Q: I want 12x12 tiles on the floor of the bathroom. But on the countertop (small, less than 6sqt) should I do large tiles, or smaller tiles of a similar style? And for the backsplash, should it be the same as the counter or the floor? Not so good with the design aspect. :)
All your tile selections should co-ordinate but do not need to match exactly. I like the big tiles on the floor but not on the counters and back splash. The large tile will make those areas seem out of scale. I'd go with a similar tile but in a smaller size on the counter and back splash and see if you can find some accent tile to work into your design of the back splash. All it takes is a band of something like natural stone, glass tile or a textured tile to kick it up a notch and by using the more expensive tile sparingly, you're not increasing your costs but certainly increasing the eye appeal.
Q: my tiles i am using are 13 inch, and i am doing a 4x8 wall,so i was wondering which is the best way to adhere it
The adhesive will vary with the type of substrate your tiling over. If your going over drywall in a NON wet area, you can use a mastic(easier to work with for a novice) or a thin set ( much cheaper). But if your doing a wet area such as a shower or tub surround, you really should be going over a cement board and a thin set only. Mastic will fail in a wet area. Since your doing a large tile, I would recommend a thin set only..Along with the proper trowel which is a 1/4x3/8ths. If you want brand names, the only 2 I ve used in the last 20+ years are H B Fuller ( Tec) and Custom Thin sets. If you have any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL

With the correct underlayment should be not trouble at all.Have you install it that way?? WHAT IS YOUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCE??

Q: Home decoration with what tiles better
Research a lot of tiles, online tattoo comments brand tiles are: the famous Dongpeng many Shandong Zibo OEM turn, just advertising to do bright! Shop out is not smooth! Marco Polo also has a lot of branded brick! Comments that gold pottery is rubbish, poor service! Commented that the generals serious uneven, I really experience from the physical shop what is the stone arch bridge! Commented that Samit was serious in the drum, I also deliberately in the physical store is indeed the case, I have been set and back! Online comment Nobel is not flat, this I did not see! Gold rudder is expensive! ... ... I want to buy a brand name of the number of friends to the brand Tucao finished, not scolded like only Hongyu and crown beads, so I deliberately went to the two stores looked, really fabulous, but hit Hongyu sound Crisp, may be good bricks, but the price is very expensive, in our reputation there is no crown beads, so into the crown beads shop, but also very expensive. I deliberately poured the floor of the small floor of the brick, actually did not infiltrate a minute, so I decided to buy beads, but the price seems to be as expensive as Hongyu, only buy crown beads tiles and toilet bricks, to save money, kitchen brick to buy A miscellaneous brand. Hope that the crown will not let me down!
Q: Does anyone know if I can lay ciramic tile over the dull worn out linoleum floor in my kitchen? I don‘t want to peel up the linolium because of the insane amount of labor it will take, and make the sub floor un even. any suggestions? Will tiles still stick to this material? Thanks!
The people who took up our lino in preparation for tile in our first home, rented a piece of equipment that chipped up the lino and then they ground the concrete to make it even before laying the tile. About 2 years after we moved into our new preowned home, we noticed that the tile floor in the kitchen was loosening. We called in two tile installers for estimates and they both told us that there was linoleum underneath. Sure enough, when the ceramic tiles were removed, there was linoleum underneath. The seller had taken a short cut and had the tile put down over the linoleum!! It cost us $1800.00 for it to be properly removed and prepped, and new tile installed. What a disappointment! Thank goodness we have a galley style kitchen with a moderate amount of square footage or it could have been a very expensive situation. Do yourself a favor, bite the bullet and remove the lino--then there will be no doubt about your tile staying in place for the long haul.
Q: My house to decorate, who knows how the Villets tile ah?
Yes, Marco Polo, Nobel, Mona search Lisa, Dongpeng ceramic tiles, gold Ouya, etc., are the first line of the big brands, they can engage in activities or discount time to see. The other second and third line, although cheap, but the building materials aspects of things, or the brand of confidence.
Q: I want to put tiles down on my kitchen floor, but first I need to pull up the old pattern. It is a whole piece of laminate flooring that is starting to come undone where the dining room and kitchen meet. So how would I go about doing this? Do i just pull the laminate up? Is there a specific way to put the tiles down?
The first thing is I need to know is this laminate glue or snap together (do you want to save this floor ?) if you donot care this is how to remove your laminate First off figure which way the laminate is started this will give you a good starting point. this should just fold up ward ____/ like that once you start you should be able to take up thold laminate in 1 hour. make sure to remove all your wall base first., that is what holds down the laminate. After that is up you will have to determine what type of underlayment is on the subfloor. The most common is durock if you are putting down ceramic . If it is vinyl tiles you then should use luan (1/4 thick use the same thickness for the durock). You have to measure you length and width of the floor striking chalk lines to determine where your starting point is ( you do this with either type of floor). If you need more instruction e mailme.
Q: How to fix the surface of the tile? How much is the thickness of the tile?
Tile thickness plus mortar thickness of two centimeters.
Q: It is in my kitchen , hall and bath. Is the reason that tiling is so expensive becasue of having to remove the old tile first?
If the existing tile is sound and not loose you can tile over it. You must use modified thin set motar adhesive. The only way to remove tile is to beat it off. Since (as you say) is is directly on wood you may get lucky and the bond is not tight. If this is the case you may get it off using a shovel to scrape and pry. If not safety glasses long sleeves, a hammer and chisel are the way to go.
Q: What is the use of ceramic tile?
More than 4 can lead to the sizing after sizing. In the construction of trimming when careful not to squeeze too much, or easily lead to foam foam rod deformation, then the foam rod will gradually recover, resulting in the overall sealant muster; construction within the scope of the construction to extend the correction time, Operation, the use of scraper from the bottom of the seam up to trim, to avoid curing the strip surface is uneven and a small amount of sagging; due to the different types of profiles on the market, it is recommended that customers in the use of each batch of plastic products before their own simple Of the adhesive test, in recognition of product quality can be widely used, which is to ensure the quality of the project at the same time also protect their own interests. Tile glue a lot of advantages, relative to the traditional materials such as cement in terms of advanced technology, saving material consumption, to ensure the quality of the project and conducive to environmental protection, is a good choice in the housing decoration. But this does not mean that tiles are the best choice for all people, on the one hand the current market tile unit cost is higher than the cement, on the other hand also take into account the construction process, its construction technology requirements than Cement should be high, if the use of ceramic tiles improper, the effect will be greatly discounted. So we choose to use cement or magnetic glue must be based on their actual situation to choose the best products for the better. Learn more about tile information click on id
