FAQ
- I have a small motor that runs on 4 D cell batteries.I want to replace the power with something smaller and lighter but i cna't find any information on what to replace them with
- Smaller lighter will mean less running time, if you go too small, you could start a fire. Bad idea.
- I need some advice on upgrading the electrical power on my .46 Hobbico Nexstar. Here's the situation: the battery I'm using right now is a Futaba 4 cell 4.8v that's about 3 years old. But it's kind of on its last legs- I charged it throughout the night, but it was dead when I got to the field. I still was able to quik-charge it up to 5.4 volts, and got 3 short flights in without any trouble. Now I charged it fully, and the reading is 5.52. Some people say it's the battery- others say it's the at-home charger (3 years old). Either way, I want to be sure that I'm not going to have one of those instances where the plane loses electrical power in midair and you can only watch helplessly as it keeps on going. What kind of battery should I go with? Charger?
- Get two new battery packs, a good quality charger, AND a battery cycler. The problem with most rechargables is 'partial charge memory'. NiCad or NiMH battery packs usually never really get totally discharged after a series of flying and begin to develop a short charge or partial charge memory. Useful output diminishes over time and the packs require CYCLING. Cycling is a regimen of totally discharging and recharging 3X. DO NOT TOTALLY DISCARGE LiPo packs, you'll kill them. Only do this to NiCad and NiMH. You can make a cheap discharger from a few 6vdc or 12vdc automotive turnsignal bulbs soldered to gether in parallel with a pack connector. Just plug it in and the bulbs will draw down all the power in your packs before recharging fully with your new peak charger. Hobbico has a nice little unit called a Field Charger. Good Luck! Nosedive
- I have a Dewalt battery pack (DW0242) for a sawsall that I want to rebuild/convert from nicd to nimh.
- I doubt it. You would need to modify the device and charger to work with the battery.
- As of right now I cannot find my camera's battery charger. As far as I know are no other batteries that can fit into the camera. This is the camera
- Sorry - The only way that the battery can be charged is only by the charger itself.
- do they make 18v batteries for it? If not how could i make one using an 18v lithium battery pack? Thanks
- It depends on the model. I doubt you can build one.
- If the lithium-ion batteries fail, inflight
- they have ratings on the side i.e. agrease fire bsomthing c for somthing else i cant remember them all but the most effeicent one is ABC
- i recently bought a laptop and i was instructed that the initial charging time for the battery should be 8 hurs, but there are some people to say that such is a thing of the past and li ions no longer need that long of an initial charging time.
- For the initial charge you need to charge it for 8-12 hrs. Then each time you charge it it will be fully charged in about an hour. The charge last a long time and the battery last a long time.
