Q: I have a gig with my band and we need something to use as an amp stand. i was thinking a foldable chair would work the best, help?
Most likely not, if it's a stage amp. You're going to be making a lot of noise (assumably for a long time!) and the vibrations tend to move things about, even things as big as amps on chairs. It'd just be better to lay it down on the floor. If you really want it risen above the ground, try using something more stable, like a table or stool.
Q: An 88 kg man sits in a 7 kg chair so that his weight is evenly distributed on the legs of the chair. Assume that each leg makes contact with the floor over a circular area with a radius of 1.5 cm. What is the pressure exerted on the floor by each leg?keep on getting this one wrong; I imagine you multiply the area times 4 because its 4 legs, and then once you've solved for everything divide by 4 again (to get the force on each leg).Enlighten me?
The total mass of the chair and the man is: m = m1 + m2 = (88 kg) + (7 kg) = 95 kg So, the total weight, and thus the total force of the legs on the floor is: F = W = mg = (95 kg)(9.8 m/s^2) = 931 N The area of each leg is: A1 = pi*r^2 = pi(1.5x10^-2 m)^2 = 7.07x10^-4 m^2 So, the total area is: A = 4*A1 = 4(7.07x10^-4 m^2) = 2.83x10^-3 m^2 Thus, the pressure exerted by each leg is: P = F/A = (931 N)/(2.83x10^-3 m^2) = 3.29x10^5 Pa
Q: ok so i was really pissed this morning at my parents and i was like throwing things around, slamming doors, etc.. and when i got up from sitting at a kitchen chair i kind of slammed it on the ground too hard and one of the legs broke off.. (i know i have anger issues) and now im freaking out. it wont stand up straight on its own but i think i might have an idea.. My mom made these covers for the chairs and they go all the way down to the ground so they would hide the broken leg. In our spare room theres another chair just like it and im thinking of just switching the chairs since no one even really sits in the spare room chair, and its in the corner so i could just prop it up on the wall so it wont fall over. Is this a good idea? I will probably tell my mom later, but right now is not a good time. Any other suggestions on what i should do???? Please no mean answers, i know this sounds bad.. Please and thank you!!
She likely will figure out pretty quickly you switched chairs and that will only add to the heat. Especially if the chairs are not the same make. Your best bet is to say you got up and accidently knocked the chair over and it broke. Being up front is going to suck but its the best way. Pull the bait and switch with the chairs and it will come back on you in a MUCH bigger way....
Q: I need to fill me bean bag chair but when i got it the zipper was melted shout, how do i open it?
If your chair does not have a zipper you will have to open a seam. Using a pair of scissors or a knife, carefully cut one of the stitches and then open the seam twelve to eighteen inches. The process of removing the beans can be messy. If you wish to save yourself some time, open up a large garbage bag and put the chair directly into the bag. Then shake the chair to remove the beans. If you have opened the seam wide enough, you can turn the chair inside out to remove the old beans. Then remove the chair from the bag and pick out the remaining beans. Next you simply refill the bag with your new filling. Use a needle and thread to repair the seam you had opened. Be sure the stitches are close together and strong. Then your bean bag chair is ready to be used again.
Q: I have a stupid fear of electric chairs due to some bad dreams about sitting in one. I'm not a bad person in the death row or anything; I just have an irrational fear. I can't even look at an image of an electric chair without getting nauseous or fainting. Because of this I don't really like sitting in any chairs. Help me! :(
Well first of all I don't believe your fear of sitting in an electric chair is abnormal. You couldn't tempt me into one either! It was used as a symbol for death for many many years here in the US. It was held up as the ultimate price one would pay for doing something serious against the law. So the fear was ingrained in us even as little folks. I don't know your age, but my generation sure wanted nothing to do with the electric chair, and all the ugliness that goes with it. Do you have a fascination with death, as I notice the name you use here on YAN is Korpsie, and that is like asking for trouble. Why would you entertain such a name, when you claim to be afraid of the electric chair? It doesn't jive! It doesn't make sense to me. Your fear, or fascination, with death has overtaken your belief system. It has frightened you so much you are not even willing to sit in ordinary chairs. That is the irrational fear (not the electric chair!) Try to desensitize yourself by allowing yourself to sit in a sofa, or couch, and then move on to a few minutes in a chair, and then keep on doing that until your fear eventually goes away. You may need some therapy to deal with this problem. You spoke of bad dreams about electrical chairs. You know dreams are symbolic? Try to remember your exact dream, as then we can ferret out the real reason you are afraid of an electric chair. Earlier in your Life were you electrocuted by live wires of some sort? Something happened to make you very wary of electricity. Try hard to remember what it was, and then tell it to take a hike, because it's messing with your Life. OK? Good luck to you!
Q: I have a dilema for chair coverings.... All the chairs within the venue are different colors... The table coverings are going to be white burlap with pale yellow runners. My centerpieces are going to be cut aspen trees hollowed out and sunflowers in them. It is a rustic simple wedding.
personally, I wouldn't do anything. the chairs are all the same shape so even though they are different colors they look matching I would rearrange them so that the colors are evenly distributed through the room or use them to color code the tables (eg. blue for the bridal party, white for the brides immediate family, red for the grooms side and yellow for the guests) or you could tie a bow around the chairs to dress them up a little
Q: I am getting married in September. It is an outdoor wedding in a garden. I have had a couple people suggest to me that I do not even use chairs for guest, only set up a limited amount for the people that are unable to stand. I would estimate we have invited about 200 guests or so but the garden is a very large site so they will have plenty of room. The ceremony should only last about 15-20 minutes, but I am still having doubts about everyone standing. Is it rude to make them stand around?
I would say to have chairs. A lot of women wear heels and you don't want them sinking into the ground. I don't think people would appreciate to have to stand during the ceremony and a lot will probably find it rude. If it were only like 15-20 people i would say they could stand but with 200 or so... i think there are too many to just stand there and be uncomfortable.
Q: And the wizards who control them...
I'd rather sit on a nice bean bag chair. Wizards are awesome too I guess.
Q: I'm trying to find reviews or opinions on the Brio high chair
Our grandson is 2 now and it has been easy to adjust it to fit his desire for independence. My daughter and son-in-law recently took the seat rail off so he can get up to sit down all on his own. We initially had reservations about getting it due to the price, but we have been very happy with it. I recommend it.
