Q:Ballet/ dance floor? help?
I do not believe that to be right
Q:Quotes/Phrases about the floor?
When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It's to enjoy each step along the way. Wayne Dyer Are you really sure that a floor can't also be a ceiling? M.C. Escher Aim for the sky and you'll reach the ceiling. Aim for the ceiling and you'll stay on the floor. Bill Shankly You can't climb to the second floor without a ladder. Try for a goal that's reasonable, then gradually raise it. Emil Zatopek Elsewhere the sky is the roof of the world, but here the earth is the floor of the sky. Willa Sibert Cather I walked over, and you could feel the floor was lower than it should be. Brenda Anderson Everything has to be shown out on the floor and off the floor, ... That's the only way to get it done. Nate McMillan On every high-rise building over 13 floors, there's a 13th floor, whether you like it or not. Why try to hide it? It's there. John Fleming No one goes down on the floor, and no one leaves the floor. Tom Wilson Have a nice day! :)
Q:What year did they stop using the 13th floor?
The origin of skipping the thirteenth floor when installing elevators is not known. However during the advent of early skyscrapers, New York architectural critics warned developers not to exceed the height of the 13th floor. These critics insisted buildings rising above the 13th floor (125 feet) would lead to increased street congestion, ominous shadows and lower property values. Nevertheless, in a work published in 1939, sociologist Otto Neurath compared the use of money in an economy, which he saw as unnecessary, to the superstition of not installing the thirteenth floor: merely a social convention.
Q:Will solid wood multi-layer floor, pure solid wood flooring and laminate flooring which is better ah?
Pure solid wood floor good, is too expensive
Q:Laminate flooring and doorways?
If there is a door in the doorway, close the door and see where the transition would be the least visible. That is, if the door opens into the family room, the transition would be on the side of the doorway toward the family room. If the door opens out of the family room, the transition would be on the other side of the doorway (so you don't see the other flooring when the door is closed). If the doorway doesn't have a door, you can put the transition on either side of the doorway. If there is a height difference between the two flooring surfaces, you can get a reducer that is basically a threshold in the same pattern as the laminate that transitions from the higher level floor to the lower level floor. In between two flooring surfaces at the same height, you can get a T-shaped transition piece (looking at it from the edge on, the top flat part has the laminate pattern and the leg of the T sticks down about a half inch) that does not change heights. It just fits into the slot between the two flooring surfaces to give it a smooth transition. Also, you should put down a layer of foam sheeting (about 1/16-inch thick) that is specifically designed for laminate floors before putting down the laminate. Use packing tape to join pieces together. This forms a moisture barrier under the laminate, helps to reduce noise when walking across the floor, and provides a cushioning effect that reduces fatigue when standing on the floor.
Q:What gets ink stains from a pen off the floor?
In carpet? Nothing but bleach and I wouldn't do that...
Q:How can I get squeaky floors fixed?
It isn't exactly the floor that's squeaking. It's the nails that were used to put down the plywood and sub-flooring. The nails were either too short, not driven in hard enough, or there were too few nails used, so when someone is walking around the wood flexes and the squeak you hear are the nails moving up and down. There isn't much of a practical cure for that other than driving new and longer nails into the floor and plenty of them. So, a floating floor system can be pulled up rather easily and since you have a 10 year warranty I would demand the builder fix the problem. It is NOT the wood squeaking, but the nails, and the carpenter that installed the plywood did an inferior job. The builder is going to contend that you're (I'm) wrong in an effort to get out of correcting the problem. I would sue him and challenge him to provide you with a set of blueprints along with a copy of the manufacturers specs on requirements for installing the plywood and sub-flooring. Once again, it would be easy to pull up a section of the floating floor to inspect the integrity of what's underneath it. I hope that helps.
Q:Sprung dance floor for my home?
Harlequin Dance Floors
Q:What are building codes for floor thickness in NYS?
The spacing of the joists dictates the thickness of the floor decking wood. Common is 16 in on centrs. but others will alter that. No your structrual thickness is only based on the structrual material. In your case the plywood. About 25 years ago; a common practice was a 1/2 in sub floor. then a 5/8 in underlayment over. That was dropped do to cost as well as newer floor decking products became available. Today probably 99% construction is a 3/4 in. tongue and groove, some call sturdy floor applied to 16 in on centrs. Plywood products have stamps on them that indicate floor joist spacing and roof rafter spacing. The smaller number would be for the floor spacing.
Q:Dumbbell chest press - floor vs bench?
floor presses isolate the inner pectoral and shoulder and uses include toning. bench presses (more common) allow the entire pectoral to strengthen with more travel for your arms to go. Incidently floor presses are not advised as practical for minor fibromayalgia occurances.
