- Q: For a while the little plastic handle on my car's dipstick has been broken, some of the handle is still on the stick. Today as I was changing my oil I tried to get the dipstick out but couldn't, after some tries I accidentally chipped off a bit of the plastic, causing the dipstick to slide down 1 inch into the tube. I have read that this is not necessarily a problem, but I'm still worried. I tried extracting it by super gluing one end of a small rod to the dipstick but have had no success. How can I extract the dipstick without having to see a mechanic?
- The actual tube the dipstick goes in will come out of your engine. If you can try to follow it down and see if there is a clamp holding it in. Some are just pressed in tho. Once you remove the clamp If there is one spin it back and forth while trying to pull it out. It may take a lot of force but try to do it with just your hands. You don't want to mess it up too. Once its out, before removing it all the way reach down to the bottom of it and feel for the dipstick. Hold a finger against it and remove both of them at the same time. It won't hurt leaving it like it is as the dip stick will just hit the bottom of the oil pan and won't go any farther, you just can't check your oil. That's reason enough for me to fix it tho. Hope this helps.
- Q: How do plastic tubes compare to fiberglass tubes in terms of strength?
- Plastic tubes generally have lower strength compared to fiberglass tubes. Fiberglass tubes are known for their high strength-to-weight ratio, superior stiffness, and resistance to bending and compression. On the other hand, plastic tubes are more flexible but tend to be less durable, making them less suitable for applications requiring high strength and structural integrity.
- Q: Are plastic tubes resistant to staining from food dyes?
- Yes, plastic tubes are generally resistant to staining from food dyes.
- Q: I already have a plastic water line with a on off switch coming up through the floor. I bought a new fridge and when they delivered it they said they could not install it because of the plastic tube- they said I had to change it- I've been to home depot etc and have no clue how to do it because everything else seems to be for the actual installation of a brand new line whereas in this case I need to know how to change the existing line. Any answers??
- You didn't say why it needs to be changed. If it takes a different size tubing, you will be running a new line. If the nut on the end of the tubing is not the correct one, you may be able to buy and install a new one. You would need to go to the parts section at HD. They have all types of connectors.
- Q: Can plastic tubes be used for storing cleaning agents or detergents?
- Yes, plastic tubes can be used for storing cleaning agents or detergents. Plastic tubes are commonly used for packaging various liquid products, including cleaning agents and detergents, due to their durability, versatility, and resistance to chemical reactions. They provide a reliable and convenient solution for storing and dispensing such products.
- Q: Can plastic tubes be used for hydroponics?
- Yes, plastic tubes can be used for hydroponics. In fact, they are commonly used as a cost-effective and efficient option for hydroponic systems. Plastic tubes are lightweight, durable, and resistant to corrosion, making them suitable for circulating nutrient-rich water to the plants' roots in a hydroponic setup.
- Q: Are plastic tubes UV resistant?
- Yes, plastic tubes can be made UV resistant by adding specific additives during the manufacturing process. These additives help protect the plastic from the harmful effects of UV radiation, making the tubes suitable for outdoor use without significant degradation or discoloration.
- Q: Our side-by-side, outside water and ice collector barely lets the water come out. We have plenty of ice because it usually never used. We did notice that the plastic tubing inside the refrigerator, is wrapped many, many times in a fairly large circle, plus, there is a kink in the tubing several inches before it disappears inside of the back of the refrigerator.Should I get rid of this extra, extra tubing, along with the kink? How many feet of this tubing should be inside the fridge? Thanks to all that answer.
- ours is rolled in the same position except there is no kink i just went and checked maybe thats why it dont come out good or maybe you have hard water and its clogged hope this helps you
- Q: Are plastic tubes suitable for electrical conduit systems?
