Solar panels produce electricity. This one isn't very good. $500 for only 80W with such a large panel? It doesn't even come with a battery (car battery) If you're thinking of something to try and run your house off of, you'll need somewhere between 2 to 24 of these panels, plus a voltage converter and other equipment to connect it into the electrical system in your house. If you want something to help charge a cellphone, I guess this would work - if you could get the electrical connections set up properly - but it's still awfully expensive and won't give you a return on investment for somewhere between 5 to 20 years - by which time the panel will need to be replaced, and we'll (hopefully!) have more efficient panels available.
Q:How many Solar Panels do I need?
Everyday I use ,280 kWh 280 kW-hour / 24 hours = 470 kW WOW, that is a very high power level, most homes use an average of .2 kW. My guess is that you mean you use 280 kW-hour in a year, which comes to an average power of .3 kW, typical. Assuming you get, worse case, 6 hours of sun per day, for the first case, 470 kW, each solar panel generates the equivalent of 250 x6/24 = 60 watts, so you would need 470k/60 = 8000 panels For the second case, .3 kw or 300 watts, divided by 60 that is about 20 panels. Depending on where you live, you could need as much as twice that number. Plus you need charge controller, lots of expensive batteries, and an inverter. The big problem is periods of no sun. If you demand continuous power, and you have a period of, say, 24 hours with no sun because of storms, etc, then the number of batteries increases to the hundreds.
Q:how do buildings circulate energy?
The answer depends upon the type of solar energy captured . Photovoltaic Solar Panels convert the energy into electricity. This electricity is ran throughout the building via wires. Thermal Solar Panels typically capture the energy in the form of heat. The hot water is circulated through the building in water pipes.

The solution is, why not do it yourself. There are do-it-yourself guides that shows you step-by-step on how to make solar panels. They are very cheap too. All-in-all, it'll cost you less than $200. But be careful, you might find a DIY solar panel guide are not advisable to someone who don't have experience on them. There is one DIY solar panel guide that I can recommend. Q:Solar Energy Panel VS. Energy Efficient Bulbs?
get a voltage tester and test the output from the panel if it is a 24 volt output which is then inverted the reading should be that of the inverter. however if you solar panel installer installed an LCD panel that controls the electricity you can monitor any faults from the panel. Make sure that the panel you feel is not working is producing the same amount of electricity as the others. As for the bulb buy a new one from a different make and see what happens but by testing the output voltage and power you are bound to find the fault.. I have just thought of this the panels supply electricity to big batteries that then distributes power to all the house perhaps the battery supplying power to your room is faulty or the connections to the inverter might be faulty. BEST option if you can afford it because it will be expensive is to buy a solar monitoring system that control the panel and batteries you can even connect it to your laptop and control all the power.
Q:How do I get a grant passed for my school for solar panels?
You might do better looking at a more economical environmental project. In most parts of the US, solar panels simply don't pay for themselves over their equipment life. Schools won't be eligible for tax credits (since they don't pay taxes) and so solar panels will likely take more than 40 years to pay for themselves. The life of a solar panel is expected to be 25 years. You should, however, try to talk to the school board about things like solar water heating (which can have a very attractive payback) and light fixtures that have sockets such that they will only take compact flourescent bulbs and skylights to allow for less lighting use in classrooms and perhaps even ground source heat pumps for space heating.
