Q: It is going to be lounging chair, for T.V. or something, though I am going to glue pieces of styrofoam together, then carve it out...with my *** grove, and maybe a cup holder or something...Though I have questions....1. I know styrofoam is not always going to be the strongest thing, so what should I use to re-enforce the strenght of this chair? Wood, or some sort of plaster?(Did I mention that I wanted to cover it with some sort of hardening agent?)2. What types of insulation should I use? (I was thinking of something that is comfy, though does not have much resestance...like it would embrace the but, not push it back. Possibly foam with an over coating of fluff...or something.)3. Outer fabric, What feels comfortable? Fake leather? or something?...4. What is a cool accesory to a chair(i.e. cup holder, Compass)You don't have to answer all the questions, you can answer one....Though I want some ideas or something...: The fact that most people call it a chair! but if you want we can open a new web site and send messages to people all over the world not to call it a chair anymore. we could even ask the goverment to step in saying that the word chair is very rude and it would be politcally incorrect to use that word ever again. But i can guarentee that someone somewhere would still call it a chair. Thats what makes it a chair!!!

Q: When my mom was a toddler, she had a rocking chair. When I was a toddler, it was my chair. My little sister never used it because she never stayed over at our grandma's house, where it was kept. When I was a little older, it was my dolls' chair. Now my sister has a son, and my mom wants to give her the chair for him. Whose chair is it?: If I was in your shoes, I imagine I'd say to my Mom: IF (your other daughter) had a history of showing appreciation for heirlooms things, I would consider giving them the chair. However, everything she's ever had has been ruined by neglect or misuse. Let's get (her grandson) his own rocking chair . . . and consider insisting on paying for it yourself, or at least contributing towards it. I think that would be the best route to take. Hopefully your mom doesn't get her feathers wrinkled too easily. You are the one with the sentimental attachment to it, so --I feel-- probably ought to be allowed to keep it. Plus . . . If your grandmother gave it to you --or, if your mother once gave it to you-- it is still yours. Parents often give their kids things with 'strings attached' --in their hearts-- that the children don't learn about until later . . . and feel that as long as they are alive it is their 'call' who gets possession of said gifts at any given time. Hopefully your mom is more understanding than that! Talk to your mom about your feelings . . . all of them . . . but do so with gentle tact --even if it is already technically otherwise yours-- so she will know the reasons behind your desire to keep it. That may help her to accept it. Especially if you are gung ho to get the boy his *own* rocking chair.

Q: I got a beautiful new oak rocking chair as a gift and would like to make a chair pad for it. I have a sewing machine and have some beginner sewing skills. Any simple patterns or ideas would be greatly appriciated.: You need to cut 2 pieces of fabric. Cut them the shape of your chairs seat, only make them about 4 inches wider/bigger all the way around. You can use a sheet of newspaper to make your pattern. Then turn the fabric right sides together and stitch~start at the back of it, but leave about a 3 gap in the center,sew from that point around the side, the front and the other side until you get back to your gap. Then just stuff it with some poly-stuffing, and hand stitch the gap/opening closed. You can also make you a couple of strips to tie it onto your chair if needed, or buy some heavy duty matching ribbon or trim. If you don't want to make one, you can always buy a ready-made chair pad too:) Just a tip....by the time you buy your fabric, thread, filling, etc..it's just about cheaper to buy one:) Unless you already have your materials;) Good Luck!!

Q: Anyone else does this? After about 10-15 minutes of sitting on a chair, I notice my butt is right on the edge, so I have to stand up and sit again properly. Getting very annoying.: Lol i do exactly that!! i think its probably that our back is too straight when sitting properly, so we adjust ourself unconciously to sit more comfortable although is not good for the back. But you have to stand up and sit properly again as that position starts to get uncomfortable. An on going process!! Lol best of luck.

Q: Hi, i had a chair a long time ago that was the shape of a shallow bowl and was made of wicker and roughly 5 ft in diameter. I have found similar chairs called saucer chairs but none of them with an independent base or made of wicker. Q: How to create and arrange a simple and fun game for my elderly patients which mobility bounded by chair or wheel chair?thanks for the help: Balloon Volley Ball.Divide your patients into 2 equal groups in a line facing each other about 6 feet apart. Inflate a good sized balloon with air and use it as the volleyball. They can easily hit the balloon back and forth and no risk of injury. History trivia games... choose some trivia that is from their earlier days or history in general. Give points for correct answers and have a simple prize for the winner. You might want to make ribbons as the awards, giving to top 3 highest scores. Plant a garden. Start by having them work at a table filling small peat cups with potting soil and planting the seeds in them. Then place the peat cups outside in a location where they can be seen by the patients when they go out in their wheel chair. When the seedlings are big enough, plant them in the ground so they can watch them grow. You could use vegetable seeds so they can enjoy having fresh veggies from their garden when it grows. Have a Parade. Help them decorate their wheelchairs with balloons, ribbons, stickers, silk flowers, what ever you have available. Stage an indoor parade, going down the halls. Everyone will get a kick out of this, even the patients that are not in wheelchairs enjoy watching the parade. You could choose a holiday themed event like St Patricks Day, Valentines Day or a Hawaiian Luao, 50's... I also planned a family reunion, inviting their families to come for one afternoon and bring all the grand-children, it was a real hit. Invite the local elementary school or high school to come and give a performance by their band or chorus group. Also a big hit and the schools are usually very willing to participate. Hope this helps. I worked as an activities director in a nursing home many years ago and this was by far the most rewarding job I have ever had. They really appreciate what you do for them.
