Q:I just had my car serviced about two months ago. I drive longs distances quite a bit, and I‘ve driven 1400 miles since I had my car serviced. But about a month ago the service engine soon light came on, and won‘t go off. I am thinking it might be a O2 censor or something but I don‘t know. And I don‘t have the money to go get it checked out, but if someone could give me advice, I can fix smaller stuff by myself (i.e. spark plugs, O2 censors, etc.). Does anyone have an idea of why this light won‘t go off?
Some of these folks are clueless. the service engine soon light comes on at different mileage intervals to remind you to take the car in for scheduled maintenance. It has nothing to do with the check engine light and problems. On Hondas, you push in and hold the trip reset button and then turn the key on until all the warning lights come on. In about 8 seconds or so, the service light will go out. Maybe your library will have a book on your car and let you know how to reset it. Or, find an owner's forum for your make of car and ask how to reset it.
Q:nothing is wrong with it other than the stupid light and the emissions people won‘t pass the car for me to get my tag because of the light.
Better go to Advance Auto Parts store and have your car scanned for problems, and then code(s) erased. Disconnect the battery will also erase the code and make the check engine light off. But you don't get the code(s). Most often the light on indicates something wrong in the engine/emission control system. If they did not pass your car's emission test, they should give you a test result indicating the code(s) or reason. If the light were on for no reason, I am afraid you might have a malfunctional ECM (engine computer). Immediately after you have erased the code(s), you can not pass the emission test if it is 96 or later model. You need to drive it for some miles, say about 100 miles and then your car's emission control system will be READY for test. If the malfunction is caused by an oxigen sensor, most often, after about 20 miles, and before your car is ready for retest, the check engine light will be on again; if it is catalyst converter efficiency below threshold, also quite a lot, you can drive a few hundred miles before the light comes back. Q:I have a '07 Corolla CE. I have made no modifications to the original motor, transmission, etc. I have noticed that my heater is not nearly as strong as it was in the first few years of owning the car. Of the 4 available strengths that the heat blow normally the 1st one barely has any effect. Generally the 2nd is okay but not great. The only time it seems to be generally working okay is when I am on the highway and at a cruising speed of 60+mph. I have noticed the same thing in the summer when using my air conditioner though it seems to be even weaker. I usually have to use 3 if not the 4th highest setting of strength to get a comfortable feeling within the car. Though in the A/C's case it does seem that it is speed affected. What are the likely causes and fixes for this situation. If you happen to know what the price range of the fix would be as well it would be appreciated.
Mark32937 answered it perfect! Your car probably has a low, medium, medium high and high setting for the speed of your blower motor. If any of these do not work then it's almost a guaranteed blower motor resistor. Very cheap and autozone offers a lifetime warrantee for them. But be careful installing, they are fragile. Secondly, like the others said, your A/C will always blow cooler when in motion. This is so because your condenser acts as a small radiator for your refrigerant. If theres no air flow to dissipate the heat from your condenser, the A/C won't be as cold. Hope this helps!
Q:I have a 2000 Mustang (V6) and the check engine light is on. I took it do Advance auto to have it checked and they told me the code is P0411 and it says Secondary Air Injection System Incorrect Flow.I called a Ford dealer and they of course told me to bring it up there for them to charge me 200.00 just to look at the thing. They said it could be one of several different problems. The car seems to be driving just fine but the light is bothersome. Could someone please tell me what might be wrong with the car.Thank you!
tha air injection system is basicly a air pump that is ran of the engine that sends fresh air either to the front of the catalytic to help bring it to operating temp, or directly in to the catalytic to help reduce emissions. This code could mean that the pump may be defective, the hoses or pipes from the pump is defective or a sensor that makes the decision on where to send the air is defective.
Q:I own a Ford Freestyle 2005. All the indicator lights came on. It started with check charge system, battery, then all indicator light came on. The engine speed dropped from 50 to 30 MPG. Driving back home i see check engine light and check tranny. Anyone can tell me what can be the problem? Please? Some told me it could be the motor mount. Any one else know?
The most efficient way to begin your diagnosis is to get to the nearest auto parts store and ask them to pull your computer codes. Most parts stores will do this for free. Once you have the codes, go home and do an online search for the cleaning and test procedures for each suspect component that appears in your code list. Never replace anything based solely on the report from a code reader or scanner. These devices are very helpful but cannot determine whether a component is defective or just dirty. Clean and test all suspect components then have the codes that you've addressed cleared from the computer by an auto parts store.

Maybe its just a maintenance light, not check engine light. If it is check engine Autozone probably doesn't use the best reader in the world. Dealer or reputable repair shop might have better luck.
Q:Last week when im driving my Check engine light and my ETS light come on at the same time. I went to Auto Zone and i checked the computer and the code that came up was P0420 it said that the catalyst system was preforming below efficiency bank 1. They said this is the O2 sensor and i replaced it and reset the computer and the light went off for 3 days. Then the same 2 lights came back and i didnt know what was going on. So now my car is going through about 1/8 a tank a day now. My buddy who works for a dealership says it might be the spark plugs that need to be replaced and i dont know if this will fix it (other problem is i know how to do this but im without a tourqe wrench so i cant do the job while im here in LA) So if there is any techs out there that work for GM and could lend a hand to let me know whats going on i would be greatfull. Q:I do installing for a living and i am stumped on what to do about this. I put a viper 350hv in my 2002 dodge intrepid. my car never came with key less entry. mind you that car had power locks already. if i manually lock the door with the switch on the inside of the car and shut the door my dome light will dim and go out but if i just shut the door and lock it with the vipers fob the it will lock and chip twice meaning it is overriding the dome light because it wont dim. there are two ways i can think of to fix it. one is to set the setting on the viper to auto arm 30 seconds after the last door is shut or fix the dome light problem. please help!
It is probably where you are heating the pipes. Heat a little away from joint and let heat draw the solder to it.
