- Q: I'm running a 3ghz ecs p965t with 2gb of RAM, and I'm trying to install an XFX 8800GT. First time I tried it, it didn't power on at all, and I figured it might be the power supply (mine was a 350w) so I tried a friend's 450w, still no power. So I went out and bought a 500w, and STILL no power. Wierder still, if I leave the card plugged into the board but don't plug in the power connector, it makes a long high-pitched wailing sound but the system does power itself.I'm assuming it must be a problem with the card itself, but does anyone have any other possibilities I could try before negotiating a replacement in PC World?
- I think its the card. This is not uncommon. Card sounds DOA. Exchange it. 500 watts is good, the others are not, but lack of power would not kill a card, I don't believe. good luck. 8800GT is a sweet card, thats what I have, I play at 1920x1080 and get between 40 and 60 FPS in far cry 2 and great frames in oblivion maxed out. I get around 30 in crysis on high.
- Q: I got two mobile GPS units for my car which use a mini USB interface for powering. One of the units didn't come with a cigarette adapter so I am trying to figure out how to power it. Can I just use a normal USB cable? I would tap the red wire into the fuse box in my car, and ground the black wire to the frame. So:-Can a mini USB cable handle 12V for ~5ft-Is that the right way to connect them? Thanks!
- no because it will explode it only takes 5 to 4.5 volts and 2 to 2.5 volts i recommend using 5 volts and 2.5 watts bye
- Q: Hey! I bought a new sound system for my truck including 4 new speakers, a sub, a 5-channel amp, and I'm running all new wiring. So far I've got the 3 RCA cables ran, along with the blue remote turn-on wire along the right side of my truck. I plan to run the Power wire down the left side and then to my amp.I've heard that you put the power wire and RCA cables on different sides, which is what I've done, but is it ok for my speaker wires to be run beside or close to the power wire(4-gauge fyi)? For example, the right side speaker wires wont be near it, but the left side speaker wires will be...Will this cause any weird noise from my speakers?I don't have the names/etc of all my gear right in front of me, but if u rly need it, I will quot;add detailsfor you! Thanks!!
- Well....That is determined by how colossal the amp is. An extension wire has either 2 or three wires inside of at someplace between sixteen and 12 gauge wire. You could twist the entire conductors together and be excellent up to about 40 amps with three 12 gauge wires. The quandary with amplifiers is current no longer voltage. The thicker the wire the more present it will handle. Most any wire you purchase is rated as a minimum 120V. Check what dimension fuse the amp requires, whether it is more than 30 to forty amps i would purchase the correct size single wire for the amp. Also, fuse the wire at the battery. Fire is just not our pal. :)
- Q: Have a 480 volts 3 phase 16 amp motor. Need 400 ft of extention cord. Is is OK to use a SOOW 10/4 cable, the voltage drop is 2.67%(12 volts). Machine is powerd by a generator that I can run at 500 volts to counter the voltage drop.8/4 cable cost twice as much, but the voltage drop is 1.7%(8 volts).
- I suppose this may work, just remember make sure you don't overheat your cord, and your motor runs ok with this setup, over or under voltage is hard on a motor. try using a volt meter on the motor while under load in order to find the proper voltage for the generator, that % is calculated and may not be acurate in real life.
- Q: Wire with a single core copper wire is good, or multi-core good?
- First, this should be based on specific circumstances, single-core and multi-core is the main difference between the different softness of the wire. In fact the two do not exist which good question, but the use of the environment is not the same. Second, the family decoration: . the lighting line, can be used 1.5 single strand copper wire. More than . 2P (including) more than air conditioning, that is, hot water heater, Yuba must use 4 square double strand copper wire; . the wall buried the best choice for single wire copper wire, according to the need to choose 4 square Mm, 2.5 square millimeters, 1.5 square millimeters and other specifications.
- Q: on the end of the cable that connects to the laptop not the power outlet
- That cylinder is called a choke. The purpose of the item is to deflect electrical interferences from the outside sources...like telephones, 2-way radios, ect. It also works as a shield for the brick or power converter that your laptop uses. It also puts out signals that could interfere in other devices.
- Q: what the size of power cable 3 core for motor 18.5 Kw with star dalta starter?
- It is entirely dependent on the voltage supplied to the motor. At 230 V (wye connection to motor), rated current is 80 A. At 460 V (wye), rated current is 40 A. At 600 V (wye), rated current is 31 A. Different cable sizes required for each rating (for minimum cross-section) ... however, cable sized for 80 A will certainly do the job for the higher voltage ratings, assuming it is insulated for the appropriate voltage.
- Q: A friend gave me this monitor, but didn't know where the power cord was. I made the mistake of thinking to myself quot;Oh well, it's just the standard plug, I'll just use one at home. But it is this weird 4-5 Pronged slot I haven't seen before. The manufacturer is HP, but I couldn't find any accessories on their site. Can anyone tell me what kind of plug would fit this, or where to get one? I have included a picture, sorry for the poor quality, but it is from my phone.
- most likely an s video. youj can buy them at your local computer or electronic store such as harvey norman
- Q: The Leader of the band inists that all power cables connected to the amplifires be placed away from the performance area.
- 1. People come to see the performers not cables. Keeping them out of sight makes a better presentation and is safer for the performers. 2. Keeping the power cables away from the audio cables is just good practice. Low level (mic and line level) signals from mics and instruments are no match for high current power cables. The high current power cables produce magnetic fields that can induce hum into low level audio cables. Balanced cables, ones that use 3 pin XLR connectors are better than unbalanced RCA or phono plug audio cables. In the real world audio cables do have to cross power cables. When this happens try to cross them at 90 degree angles. Try to keep power and audio about a foot apart if possible. You may not be able to do this 100% of the time, but the better you run your cables the better the sound will be as far as hum is concerned. Hope this helps. D.bumstead
