Q: Dose anyone know any decorative tile srtists?
Check on line or at a tile store. Have fun
Q: How to identify the quality of ceramic tile and standard
(10) Size deviation: Tile specifications can be measured with a caliper, good product specifications are small, paving products after the uniform, straight brick, decorative effect is good; poor product specifications deviation, product size is different; (11) color selection: the color of the external walls should be coordinated with the surrounding environment, high-rise buildings generally should not use white or too light-colored decorative wall, in order to avoid the building lack of texture: in the interior decoration. Floor tiles and inner wall tiles to coordinate with each other; (12) the choice of tile types: to use the specific environment to choose tiles, such as the living room should choose a larger size of polished tiles or antique tiles, and the kitchen and the best choice for non-slip, easy to clean the whole body bricks.
Q: What purpose does it serve? Is it safe to assume the tile will settle half of the trowel thickness? For example, if using a 1/4 inch trowel, will the tile settle 1/8 inch when set in place? Thanks for any help/advice!
Guitar is mostly right. You need the correct size trowel to spread it uniformly to set the tile in place so the thin set will both bond the tile to your substrate and provide the correct coverage to support the tile . Different trowels for different applications. You don t rely on the tile settling into place you have to set it, slightly press it and use a slight twisting motion to get the coverage you need to conform to specs in the ATC tile hand book, Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. Q: For a while now I have just used paper towels as a substrate for my 2 leopard geckos and I recently have been researching slate tiles as a substrate and I want to give it a try due to the positive feedback i‘ve seen on message boards and care sheets. Now, I have 2 10 gallon tanks that I would like to use but details are lacking from an online source.1. What measurements should i ask for when getting a piece of slate cut(for a generic 10 gallon tank)?2. Is there a certain thickness the slate should be for proper heat disbursement?3. How warm should the slate be allowed to get if i‘m monitoring it with a thermometer? I know I could measure out the tank myself, but I was just curious if there was a size that fit better than what a measurement would give me. Thank you for the feedback.
I use slate tiles for my 3 geckos tanks. They work great. 1. A 10 gallon tank is generally 20in X 12in. Because not all the tiles are the same size I would go with cutting the tile slightly smaller to make sure they fit. So maybe 19 1/2 and 11 1/2. You will probably need 2 tiles for each tank so you could cut them anyway you want ( 10 and 10, 12 and 8, 6 and 6, etc. You can fill the gaps with sand later on. The 12 X12 tiles could be slightly smaller, slightly larger, or longer then they say. 2. No really, though you do want them to be fairly even in the tank. Most of my tiles are about 1/4 inch but I also have a layer of sand under the tiles so they are level even if the tiles are different thicknesses. 3. You want them to be warm but not too hot. Because leopard geckos use belly heat you'll want them about 88-90F. I would not let the tiles get over 95F though.
Q: Looking for ceramic wall tile decorated in 24 karat gold designs
Latco made some smaller tiles years ago in a gold plate along with a 1/2x1 1/2 fiddle stick but I m not so sure they do any more.. At 130$ a s/f, it didn t sell well and that was 12/15 years ago.. Try American Olean ,Florida Tile, and Dal Tile on line to see if they have any. They all used to have a light gold out lined tile. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q: I‘m going to install a porcelain tile floor. My question is when I install a tile up against a cabinet that people can see. Should I but the tile up against the cabinet or should I leave enough space to grout between the tile and the cabinet. Just wondering what the standard practice is , and what looks the best. Also I have a small crack in the concrete, which the tile company said it was so minor that not to worry about it. Although it caused a crack in my old tile that was originally installed. I would really like to prep the crack prior to installing the new tile. What would you recommend doing to prep the crack. Thanks
first about the crack. If the old tile cracked over it, then the new will too. It's not about how big the crack is, but how much it moves. You can use an isolation membrane over the crack area to eliminate the problem. Ask your tile supplier about them. Now about the gap at the cabinets. You do want to leave a gap, but don't grout it, fill it with good flexible caulk. the movement there will only crack out the grout around the edge.
Q: I have installed tile around my shower and and ready to fill in the gaps between the tile. Grouting looks messy and I don‘t know how to do it. Is there a grout that comes in a tube that can be put into a caulk gun? Can I just caulk the whole thing? This one is new to me so any help is appreciated!!!
You can buy grout in a caulking tube which is applied the exact same way as caulking. Grouting is the better option, you may not know how to grout but it is a very simple task. You could even get a grout bag to apply directly into the spacing which would make it a cleaner application.
Q: What is better tiles or carpet in a living room considering I have 3 kids ( 4 , 3 and 2 ) ? what about the kitchen?
If you are looking for the easiest to maintain, definitely tile. Being a living room, and having young kids, I would assume they play there, so carpet would be much kinder to falls that the little-ones will have. You can always have both, get tile and place an area rug over it, you can get the rug cleaned at a local dry cleaners or just get a cheap one that you can toss when the kids get older.
Q: I am about to renewing my kitche.I plan to install tile.Well I have no tile cutter but I do have a simple, regular cutt off electrical tools and a diamond blade.Should this be enough for it?
just rent one from homedepot there cheap. just save all the cutting for one day
Q: im kinda changing the tiles in my house and I need some help choosing between white horse tiles or niro granite tiles for the dining hall and toilets.Which one do you think is better? If possible can you please tell me why?it is okay if you don‘t.thanks.hope you can help me
