Q:Is the motorcycle's brake system the same as the car?
The principle is the same
Q:I'm 22 years old, and recently decided with the gas crunch and the fact that I don't really need a full size car, that a motorcycle would be the best bet for me. Problem is, I've never ridden before, and know next to nothing. Where should I start? I was thinking that I should just buy a cheap bike and learn, but I'm not sure. Any advice is welcome. :)
start out with a class , they usually will provide a bike to learn on to get you rolling. from there you could spend the money on a smaller bike while you're still in the learning phase, just tool around in an open area and practice your turning and stopping so you get used to how the bike responds to your own movement. once you get comfortable riding in that controled atmosphere, go ahead and hit some streets, (with light traffic and at least a permit for obvious reasons.)
Q:So i‘ve been riding for about a year, and I‘ve put about 2K miles down, so I‘m very comfortable with riding. Now my girlfriend is about 5‘4 and about 100 pounds at mostI ride a 1994 Yamaha FZR streetfighter, stage 2 jet, mods etc.Now her area is full of blind and very sharp turns where i actually have to turn, backup and turn to complete it, like they are at a 140 degree turn. Now I‘m a little nervous, because she dosent have insurance.AND my dick roomate keeps saying how difficult it is.I would LOVE tips, concerns, and ideas on this question. How difficult is riding with a passenger? How much harder is turning going to be? Shes riddin on the back of other bikes, so shes not to nervous but I‘ve never given a ride before.Any help is great help, Thanks!
those two are nothing alike, except the fact that they both have two wheels and you need to balance. in a motorcycle you need to be able to lean properly on corners or your tasting asphalt. and a motorcycle goes 100x faster than a bicycle will every go. a motorcycle also weighs a lot more than a bicycle. if your only experience is a bicycle and you want to get on a motorcycle (expecially anything bigger than a 500) you'll be dead in no time.
Q:im looking to do a suicide shift on my 2000 vulcan 1500, unfortunately a hydraulic foot clutch is almost a grand. can the rear brake master cylinder be used for the clutch or are the internals different?
On the Yamaha VMAX The rubber cup on the clutch master cylinder is different from the rubber cup on brake master cylinder. There must be a reason for it. I think you should use a clutch master cylinder instead.
Q:Which brand of motorcycle is good?
Jialing old brand
Q:I like the overall appearance of the Yamaha R6 and R1. This would be my first bike. I am a 30 year old female. I checked out insurance for the R1 and it is pretty high. As for the R6 it is very reasonable. I don‘t want to purchase the R6 and be disappointed in the performance, wishing I should have bought the R1.I drive an subaru STI and a built mustang. I love the power. I love the competition with guys as well. I think a girl on an R1 is way cooler than a girl on an R6. Anyway, will I be disappointed with the R6 or is it a great bike and I am just making too big of a deal out of this?As you can tell I love the R1 but it‘s just the insurance:(By the way.please don‘t be mean to me and please don‘t give me other option like Honda‘s or Suzuki‘s. My heart is set on Yamaha. Thanks!!
the words first bike say it all , buy an R1 and youll be dead in a week if your not experienced this is a full on racing machine id say if its your first a 600 is also too fast your looking at plus of 155 mph with deadly acceleration and yes awesome handling this isnt like a car the speed is much faster than a subaru in acceleration so take some care about the machine you choose its not like the old days when bikes just went about 130 for 750cc they have evolved a lot since the 80's, my advice as a motorcyclist of 26 years and motorcycle engineer is go for a 400 cc machine if its your first bike
Q:How do I shift? I was told that the bike is ‘four down - one up‘ (though a book I have says that all modern bikes here in the US are ‘four up-one down‘). How do I up and down shift through all the gears?
get thyself to a Motorcycle Safety Foundation class pronto. There they will teach you to ride and brake and turn and how the heck to avoid crashing. As well as have FUN! MSF classes can be found online or through you local Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Some insurance companies may offer discounts for completing the course. The Blast is great bike to learn how to ride, I did. ;-). I now ride a Triumph Tiger
Q:Can you add ABS braking to my motorcycle which is Honda VTX 1800.Is it advisable?
wow so who know wtf a knoc sensor does? its there to retard the timing not advance it to prevent engine knock. engine knock in this case is spark knock wich will cause poor fuel ecomomy and could lead to engine failer. You need to get this fixed
Q:I am getting a 03 Chevy Cavalier with warped rotors, and am wondering what it will cost to get this fixed.it has 130,000miles and this is the main thing that needs repair.
Rotors are $20-$30 each at the auto parts store. The disk pads are 20-40 bucks a pair. They are very easy to change and you can take it in and get it all done for under $150.00. If you know someone handy with cars, you can get it done for under $100.00. Wrapped rotors are not a big deal except the car shutters and vibrates when you stop. Its usually caused by the fact they are getting thin and the heat from normal stops caused them to wrap. when you take off your wheel, the rotor is loose and you remove two bolts and take off the caliber and the rotor just comes off. Its not even bolted on. So changing it isn't hard but you will probably want to check or change the disk pads while you have it apart. Look at a motorcycle front brake and its pretty much the same on a car.
