MANY MILES! This is a TOUGH CALL because a CONTINENTAL TIMING KIT for a HONDA is about $200 with NEW WATER PUMP PULLEYS and and BELT! A HIGH MILEAGE HONDA from taht year may bend a few VALVES if the belt breaks BEFROE you repalce it! Thsi wil requrie a NEW HEAD GASKET and a few new VALVES! AT this time NEW VALVE SEALS can be installed! An independent shop can do ALL THIS for about $1400-1500! he BELT KI is like waht I said here! OTHERWISE use ONLY GENUINE HONDA PARTS int here! teh CONINENAL kits are GREAT and made to HONDA PRECISION as well! PULLEYS and ENSIONERS are involved in thsi process, and only GENUINE HONDA COOLAN should be used ONLY! NO PRESTONE! Stay away from VALVOLINE OIL as well, it is made by WAX REDUCTION METHOD!
Q:My 2000 Chevy Cavalier (2.4L) has been overheating pretty majorly (within a 10 minute drive!) when it's been super cold out, about 5F. I took it to the shop and they told me it was my water pump. Right after getting out of the shop, the problem went away for an entire week and the car's temperature has been at exactly what it's been for years - never past 195. It seems to be back now, though not as severe. It's about 20F now.Could the weather have to do with this??Why would the problem go away like that?I'm female and definitely do not seem educated walking into a shop so they can really tell me anything and I'll buy it. I just wanna see if the problem going away like that makes any sense, or if I should just wait out long trips until it warms up outside. It doesn't look like I'm losing coolant, though my low coolant light goes in and out.I have no idea. Thoughts?Thank you!!
The thermostat is on it's way out..and is sticking closed. Get a new thermostat installed and the engine coolant flushed and filled with a 50/50 mix. If it were the water pump you would have been loosing coolant and the problem would not have been intermittent. Take it to another shop as they are trying to rip you off for a water pump. Replacing a thermostat and flush is not that expensive ..
Q:I have a fairly new jetted tub. I stupidly used bubble bath 2 days before and have since read that it is not good, but just because of the amount of bubbles, not that it will actually harm the system. The electrical circuit is not tripped. I hear this clicking but the pump doesn't turn on. Any ideas? Do I need a new pump?
Also may want to check inside the access door underneath some have a cord plugged into a GFI receptacle that may be tripped. May want to check it just in case.
Q:My car overheats in hot temperatures I have try everything except replacing the water pump and radiator how can I tell when its time to change each one and is it a do-it-yourself job
Boomer is right in what to check first. but in this order. Check that the fan is working properly. Check that the radiator is clean and not clogged. Replace the thermostat. Replace the Water pump. Depending on the car/truck, is what dictates how hard it is to do. On older cars (a chevy 350) It takes 15 minutes for a novice to replace, On newer cars it varies greatly, as some are behind the timing belt and all other accesories,(plymouth breeze takes about 15hours for a novice) and some are just as easy as older cars.
Q:How long would it take before I would see water coming out of the exhaust bellow? I let it run for about 5 seconds or so and shut it of fearing it would burn up. Did this a few times and finally gave up. Pump wasn't hot and impeller was still good. Wondering if I just didn't let it run long enough?

Q:I am creating a project where I must pump water to a helmet. If you have any ideas, thoughts, solutions, diagrams, etc. please? thanks
your question is not clear, do you need to build the pump from scratch or you should find one? what is the water flow rate? how high the water need to go? what the helmet has to do with the problem? simplest solution will be to go to the store and buy small hand pump (for fuel).
Q:My water pump is broken and so far we can't get the fan off so we need instructions.

Q:we are trying to replace a water pump on our ford windstar mini van. my uncle cant figure it out and we can not get a manual until tomorrow. was wondering if anyone knew how. thanks
water pump are kind of difficult to replace you have to remove several parts to get to it. specially if is your uncle first time. my recommendation is if you want to do it yourself to save money, have some one (family member)that did it before, just in case. go to source i will post instructions look at Table of Contents or go all the way on the bottom of the page good luck
Q:I recently got the water pump replaced on a 99 Oldsmobile Intrigue GL (3.5L V6), and ever since the temperature gage seems to be running higher...between half way and the 3rd line, where before it was replaced it never got above the second line. It is doing this when I slow down and stop at lights. Once I get going the temperature does drop. Is this normal, or did they do something wrong?
There's a few different things that could be causing your problem. 1: Did they change the thermostat? If so, they may have replaced it with a defective one. If not, then it may need to be replaced. 2: What was the reason the water pump was replaced in the first place? if it was for any other reason than leaking then this could be causing your problem. 3: They might not have gotten all the air out of the system. when you drain all the water and then fill system back up, there are large air pockets in engine that must be bleed out. If not, these air pockets will get trapped behind the thermostat and cause the thermostat not to open when it's suppose to! 4: Are your cooling fans coming on? If not, you may have a bad temp sensor, causing your fans not to come on while you are stopped. This type of problem is hard to narrow with out seeing it in person. I would take it back to the place that replace your water pump and see if they can figure it out.
