FAQ

My '95 Ford Ranger has had the sound of a bearing going bad in a pulley for about two months. Finally this weekend I started it up and it must have locked up, the belt was squealing really loud and snapped. So, now the water pump pulley has rubber chunks on it, which would make me think that is the bad pulley. But the pulley spins perfectly, really smooth. The alternator pulley on the other hand does not spin perfectly. It is not really hard to spin, but it does not spin smoothly. And the alternator pulley is real clean, no rubber on it at all. Any thoughts? I was thinking of buying a cheap belt and putting it on there, have someone start the truck and watch under the hood to see which is bad.
not a good idea, find the bad part first, could be < idler pulley, tension, power steering pulley, air conditioner compressor pulley ( if it has air ) , alternator besides that, there ain't any CHEAP belts that i know of

I assume you're asking about a car water pump. Inside of the pump casing is an impeller (a disc or wheel with vanes). The impeller is connected to a shaft that's connected to a pulley wheel driven by the drive belt from another pulley wheel mounted on the engine shaft. The pump, the radiator and the hoses make up a water filled, enclosed system. As the pump rotates when the engine is running, it circulates the water around the system removing heat from the engine and giving up the heat to the atmosphere through the radiator. ....
Installation position of check valve for water pump
Check valves must be installed at the pump's exit and position before the outlet control valve for servicing the check valve.Jiang Yuanyuan 1985's statement has a problem:1. On the flow of water, because the fluid is continuous and incompressible, the water in any part of the pipe will not flow as long as it is cut off in any position in the pipe.2, self suction exhaust is formed within the pump in outlet pipe, check valve installed in the inlet, because the pressure is low, is not conducive to automatically open the check valve, and its resistance, easy to form a vacuum pump and cavitation.
My Toyota 2006 Sienna has 80K miles on it and I asked the dealer to inspect the vehicle. He suggested that i replace Timing Belt, Water Pump, Drive Belt and Trans Pan Gasket. The cost of the repair comes to $1300 ($460 for Timing Belt, $350 for Water Pump, $140 for Drive Belt $370 for Pan Gasket).I'm caught by surprise with the price quoted and things to be replaced. Is the price quoted reasonable? Are these replacement common for Sienna vehicle with 80K miles? I don't know what could possibly go wrong if these are not changed for couple of months. I have an extended warranty on the vehicle for 100K miles will any of the above get covered under warranty?Any suggestions or advice is highly appreciated/

How can we calculate the maximum pump pressure for chilled water system for a 20 story building
20 storey's, let's say 200 feet. 200 x 0.433 = 86.6 psi. at ground level and about 0psi at the top. The pump, in order to deliver water to the top would need a pressure in excess of 87 psi but, the volume of pumped water would need to be high enough to cope with a number of people using it at the same time as this will starve the upper storeys if insufficient. Generally, a tall building will have booster pump stations on other floors up the building to ensure adequate supply.
Can the water from the fire pump enter the roof fire tank? Why?
This should be divided into two cases, the key depends on the use of your water tank!If you fire water tank roof is a constant pressure water tank fire control system, the requirements must be set on the water tank outlet check valve, which can only flow from the tank outflow, then pump the water can not enter the roof fire water tank.If the roof fire water tank acts as a water transfer tank and uses it to transport water to a higher building, the fire pump water can enter the water tank
I did change water pump before but not on wv beetle?
These waterpumps do tend to go bad early - fault of crappy plastic impeller. Make sure to get a pump with a METAL impeller when you change it. They are available online. Also do the timing belt at the same time - saves you labor because you have it apart already to do the pump. Also you need to check out 2 forums:
I would like to pump water from a canal which is approx. 65ft from my existing sprinkler plumbing. the height of the water level on average is approx. 6ft from the surface of the ground. I will need about 35 psi to operate the sprinkler zones. would the following pump work given the lose of pressure?... Horsepower:1.5Voltage:110V 60hz 9.5AmpPower ( max ):1100 WMax Flow :330 L/Min (87 GPM)Suct Hmax9M(30ft)Max Head:18 MInlet/Outlet Size:1.5quot;RPM:3450
You did not say where you live and or what kind of canal it is. If this is an irrigation canal and they catch you pumping water out of it , you will be in for a great big surprise when the law shows up at your door with a very expensive ticket or fine. These canals are checked regularly for things like this and they do not put up with people stealing their water. Strongly suggest that you find out who owns the canal and contact them before you start pumping water from it. It could save you literally hundreds of dollars if not more in fines and fees.
