6. How to choose bathroom tiles? Porcelain tiles or glazed tiles?

Currently used in the bathroom tiles with glazed tiles (mainly from price considerations, some high-end can choose tiles, notice to choose tiles), divided into Shinny and Matt two kinds. Light color makes people feel shinny, but the bathroom more appropriate to create a warm feeling, so the best choose is uses matte, the shinny feels more soft and not dazzling.

Q: What is the best tiles?
Champion, Dongpeng Tiles, Nobel Tiles, Mona Lisa Tiles, Marco Polo Tiles and other top ten brands Not the best, only the most appropriate, different parts of the selection, the characteristics of different tiles, there is no need to be the best, neither economic nor nicely suitable for paving parts
Q: I thought that bathroom floor tiles were thicker than the bathroom wall tiles, is this right?
Yes but I would not recommend it. The bathrooms in the house we just bought have the same tile in the shower, walls and on the floor. The tiles are okay on the walls and in the shower but they are horrible on the floor. They are chipped , cracked and very tough to keep clean. Floors need a more durable tile.
Q: I have gauges and scraps on my ceramic tile, i want to fix and even out the existing tile, then glaze it?
If these tiles are already installed I think you are out of luck for any long term fix. Ceramic tile glaze is fired onto the tiles in a kiln at very high heat. The firing makes the glaze and tile bond in a way that fillers, puttys, or paint cannot achieve. If your tile is that worn, it is possible that you have the wrong grade of tile for the situation where it is being worn so much. You may have earned yourself a new tile shower, floor, countertop, whatever....
Q: How can I remove ceramic tiles from a bathroom wall without damage the wall itself, as I want to paint the wall. Would steam help loosen the glue used?
You need to plan that replacing some drywall is inevitable. I've installed thousands of sq. ft. of tile, and unless your bathroom walls are plywood, or concrete backer board, the act of tile removal will tear at the drywall in the removal process. Tile mortar (Quickset) is designed to bond Usually forever, and in that bonding it isn't going to just fall off at a touch,,,unless the wall behind it is already degraded. One option is to remove by scraping,,,STEAM will not work, though might further damage drywall. After scraping, rough sand as smooth as possible, and install new drywall over old. Then finish. Rev. Q: My husband and I are disagreeing about tile on the wall. What is your opinion about tile on the bathroom wall, half way up? Here are the yes and no‘s of arguments:YES:The tile is neutral and beautiful. There is a WOW factor when you walk in and see the extra tile. It‘s practical for our household with a one year old who splashes and may smudge a non-tiled bathroom wall.NO:It‘s old fashioned, not necessary and I would rather have empty wall space available to paint from top to bottom. There only needs to be tile around the bath tub, for splashing and practicality purposes.
I'm a huge fan of bathroom tile and I don't even have children but I'm putting it in my home. Bigger squares look much more modern than the older two color small squares do. Go with shiny white! Then the top half of the room can pop with as much color as you like!
Q: I‘m installing a kitchen back splash of 1 x 1 glass tile. Right now there is drywall where the tile will be. I‘ve read that it is better to use cement backing board as a substrate. Is this really necessary or can I just use thin-set to mount the tile directly to the drywall and then grout as usual? Thanks for your help!
In a kitchen setting, the drywall will be fine.
Q: If i have 56 tiles in my bathroom that are 8x8 how many would i need at 13x13
22 tiles at a bare minimum. 8x8=64 s/inches 56x64=3584 total s/inches in the room 13x13=169 s/inches 3584 divided by 169 is 21.2 or 22 tiles. 4/5 pc for scrap so 26/27 total pcs. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q: The house to decorate the floor in the choice of headache, wooden floor generous and beautiful, but will rot, will be deformed, have to resist termites; and tiles no problem, but now many people use wooden floor, personal really do not know how to choose The Is there any friend who can give professional advice?
The south or the north Whether the weather is wet is a prerequisite for the choice of wood flooring, of course, humid climates can also be decorated wood flooring, but taking into account the impact of solid wood material is relatively large, after the rainy season after the contraction, expansion deformation. In general, the use of wood flooring in the north is very suitable, dry climate, relatively cold winter, wood floor comfort is certainly better than the tiles. There is to look at the decoration style, although the wood can take in vain, but only the color of the relatively strong, no style tiles, diverse styles can cater to a variety of decoration style. More selective, more patterns. If you are a bored person, it is still a tile it ~
Q: Is there a way to paint dark green tiles? I also want to paint my white cabinets- what should I be aware of (sanding, etc) Anything else I need to know? Thanks!
With your tiles if you want to paint them darker then yes you can buy specific tile paint, which involves using a primer first then the paint, but to go lighter i think u may struggle as covering any dark colour and going lighter is tough. As for your cabinets, depends what they are made of, if the r solid wood a light sanding and primer should suffice, if they have laminate fronts(shiny) i wouldn't bother trying to paint them, just buy new fronts, its often as cheap as buying all the paints and primers etc!
Q: Can I apply ceramic tile to my bedroom that is on the 2nd floor? My parents are saying I can‘t because the tile will weigh the floor down over timeIs there any danger in putting tile on a 2nd floor?
Weight is not an issue. Homes are designed to carry 40 or more pounds per square foot. Tile is not much heavier that other flooring surfaces such as carpet or hardwood so will not tax the structure at all. The current sub floor is probably not stiff enough for tile so adding an underlayment is probably a good idea. Whether this is a good idea is another matter altogether. Tile is a decidedly unfriendly surface for a bedroom. It is hard and cold. Drop something like a glass on it and you have a mess and nothing is colder to the foot except granite. I would not tile my bedroom and having it tiled is likely to make selling the house more difficult.
