Q:Lots of water dripped through and there are stains in the plaster swirl ceiling. No visible bubbling or damage though besides the stains. Should I be worried about mold in an interior (no insulation) ceiling? Is it important to cut out the stained plasterboard ceiling?

If you are absolutely certain the leak has been fixed and there is no more water dripping... 1. Place a fan facing toward the ceiling for about a week or as long as it takes to make sure the ceiling is completely dry. 2. Paint the stained area with Killz. (Not sure of the spelling but it's a water stain retardant) Let it dry overnight, regardless of what the directions say telling you it's dry in less than two hours. 3. Paint the surface again with Killz 24 hours later. 4. Wait 24 hours to see if the stain is visible. If it is, paint another coat of Killz. 5. If the stain is undetectable, wait 48 hours and paint the ceiling with with the color of your choice. A second coat of paint may be required.

Q:I had to have the other walls rebuilt because they were so bad & I'm worried if I remove the wallpaper the plaster will fall off & new plaster won't stick to the crumbling walls. So I'll plasterboard strait over the wallpaper. Good idea or bad idea?

When you say plasterboard, do you mean sheet rock or actual plaster where wooden batting has to be applied first? Well, either way, if the wall under the wallpaper is not stable, it could very well interfere with the new wall staying securely in place. However, if you put up new plasterboard with long enough screws to purchase into the studs of the walls behind the original walls, then it will be stable and keep the crumbling wall in it's place, I suppose.

Q:I recently installed a Peerless Wall Mount to support my 46 LCD. Every installation guide I find tells me I absolutely need a stud when installing on a plaster board. However, I could not find a stud in my apartment wall and the plasterboard (if it is that - not quite sure of the material, the building was originally built in 1952 - if anyone has any insight on what it could be I'd appreciate it) was 2 to 3 deep. I used concrete spacers with the screws (which were also about 2 - 3 in depth). It seems exceptionally sturdy.Am I ok are or am I being delusional?

2-3 inches deep? then you should be fine although i would try and spread the weight out as much as possible, the more surface space you use the less tension in one area so use some of those alligator things that go in but not out. use your good judgment on this one if it seems sturdy enough then go for it
