Q: I have an ASUS G1SN-X1 and my laptop was working normally while plugged in. Then all of a sudden it stopped charging the battery. After it stopped charging the laptop was running off the remaining battery power. The battery eventually runs out of juice but now i can't turn on my laptop because the power cord won't charge even though the power indicator light is on on the power cord supply. I even took out the battery and just left it plugged in but still wouldn't turn on. Any suggestions on what the problem could be and how to solve it?
Seems to be a short circuit. This is a common problem with Laptops, including Asus Laptops. I've had Dells, Asus, Lenovo, and HP laptops and each laptop's power cord has broken at least once. Unfortunately, you're out of luck. You will need to buy a new power cord, which could run you anywhere from $15-60, depending on the vendor
Q: I have had my ASUS laptop for just over 2 months, and I've realised the power cable whilst being securely in, and charging without a problem, feels slightly loose when wobbled. I know this isn't a problem at the moment, but is this right, should it feel slightly loose? It moves quite freely inside the socket of the laptop when moved
It should fit snuggly. Is it moved very frequently while plugged in? If so, this is the reason. As long as it makes a good connection and is 'slightly' loose, you should be alright. However, if I were you, I would ensure the lenght of the warranty and about 1-2 months before it expires, I'd bring it in and mention the cable is loose.
Q: Hi. I have a Marina Power Filter (Slimline S15) and the power cable that is connected to it appears to need to be submerged in the water. That doesn't seem safe at all but the instructions (although poorly written) seem to point to that being the case,Advice please.
It's safe as long as the cable and filter are not damaged. They whole unit is sealed in plastic so the water and electricity can't meet up. Ian
Q: The other day I found an imac g5 17computer in my alley. It probably doesn't work but I was just curious about what cables/accessories I need for it. All that was out there was the actual monitor/desktop. There were no cables with it. (By the way if you can't tell I am not experienced with computers)Thanks any info is appreciated!
Power cable, USB keyboard, USB mouse. That's it. Find a power cable (any old computer power cable will work) and see if it even powers on and does anything first. Crack it open. Set it on its face, then undo the three screws across the bottom. They do NOT come out. They only loosen up until you can't turn them anymore. The back pops off. Look for any swollen or leaking capacitors. If you find any, then it's junk. If you don't, then see if there's any RAM in it. If not, toss some PC3200 DDR RAM in there and see if you get anything.
Q: I live in the Arizona desert, on a flood plain. Most of the time things are pretty dry. But during monsoon season the area I live in experiences flooding. I am planning a shallow, square, sunken pond. The main pond will be 4.10' L x 4.11' W x 3' deep. I plan to build an 8wide wall around the pond to keep out flood water. The wall will be made of standard red bricks. I plan to make the wall 2-3 bricks high. This would make the wall itself around 5-7 inches tall. The foundation for the wall will be concrete. Do I need a waterproof concrete sealant for the foundation? I plan on installing a power cable for my submersible filter between the EPDM liner I plan to use, and the mortar for my brick wall. Should I use sand between the mortar and the cable to protect the cable from the mortar? The cable will be encased in PVC as well.Thank you.
You should use a concrete sealant, it can't hurt. Put the cable under the foundation in PVC and it will be fine.
Q: I bought one on OKorder and thought it was just a regular outlet power extension but it's not.. what is it used for? 10 points
It is used to either extend a power inlet cable (usually an IEC type), or connect the power outlet on a device to the power inlet on a device, where they use IEC connectors.
Q: Hey and just to start off with, your answer will be deeply appreciated, thanks..... Its about my PS3, when I was flying to Lebanon (which I am in now) my PS3 power cable got taken and thrown away by the airport officials the second time my bag was scanned.....so now I can't play any games because of this, it sucks goat balls, I know but my question is.... Where can I find another power cable..... P.S, my console was bought in Canada so the voltage was 120v I think but it was misbehaving when I used it with the converter I bought so I tried using without it and it worked like a charm on 240v, if that helps.... if there are any details I have missed out, my e-mail address is .uk
i have no idea what ur cable looks like, u should sue them lebanon people for wat they did and u should consider going to the nearest city, country or town that provides a wide variety of appliances, accessories and whatnot. if u still have no luck, order 1 from OKorder or have them send it to u from canada
Q: i have a modular power supply i lost my cables moving out of my old house. so can any one tell me where i can get new ones to my power supply:
I don't think you can, really... Modular power supplies come with cables, they are not one size fits all, every brand and even every model might have different cables and plugs. Contacting the manufacturer will be your best bet, but it might not be worth it, might as well just buy another power supply, it's only another $45 shipping and all.
Q: What happen's when you just yank the power cord out from the electronic (Computer or TV) while it is still running? Does it blow a fuse or something? And what should I do to fix whatever the problem is, assumming that the electronic doesn't turn on after i yank the power cord out?
Yanking a power cable out of a PC that's running, could lead to a voltage spike. This can fry your power supply, and possibly go further. (Motherboard, ram, graphics card) Same thing, with having a computer power cable plugged into a surge protector, and then plugging it into the power supply. YOU, can replace the components of a Personal Computer. It's too technical and dangerous to try it with a TV, unless you're a qualified tech, and have the required tools.
Q: I am missing pin 20 for my ATX motherboard power connector (which is normal). But I am also missing pinouts and a few wires from other connectors like PCI-e, Peripheral connectors, and even SATA connectors. But here is the thing, all the missing pinouts go INTO the POWER SUPPLY? So are all these intentional, or is it a flaw? Thanks!
It is very common for some pins in a standard connector to be unused on certain devices, especially power connections, because there are always redundant pins to the same power connection.
