Press fitting system joins pipe without welding or bolting. The components fit by crimping through the use of a special pressing tool. An O-ring that is inserted in the fitting ends of the pipe ensures a leak-proof connection. Press fitting system is the trend of pipeline industry. It is widely used in cold and hot water supply, heating supply, fire protection, medicinal gas, industrial petroleum pipeline system etc.

Also dig down around any pipes that come up out of ground as the ground freezes down a couple of feet, heat tape/insulate down about 2'. Block up any holes in skirting as cold wind is also a threat. Do it now, vs. trying to thaw out frozen pipes in zero weather. Have a good dependable outlet to plug heat tapes into.

Q:My smoke detector is wired and dont use batteries. I dont know why it keeps sounding about every 10 to 15 min. it will beep once.: I would always go with sweat if possible. I have used push (compression) fittings such as sharkbite only when there was water in the pipe that wouldn't go away or if a valve isn't holding.
