The best solution is to have them powder coated.It's a little expensive but they will last ten times as long as a paint job.Look in the yellow pages for someone who can do the job.

This chair design looks pretty simple. You can remove the old material and use that as a pattern for your new material. Take your time and have the tools handy; tack hammer, stapler, etc. Also,, most communities have adult hobby classes at their community colleges and just may have one in upholstering where you can bring your chair in and work on it with supervision.

Q:I started with one chair. I sanded it first, then wiped, and let it dry, and then i put stain on. And I see a few spots that seems like I didn't sand very good. So, the color is uneven. plus the chair has a plywood part on a back of a seat, it turns pretty ugly. What should I do? Let it dry, and sand it again, then stain it? Or let it dry, put primer and paint over it? CAN I pait it?

you can paint it, but you'd need to sand again anyway or the paint will look bad, too. best is to dry, re-sand refinish. it was what you wanted in the first place anyway, right?

I would talk to your friend about the issue. At almost 500 pounds, he has to be aware that he's going to be too heavy to be rough on household furniture. Let your friend know that you don't own the world's sturdiest, iron clad chairs. Make it clear that you'd appreciate any care he can take when he's sitting down on or gettting up from your stuff. Track down the sturdiest chair in your house for him to use. If that's not an option or he already broke that one, then he's stuck with sitting on the couch. If the couch is too low for him to sit down gracefully on and he may break it or your couch is old as dirt and can't take the strain, then a bean bag may be his best bet. Talk to your friend about the issue and try to be understanding. Ask him if he'd be comfortable in a bean bag or if he knows of another safe solution to sit on. This is a big guy who's probably been heavy most of his life so he should be able to handle the situation gracefully if you're polite and supportive.

Q:does anyone know what a wavy looking lounge chair that was big in the 70's and the 80's is called... they were furry and the inside was made of foam ....you use them inside probably in the living room or den. i have seen one or two a couple of years ago and am looking for one now but don't know the proper name to call them so it has been real tough finding one when i don't know what to ask for. also, if you know what i am talking about, can you tell me where they sell them and maybe a website or phone number....

Q:Our toddler is a very quick little guy and him accessing our desk is a large problem. The problem is our son being able to climb the desk chairs and possibly fall off of them. We have huge and heavy metal chairs but that doesn't stop him from pushing them out and climbing to pull the keys off my husbands laptop. Is there a special device that could keep a chair latched onto a desk when not in use?Moving computers and closing doors aren't options since we live in a studio apartment.

Get rid of your dangerous chairs and replace them with stationary chairs that are less likely to injure him. Get him a little table, chair, and toddler computer and tell him he can sit there, and to not sit at your desk chairs. Give him time outs any time he gets on your computer chairs. Once he's trained to not get on your chairs, you can return the original chairs if that is more comfortable for you.

Q:I fell in love with a dining set I saw on Macy's website but it's a bit out of my reach. It has four different colored parson chairs: beige, deep orange, burnt and moss with a round glass table. I have been searching online to find these colors but I can't. It would be great if I could find these colors in parson chairs and then I could go look for a glass table anywhere else.
