- Q: The back window on my convertible got a hole put in it last winter, since then I've just been using tape to keep it together. I have a new plastic window complete with trim that will make a suitable replacement, I just need to know what kind of adhesive and how to apply it so that it stays put when the top is up and folds accordingly when the top goes down. I'd like to remove the old back window as well.
- Either have it sewn in or get rid of the car. It will look like crap if you attempt to glue it in place.
- Q: out of envelopes before you put it in your paper recycles or do you leave it in? This bugs me EVERY week, lol. Who does this and who doesn't . Anyone know how they deal with the plastic. ?
- You're supposed to break them out because it's not possible for them to mechanically sort them out. Some recyclers will chop it up into flakes which can then be sorted but that brings it's own problems.
- Q: I have seen it done both ways.
- It would depend on which way is easier to access and which will give you a better seal. one benefit to outside is that you can often extend the plastic on past the window panes easier to be sure you seal air not only from the glass but also from any gaps in woodwork. Either way will be beneficial. I would look at where you will get the best seal and where you will do the least damage to trim etc when you staple it, tape it, or however you choose to adhere it
- Q: I own a 323i bmw convertible. I just replaced the top but the back plastic window is already starting to cloud. I was recommended a wax called ziond or something along those lines. It worked the first time but is now turning the window yellow. I dont wish to replace the window so i was wondering if anyone knew an easier option? such as some home remedy to grease it off. idk ive tried everything!thanks!
- it's not too hard. It's the same thing that happens to headlights, condensation gets in and discolors the plastic. Go to your local Advance or NAPA or even sears, just pick up a thing of headlight restorer. All you have to do is rub it on and rub it off five minutes later. It's pretty cheap too, like 12 bucks max. hope this helped

- NO!!! i just put on the window chalk paint on my cousins cars headlights during his wedding and now they are stained red! and whatever you do don't put it on the grill. it took the silver paint off that too!

- You can apply Duck Roll-On 3-Window Film or 3M window insulation Kit this product will increase the insulation value in your windows. You can purchase this product at your local hardware store.
- Q: recently the plastic window in the back of my 91 mazda miata convertable top tore and iv been looking for where i can buy just the plastic window but i cant find it i can only find buying a brand new top all together but i know the top is made to be able to replace only the plastic so if you know where i can find these please help
- There are several types of tops used, and there is no way to guarantee of what replacement window will fit unless you know for sure who made it! Some times the makers name is on the top, however to find out you have to take the top a part. Next thing you need to know is that the labor is just as much for a window replacement as it is for a new top. Another thing to think about is that many times a complete top is less then 100 dollars more then just the replacement window. That is why I just replace the complete top my self, and use what I would have paid someone else to do the job to buy new cables and a rain rail. The first link is to directions on how one person did the job, I have read three different methods. However because of how the top was put on by the last person to do the job none of the worked exactly as published. The second link is to a site that has replacement windows, there are others out there. Note the one there is for the Robins Top, if it is factory or any other makers top, it will not fit. Replacement tops start at about 150 dollars and go on up. I have bought mine from Dave on OKorder. He used to carry a three window model and that was what I bought. I like his service and price. - Q: Ok i have a couple bonsai trees and some other assorted potted plants and i wanted to know if i put plastic sheets on the windows to keep the cold from affecting the plants if that would affect how much light the plants will get. - Yes plastic will decrease the amount of light that penetrates the window. Most clear plastics are rated for how much light they let penetrate when new and as the plastic ages, it will let in less light. You may be able to find this information online if you know the type of plastic you are going to use. Try looking up light ratings or opacity for the plastic you have or ask where you plan to buy it. I can't remember the exact numbers, but clear to slightly opaque plastics usually decrease light by about 10-30%. Ten to fifteen percent should be okay for most sunny windows.
- Q: Would a Jeep Wrangler with glass windows be any less noisy than a model with plastic windows?
- Even with a soft top, glass windows on the full size hard doors makes for a much more quiet ride with the top up than a Jeep with half doors and the plastic windows. Plus, the hard doors will not flap at speeds in excess of 60 MPH as the soft portion of the half doors will. Not much of an issue unless it is winter and the heat quickly escapes from your Jeep while cruising down the highway. Even on the TJ with the more advanced door frame assembly, the glass is much more advantageous with the soft top. With the hard top, the CJ, YJ, and TJ are all about the same.
