- Q: I've play flute for 8 years now, piccolo for 6. Last year when playing for chairs I got 2nd chair. I got absolutely no solos nor piccolo parts. Being my sophomore year, I didn't mind all that much. Our flute section leader was first chair. Now this year she is drum major. We played for chair with a new band director and I got 2nd chair once again, while she got 1st. I've asked to challenge but I don't know if I will be allowed to or not. When I asked last year I was gently told no. Saying all that, every time we have played for chairs I knew for a fact that I could easily beat her and become 1st chair but the band directors keep giving me 2nd. I don't know what to do. I know for a fact she's planing on once again not giving me any solos nor piccolo parts. It's really bumming me down. What should I do?

- Q: Hi so today my band teacher assigned us our place in the band and I got second chair for flutes. It's that good or bad? I wanted to get first chair but I guess I wasn't playing my best. :P so is second chair considered good or bad? Will I get anything like special from it? Or should I work my way to first chair since in my school we can challenge the chair above us. - Being 1st chair is an ego thing. If you are all playing the same part, it makes little difference. Sometimes 1st chair is expected to explain things to the rest of the flutes. In our orchestra there are jealousies about which chair they play and we shuffle parts.

- Q: I have this really greata office chair that my neighbor was just oging to through out... it has some tears in it ...and i am unsure of how to go about fixing it. the material isn't close enough to stitch... my mom suggested getting a peice of fabric to cover it and stitch that to the chair...i honestly dont care about the looks just that i dont ruin it more... would a regualr needle and thread hold against leather if i just put a peice over it...
- Well its probably too late now to really do anything unless u declaw , but I don't suggest that, I've read studies on what they do to declaw and I would never do that to my cat! Would you want to have somebody rip your nails out of your fingers? SO.. I've tried all that there is.. the sprays on the chairs and scents cats hate.. nothing works.. not even spraying the cat with water works (my cat likes water) slap on the butt, loud noise.. nothing works.. Got rid of the chesterfield that he did it to instead of the cat.. Just left his favorite chair and footstool that he likes.. he leaves everything else alone. Best thing to do is when you first get a kitten is to teach them to use a scratching post right from the start..

- Q: My girlfriend bought an antique chair that is in good shape physically (needs no repairs) but the finish on it in places is worn off all the way down to the wood.She wants it painted white. So what would I need to do to strip off the remaining finish and paint it so that it will look good for a long time?Thanks in advance!
- Now he is a pro painter lol...In all actuality..if you refinsihs a antique chair like this...The value of it will decrease sometimes by 70 or 80 percent..i would take it to an antique dealer first and have it appraised..and ask them about refinishing...may I suggest also..when you ask a question here..and some of these people state they have done this or that for so many years...click on thier profile and check some other answers they have answered ..lol..I have seen some of these people a pro at things for so many years..that they would have to be 190 years old to do so...I hope I have that much energy when I am 190 years old!
- Q: I really like the look of the Eddie Bauer high chairs. I really don't like plastic high chairs because they just look cheapy to me. For those of you with the EB high chairs, do you like them and which model do you have? Any recommendations? Thanks!
- i liked the eddie bauer too. but ive found that my baby just needs a little booster seat that attaches to our regular dining chairs. if you like the look of not cheap i would say just to get a booster with tray. that way its not a completely seperate chair. my baby girl is 7 months and loves her booster sitting and sitting next to us. i feel the high chair is an expense that can be avoided. if you just want to have one, i def like it the best :)
