Solar panel working process
In addition to being the ultimate source of all life on earth, the sun is an infinitely renewable, completely pollution-free source of electricity. Instead of burning fossil fuels dug up from the ground in a big power plant – a very 19th century, industrial age approach, when you think about it – solar panels convert sunlight directly into electricity, with no harmful emissions.
The basic unit of a solar panel is a solar cell, which usually consists of one or two layers of silicon-based semiconductor wafers. When struck by the photons in sunlight, the solar cell generates an electrical charge due to the "photovoltaic effect" – which is a pretty good name, since it produces voltage from photons. The flow of these electrons moves in a steady electrical current from one side of the cell to the other.

- yes they are very recyclable, and you would actually be suprised at how much you get back from them just as materials, as there are still very valuable materials in them.... Often solar shops will accept them back for at a fraction of what you paid, as they can send them back to the manufacturer who then do all the material stripping in them and recycle all the materials there. Mainly depends what type of solar panels you have.... Most probably poly-chystalline or mono-chystalline. If they are that cool blue or black psychadelic looking panel also the manufacturing make that effect is also costly so they would probably look to buying that as well.. I would ask a solar shop where it can be done as the silicon in them are still a very prescious substance..... I would definatly not throw them out or pull them apart just yet

- Take okorder /.. You need to keep in mind that as long as you are renting your electric from the public utility you are doing just that and renting. You can resale the solar electric system if you move or if you just want to sale it and get some of your money back if not 20 % extra. Then all the years you used the system was all free electric. So it is already viable as you put it. Anything other then buying a system would not be. Here is a thought. The housing market slumped and if you paid 50K for your home it is now only worth if you can even sale it about 00K. Not worth the money but people are still buying homes even if they are not worth what they are being sold for. And then the cars and trucks people buy will never pay for them selfs but people still buy them and spend extra the more wasteful the car is. So why does solar have to pay for it's self or prove it's self? It has many times over but because you can't drive a solar panel drunk and party out in the bars with it is is not worth the money. I guess the is just being human and a double standard. What about the big up front cost of solar? I remember a 20% up front cost when I bought my home and my car and it is the same 20% or less for a solar loan. Plus the value of solar is going up not down like with homes and a car is not worth but half what you paid for it the minute you drive it off the car lot. I can only see good from solar un like other things we buy.

Before I thought it would charge a 2v battery without a solar charger but then I talked to someone and they said that it was wasting a lot of power and could potentially hurt the battery. - The solar panel is capable of /2 Amp output. If you hook it to a 2V battery directly and the battery is discharged it will want more than /2 Amp and pull the voltage down until the battery is charged to a certain level. Eventually the battery will try to charge up to 00V which will definitely damage the battery. If you use a regulator circuit running off the solar panel that outputs 2V then you will have a constant voltage circuit which will still be limited to /2A or whatever the regulator is capable of outputting. Of course you can't just go out and connect 00V to any voltage regulator it has to be capable of running from 00V and dropping the voltage to 2V like the original charger that comes with the battery. The same explanation applies to a 72V battery. You have to limit the output voltage to 72V or risk overcharging the battery.
- Q: Me and my friend have made our own functional solar panels for considerably less than retail prices and we are thinking about selling them. Are there any legal issues regarding this?
