Many of the best office chairs have a knob that will raise and lower the seat, levers that will adjust the back forward and backward. and another lever that adjusts the seat forward and backward and plump (just like in your car but in a different manner). If the description of the chair doesn't say it will do all of those things you probably should skip buying it because it won't have it if it's not in the description.

- Very good question...I wondered about this in the past too. The reason chairs and seeks are together is a combination of all of the answers above. It's easier to monitor, has less distractions,and is less expensive. The main reason is the cost to make these desks and chairs is very low. The schools want to save as much money as possible and when they combine desks and chairs this saves them literally 50% of money. Anything we try to combine almost saves us time and money. You know how it is when it comes to saving money, time, and efficiency any business or institution is willing to comply. - I recently conducted a wedding where the set-up was similar - and because the tables were very long it was impossible to move them away. So we turned the first row of chairs round so the people sat with their backs to the first table and added to the row the chairs on the other side of the table, and then moved the chairs at the other tables so the people at each table were essentially sitting on the one side of that table with their backs to the table and facing the ceremony area (for a ceremony people can sit much closer together than they would for dining) and then after the ceremony people just took their chairs back to their own place. Worked well.

- I gave up on my kneeling chair last year. I tried the ball chair also, and it was about the same. I finally bought a standard desk chair which was designed to support the lower back. I trained myself to sit with my back snugly against the back support and my feet strait down at a 90 degree angle. Then I limited my desk work time to 30 minute intervals, taking a 5 minute break between, in which I would walk around. My back problems have been mostly eliminated. My opinion, for what it's worth is that the Ball Chair and the Kneeling Chair are not the answer to solving low back pain.

- No I don't really like gliders. I was fortunate enough to be given not one but two nice old rocking chairs. I can honestly say I haven't used either one very much though! I almost always nurse the baby on the couch with a nursing pillow, or in bed laying down.
