- Q: K i'm almost ready to give up! I've bought every kind of pv I can think of, and I can see this technology will not be affordable in my lifetime.I conserve all I can (so far as to handwashing my laundry etc) I'm not rich, but I'm saving for a solar pv with decent amperage. I love tinkering with things if I see the point. All the cells i've seen are very weak. What PV would you buy? (all I need is to power my computer from a deep cycle 2 volt battery connected to an inverter)God Bless You
- For okorder . If powering a PC is your only goal, consider replacing the power supply in your PC with one that runs off native 2 volts (like the kind intended for RV's). Then you can avoid the 30% loss of energy in a cheap inverter. I think you will see a significant drop in the price of panels in the next couple years, by the way.
- Q: I have a home in Manchester Tn and we have been slowly remodeling the home. It is about 200 sq ft of living space. Our normal electric bill is about 50 a month. We would like to add some solar panels to the home to help reduce the amount of the bill. How many panels do I need and what would be the cost? I am not trying to go completely of the grid but I would like to start somewhere and maybe over the years be able to add. What is your recommendation for a reasonable cost of under 2 to 3 k??
- Unless there has been some major breakthrough in solar panel efficiency - Forget it. I had looked at some utility interactive systems where the electricity generated by the solar panels went through a special inverter and into the electrical system of the house, any power you didn't use went backwards through the meter and into the grid. I figured that even if it was sunny every day, it would take about 20 years to break even on the system. That is, if I had invested $5,000 in a small system, to save $5,000 off the electric bill would take 20 years. If I had $5,000 to invest, this wouldnt be the place! It would take much more than 20 years of electrical savings to match even a modest investment. Then, don't forget what happens if 0 years from now the inverter or some of the panels fail and need replaced. Invest in fluorescent lights, maybe even LEDs. You will see a much quicker return on investment. Install more insulation, put in a heat-pump system. I appreciate you desire to save some energy, solar just isn't going to be worth doing, at least not yet.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on hospitals or healthcare facilities?
- Yes, solar panels can definitely be installed on hospitals or healthcare facilities. In fact, many hospitals and healthcare facilities around the world have already embraced solar energy as a sustainable and cost-effective solution. Solar panels provide a reliable source of clean energy, helping these facilities reduce their carbon footprint and dependence on traditional energy sources. Additionally, solar power can contribute to long-term cost savings, allowing hospitals to allocate more resources towards patient care and medical services.
- Q: can this amount of solar charge these batteries.
- you need to have a voltage regulator on the gadget. That suggested, i imagine you're literally not giving it sufficient time. The battery might want to convey the voltage all the way down to its element. it is merely you attempt to replenish a huge reservoir with an eye fixed dropper. Bringing the voltage down would not help both. That lowers your ability.
- Q: The ancients used skylights for light in lieu of electricity. Light was used for drying, even cooking foods and drying clothes. Solar clocks/sun dials were once popular but now we have battery operated clocks. Where have we tapped into any of these resources since the outdated solar clothes drier nicknamed the 'clothes line'?
- Crikey yes, all these terms should be googleable Solar chimney Solar cooker Passive solar Solar trough Solar water heating Double glazing I'm sure there are more, I thought clothes lines were powered by the wind?
- Q: Just wondering if it is possible to recycle solar panels and where that would be done. If it is possible, is there a money refund in return. Or would it be better to just take the metal off and get a refund in that way? Looking for basically any answer here.
- It looks like you can. Although, I haven't been able to find like a drop off location or anything like that. Here's two phone numbers if you want to ask them. It's Sunday, and I'm assuming they're closed, otherwise I'd just call for you. San Diego (69) 562-783 or Berkeley (50) 843-3. It's a company called Borrego Solar. They look like a BIG solar company that specializes in commercial, residential and public sector turnkey, grid–connected solar electric systems. With over 25 years of experience. They sound like they would know about recycling, and at least be able to give you more information. I think because it's such a specialized item that is being recycled, there aren't going to be many options/drop off locations. Which ever option you choose (disassemble, or recycle as a whole) might depend on if you're looking to save the environment or make a buck. I got some information from the first link below, and the second link is to that Borrego company.
- Q: Can solar panels be used to power a music festival?
- Yes, solar panels can be used to power a music festival. Solar panels generate electricity by converting sunlight into energy, which can be stored in batteries for use during nighttime or cloudy days. By installing a sufficient number of solar panels, a music festival can harness renewable energy to power stages, lighting, sound systems, and other equipment, reducing reliance on traditional power sources and minimizing carbon emissions.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on a flat roof?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on a flat roof. However, it is important to consider the orientation, tilt, and shading of the roof to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity of the solar panels.
- Q: Can solar panels be used to power a zoo?
- Yes, solar panels can be used to power a zoo. Solar energy can be harnessed through panels to generate electricity that can power various facilities within a zoo, including enclosures, buildings, and even some of the exhibits. This sustainable energy source can help reduce the zoo's carbon footprint and reliance on traditional power grids.
- Q: Can solar panels be used to power swimming pools or hot tubs?
- Yes, solar panels can be used to power swimming pools or hot tubs. Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity, which can be used to power various appliances and devices, including pool pumps and heaters. By harnessing the sun's energy, solar panels can help reduce energy costs and make pool or hot tub operation more environmentally friendly.
