Q:How does the tile stick up? The benefits of stickers? What is the difference between sticky and wet stickers? Do i want to be thin
Want to thin point will wall flatness is good, the actual tile adhesive layer is less than 1cm; most of the thickness of the leveling layer, the general construction plaster 2 m error of about 1-1.5cm, then the actual paste tile gray The thickness of the need to reach 2-2.5cm, and then thin can not be friends, or paste in the glass is very flat on the basis of
Q:can you use marble tile for counter top
Counter Top. Marble tiles (although expensive) crack w/in time. Luckily they now have imatation marbel tiles. You should look into them.
Q:Is Tumble stones tiles a good selection for a kitchen backsplash and if so how often does it need to be sealed?
Stone tiles and I recommend sealing twice before installing . should not need to be sealed again w/ the newer penetrating sealers. This make a great backsplash in looks and durability. I have several picts of some I ve done over the years if you need an idea of how it ll look. The grout sealed 72 hrs after grouting giving the stone actually 3 coats. Been at it for 20+ years and never a problem Any questions you can e mail me thru my avatar and check my qualifications there GL
Q:My parents want to re-tile their bathroom. My dad says he can use regular tiles in the bathroom, bathroom being the floor and the open-shower walls(the only thing stopping the water spillage is plastic and fabric on a rail), but my mom says it needs bathroom tiles and bathroom grout for the job. Any help would definitely be appreciated!!!
I okorder /.. I tiled and grouted my parent's bathroom when I was 15... it's still looking good 40+ years later. One of the decisions that keep the appearance looking good was to pay very close attention to attaching the tile backer to the walls, and to use a colored grout on the floor. Keep all the grout sealed and you'll do fine.
Q:How many 4x4 tiles for the deck area of a bath tub?Total area of deck tub = 108 x 61 = 6588Total area of tub = 60 x 41.5 = 24906588 - 2490 = 4098 total deck areaCan someone please tell me how many tiles I need? I don‘t know where to go from here.
108x61 is same as 9ftx 5ft (close enough!) So--4 in. tiles would be 12 per sq ft--9x5 =45 x12 =540 tiles. Plus 54 for breakage. You should always add 10% for breakage. Unless tiles are very strong and can`t break easily when cutting to fit! But at least 10% gives you extra for future repair or mistakes when installing.
Q:I just bought a new houses that we will build. The decorator went through the selection of tile and want to charge us $9000 for 1500 sf surface and $6800 for a group 3 granite counter top with island. It feels a little pricy. Anybody have experience with new builder and want to expect for flooring and granite counter top?
Granite can be pricey but I would suggest taking the time to get several estimates for both. Some tile contractors can get you good prices depending on their connections but check references first. Go with the price that is more middle of the road.
Q:We have a big problem with our tiles in our bathroom, they wont stick. We have painted the floor with the pva. used (waterproof athesive) don‘t know if thats the correct name for it. my boyfriend has let his dad do the tiling as he knows how to do it. i told him to get a profesionals. but he wants he‘s dad. so now we have been having this problem. if any one knows what should we do or use different glue or something, that would really help., thanx
Go to the tile store and take a tile and the glue you used and ask for help.
Q:all ceraminc tiles, mounted in between to tiles maybe?
Your idea will not hold well and may be dangerous if you slip in shower and hit the shelf. Built-ins are better and safer.
Q:I‘m thinking about having a bathroom tiled. The bathroom is about 6 by 8 and right now the walls have a horrible pink and black alternating ceramic tile that goes up about 4 feet on the wall all the way around. All I want to do is replace this tile with a glass tile. I have no idea what the cost would be for materials and labor so any estimates would be appreciated. This is the only work I need done.
If you live near a Floor Decor Store, you should be able to find a decent glass tile for around $2.00/ square foot. Now, assuming it is on all four walls covering every bit of those walls, 4 ft. high, that would be about 112 square feet. Plus, you always need to buy around 15% waste. So, total you would need to buy 129 square ft. of tile. You also would need Mastic to put the tile on the wall, should cost you $50 or less for enough to tile the area you have. Labor should run you about $500-700 for the removal of the old tile and installation of the new tile. There is however one issue you might not have thought of. If you remove the old tile, it will most likely destroy the walls it is attached to. From the way it sounds, this is old tile that was installed using something called a mud bed. This is basically metal wire and weakened concrete. All of this will have to be removed and new sheet-rock or green board will have to be installed. The cost of this would run you another $600-800 in labor and materials. So your worst case scenario, would run you around $1800. If you happen to be in the Atlanta, I would be happy to take a look at the job. I have 10+ yrs. experience as Home Depot Certified Flooring Installer
