- Q:Ok, so I was driving the other day when I heard this quot;clunksound...my AC went out (stopped blowing cold), and power steering went out. I pulled over and one of the wheels where the serpentine belt goes on was off and obviously the belt was off too. I got it towed to a shop where they showed me I needed a new belt - it was ripped, and told me I need a new water pump...all together a 400 dollar job after labor and parts. I was hoping I would just need a new belt and they could bolt back on the wheel...From a chic standpoint, this seemed logical. I know nothing about cars and I'm always very skeptical when I take my car anywhere to get it worked on bc I could be told anything and wouldn't know the difference...Has anyone had a similar experience or does this sound like the problem? I have a 07 honda civic...around 80,000 miles.
- Price about right around $200.00 for all parts including new coolant.Plus labor. But a suggestion Honda had a recall on bad water pump pulleys in 06 maybe yours is covered under recall. Get vin number and call them, may get done for free, wouldn't hurt to ask. They'll need vin number and production date. If not a free job get estimate on repair from them to see if close to other one. Mileage doesn't matter if on recall list.
- Q:What is called soft start of water pump?
- Soft start is a form of electronic control, mainly through the soft drive to achieve. Principle: the former contactor is directly started as contactor, first pull in, and the device is started by soft driving. Soft start device start smoothly, starting current is small, control system life is long. Soft start is now in widespread use. But the use of high-power equipment is less, the general current is less than 120A.
- Q:I live in a condo building -- 3 floors, 7 units. In our storage units (right below my unit) is a water pump that was hooked up with the intent of helping the water flow to the 3rd floor. Everytime the pump goes off, it rattles, then makes a loud noise when it kicks off. The developers created a drywall box that houses the pump, which is surrounded by isolation, but it doesn't seem like it helps the noise. The pump also rattles the pipes that connect directly to the pump.My question is -- is this rattling normal for a standard water pump? If so, is there anything I can do to help cut down on the noise? If this is rattling is not normal of the standard water pump, what would it cost to replace it with something decent?
- I do not know the kind of pump you are referring to. I will give my personal expertise. If it is a pump taking water from a tank, the piping might be loose, the knocking may be corrected with some air ventilation pipe. If it is pumping from a water tank: I suggest you look at a submersible pump capable of supplying water to 3rd floor. This kind of pump is less noisy. The noise at start, is the electric starter, and the noise at the end is when water returns and seals the stop valve. Also some air may be in the pipe, you need to purge the pump, as often as needed, try this first, and then the others. Good luck
- Q:I have a '97 Chevy S-10 2.2 with 208K miles. Today on the way to work the heat cut out suddenly.I have had an issue with my engine where the temp will go up and down while on the highway but maxes out at like 215. Today after the heat cut out it was getting up near the redline before going back down to 150.I made sure the coolant was good before coming home but on the way home it was doing the same thing. I changed the thermostat but it's still doing the same thing. When I rev the engine I can see the upper radiator hose collapsing so it seems like there's a clog somewhere but I don't know how to find it. I guess it could be the water pump but then what is causing the suction on the upper radiator hose?Anyone have any ideas?
- You have a leak in a hose. I would suspect a heater hose or lower radiator hose. When you put water into the radiator, you still had air in the system, this prevents you from having the required amount of coolant in the system. Find the leak, fix the leak. Jack up the front of the truck to where the radiator cap is at the highest point in the system, then add coolant. Problem solved.
- Q:Okay so earlier, I went to go test out my water pump and all on my 66 mustang 302. And I got it up to normal operating temp, and had the rad cap off. I gave it some gas, the coolant level didn't go down, instead it came out the rad pretty badly. I've been having overheating problems, and I have no leaks, i just replaced the thermostat a few days ago, it didn't help. I haven't seen any leaks around the weep hole on the water pump, or noises. Other than a belt that does need to be tightened a bit, you can hear the belt squeling a tiny bit. So do yall think it could be my water pump?
- if at an idle you see coolant flowing in the radiator, the pump is ok... More info is needed here really, assuming you don't ever have to add coolant though... I'd flush the system... if you do add coolant and find no leaks around the engine (weep hole, hoses, freeze plug) check the passenger side floorboard for moisture, the heater core may be shot...
- Q:97 izusu rodeo has constant squeal after timing belt, water pump and all belts being replaced what could be the cause. It sounds pretty bad.
- I'm really sorry to here that you had to change so many parts without any result. my car developed such a problem and finally it was traced to guide pulley bearing. try to locate sound by keeping the hood open and listening from all sides. if in doubt you can take out the suspected belt and run engine - very short time if it is alternator. best of luck.
- Q:Hello! Can someone please tell me where the water pump is located on this vehicle? Or where I might find the answer to this question? Thanks!
- You see the big hose that enters your rad on the top well follow that hose and see were it comes from the engine..and that's the water pump..pretty simple thing to find my friend..good luck
- Q:I need a new timing belt and I'm getting that done soon, but my mechanic says that water pumps are usually replaced along with the timing belt at the same time. Does it really need replaced?
- not dont have to replace unless it was leaking it but it is off now and wouldnt cost anything in labor since hes taking it oof so get to what he need to fix but no it dont have to be replace til it leaks
- Q:Hi! I need to find out what kind of water pump I need to buy for an 1978 Swinger RV we just bought to refurbish. I've searched the internet, but nothing seems to tell me what kind I need.
- sarah, okorder and they can help u...but i'm sure sureflo sells the pump u need as its virtually universal. if its the engines water pump then we need to know who made the chassis; dodge or gm. under the hood in the front should be a metal tag saying dodge/fargo or general motors... if its a dodge, the only 2 engine choices for a motorhome are the 360 and the 440. the 360 has the distributor at the back of the motor straight up and the 440 has the distributor in the front of the motor tilting at about a 30* angle towards the pass side. if its a gm, there are 3 motor sizes possible; the 350/400 and the 454. the 350/400 has 4 bolt valve covers and the 454 has 7 bolt valve covers. hope this helps.
- Q:I am leaking antifreeze, but only when the car is sitting after it has been running for a while, and its quite frustrating..it's coming around where the hoses are, I just got the thermostat/thermostat housing replaced, and also the heater hose and it seems to be coming from the same general area AS those...My car doesn't leak all the time it seems, so I'm not sure what this could mean. It has not over heated, my ac isn't also working at all.I have taken it back to the mechanic two times in the last 2 days and they cannot determine it's having a leak or not..which is quite ridiculous!! It seems to them that they think I'm crazy or something, I just don't like to see antifreeze underneath my car, I mean who does? Does this sound like a water pump? Where exactly is the waterpump located?
- i would say its where you had ur stuff replaced before. They might not have the clamp on hosestight enough. Or the housing isnt tightened enough and or they overfilled especially with them not tightening it all up. Seen it happen alot. And it happens because they dont recheck for any leaks after the work is dne and make sure everything is all nice and tidey before they give it back to customer. If it was ur pump u would overheat and not have enough pressure to leak in any hoses or housings but only ur pump weep holes is where it would leak...
