- Q: Okay, So if any of you have seen the 'True Life' episode (I Have Embarrassing Parents), I want my room to be like Niki's room..If you haven't, her room has a light blue color on the top part, white chair railing in the middle, and a brownish color on the bottom..My question is..Do you think that would look good?Do you have any pictures that match my description?I can't find any..Also, around how much does chair railing cost?Is it hard or easy to install, if I don't have it?Thanks.!
- Haven't okorder / anyway, once you have the moulding you just need to measure (twice!) and cut the moulding with mitred edges (that is a 45% angle that makes it look like the two pieces continue around a corner seamlessly) you can get mitre blocks for about $5 from a hardware store, and that ensures you get a good cut, but please test your cutting on a scrap 1st!!!
- Q: Can you rent wheel chairs in disneyland and how much are they???
- i think so yeah and i think they are free...
- Q: I bought a hanging chair at the market, but I'm not sure how to attach it to the ceiling without it falling down when somebody sits on it. Help please!
- Before you attempt to hang this chair, you need to do the following: 1) Use a stud finder to find the floor joist 2) Once you find it, find the center of the joist 3) Take a drill and a small 1/16th drill bit and drill a pilot hole into the joist. If you see wood in the shavings, you are good. Otherwise you have not hit the joist. 4) Take a lag bolt type hood and screw it into the joist. At least 3 should be in the wood. The deeper you go, the better. 5) Hang your chair. Good luck
- Q: I've play flute for 8 years now, piccolo for 6. Last year when playing for chairs I got 2nd chair. I got absolutely no solos nor piccolo parts. Being my sophomore year, I didn't mind all that much. Our flute section leader was first chair. Now this year she is drum major. We played for chair with a new band director and I got 2nd chair once again, while she got 1st. I've asked to challenge but I don't know if I will be allowed to or not. When I asked last year I was gently told no. Saying all that, every time we have played for chairs I knew for a fact that I could easily beat her and become 1st chair but the band directors keep giving me 2nd. I don't know what to do. I know for a fact she's planing on once again not giving me any solos nor piccolo parts. It's really bumming me down. What should I do?
- Here's a story. I was in high school, in the late 70's early 80's. A tall guy, playing flute in band. Pretty good too, as when all others were mastering smoke on the water I was trying to dig into the works of John Coltrane. As with you, I knew I could terrorize the the 1st chair flute position, yet I was never a wise guy. In my case, it was favoritism, as I played circles around the first chair occupants through my years in high school. I know this to be true, because 20+ year class reunions often reveal some history..funny stuff. My band directors didn't like the fact that what they were trying to teach, I and a couple others were well beyond. One guy who really got the raw end of the deal, by these same band directors, is a world famous trumpeter currently. Yes, encouragement is suppose to be a quality of teaching yet isn't always there. And..It is possible you may not actually deserve it...yet! Maybe the band directors are approaching and dealing with you wrong or visa-versa. Maybe the first chair occupant is a bit better by some fashion, maybe not. You being your own judge is tough and maybe not as accurate as you think. In my situation, I had a somewhat overwhelming amount of adult professional musician folk disclose some positive opinions of my playing back then. If your case is similar, just ride the wave. If your case is dissimilar, just ride the wave. If music is a strong desire of yours, high school may have only a minor if any influence. There are many other venues, if you have skills and determination, you'll get it your story out. Plug on! Cheers and good luck.
- Q: I mean there are thousands of beautiful and esthetically pleasing chair designs, so why is this one considered so iconic? And the knoll's price of $4000+ for a chair?? RIDICULOUS!
- You have to look at the chair in its original context. Look at other furniture from 1929 and you won't see anything else like the Barcelona chair. Mies van der Rohe and Lily Reich were pioneers for designing this chair from heir choice of materials, minimal lines, construction (stainless steel had just been developed). When properly built to original specs, it takes a lot of high quality materials and skilled labor to produce -- around 28 hours of labor is involved. $3900 is not much for 28 hours of labor considering all the sales people, craftsmen, managers, suppliers, delivery people, laborers needed to build and move one chair. Plus all those people require work buildings, offices, insurance, cars/trucks, phones... etc. $3900 only gets you the cheaper model, there is one made of higher grade materials at $6,000. When the chair was originally designed, it did not sell for that dollar amount, the price has been adjusted for inflation, but it still was not cheap back then, it is and will always be an exclusive item. Surely, the chair can be mass-produced by machine now and sold for cheap at Target, but then it wouldn't be an exclusive item anymore. BMW and Lexus could cheapen their products for everyone to have, but then, why bother? There are Corollas and Ford Focus for the ones who don't want to/can't spend the money. By the way, it's not a simple chair at all, it's very complex, it just looks simple because in the past 7 decades, other chair designers were inspired by that iconic design. It;s iconic because it was ground-breaking, an original thought at the time. To say it is simple is to say paper is simple... yes it sort of is, but it took humans millions of years to get around to inventing it.
- Q: This chair is $10 less, but in some of the reviews it says that its a hit or miss - you get a lopsided chair or a good one. Also, this chair has shipping costs.
- Second one, I like it...
- Q: Hey, so I bought a wing chair from goodwill, I'm going to clean it, but the fabric is ugly, and I want to put new fabric on, how do I go about doing this?
- Re-covering a wing chair is a job for an expert upholsterer so i wouldn't recommend it for a first project unless you're a great seamstress already. However, you can make a passable slipcover for it. Choose a soft but sturdy fabric in a solid cover or small or large print (no stripes, medium scale prints or plaids -- too hard to match patterns). You'll need about 6 yards, at least. One cheap way to get a lot of fabric is to buy bedsheets or fabric shower curtains. I made a nice chair slipcover years ago from two heavy cotton large tableclothes, 60 x 120 each that cost me less than $15 total. Wash and machine dry your fabric first to pre-shrink it. You can either make paper patterns by smoothing brown wrapping paper over the areas of the chair and cutting the pieces to fit OR just smooth the fabric over each area (the back, the seat cushion, the sides) and cutting the pieces with an inch on each side. Pin the pieces together over the chair with the good side of the fabric towards the chair and the seam edges out, then sew the seams together. Then turn the slipcover right side out and slip it over the chair. Sew woven tape ties or ribbons at the bottom edge near all 4 legs and tie them around the legs to keep the cover from riding up or slipping. If the seat cushion is removeable, make the cover to fit the chair with the cushion off, then make a separate slip cover for the seat cushion with a zipper or velcro to close one side. If you go to a fabric store, some of the pattern companies (like mcCalls, Butterick and Simplicity) have patterns that give instructions for making slipcovers like this -- your local library probably has upholstering guide books too. Good luck with your chair!
- Q: Last night my husband and I both fell asleep on the couch in our den around 10:30pm. everything was fine when we fell asleep but when i woke up at 5am on the couch and woke him to go up to bed, we walked out into the extended part of our living room and found a chair that was moved from one side of the room to right in front of the den door. we both swore to eachother that neither one of us moved it. it is just really freaking me out. what was it?
- a ghost?
- Q: These kind of chairs are used in art and animation academies. but i don't have much informatioin about it. Not even the correct spelling.
- They were used for half-drowning witches. Why they would be used in art nowadays, I cannot imagine. It might be DONKEY chair, which is a normal chair with boxes built under the arms, and/or on the back, for storing equipment. (Because of how donkeys were loaded with packages). It must have a more modern name, but I do not know it. This makes more sense for places where you have to keep small tools handy.
- Q: I am looking for a computer chair that is best for comfort. My budget is no more than 60-65$ and I want a chair with arms. This is a Christmas gift. Thank you.
