- Q: can i wallpaper over a plasterboard?
- Plain, ,just installed, raw plasterboard? I would think that would be fine. If it's painted, you might need to rough it up a little. If it's papered, you should probably remove the existing paper.
- Q: hi, i took the tiles off but underneath were more tiles and in some areas plaster over more tiles and some plasterboard , ha its a right mess, whoever did it was dodgy, do i have to taake all this off right back to the brick and get someone to plaster it fresh or can i just hide all this with plasterboard and put new tiles on this? please help
- it may seem like less work at first glance, but in the end covering up someone elses work ( in this case more then one someone else ) can lead to regret. you're slowly changing the original dimensions of the room and in a lot of cases its features are no longer square. i've done a number of renovations and there is always surprises. i prefer to remove the trash and get down to the original studs. in this way you can upgrade electric if you wish ( new work on top of old always seems to make your outlets and light switches deeper and deeper ) and you can insulate the walls or you can run things like phone lines and tv cables inside the wall. who knows you may discover something you'll be glad you caught now rather then after the work is complete.
- Q: I have bought a new house and have noticed that the plaster walls have been plainted with water based paint without being sealed. I would now like to repaint and change the colour, how is the best way to do this? Should I apply a sealer over it, or just give it a couple of coats with some good paint?
