Q: I am a GCSE Art student and currently working on a still life based on chairs. For my coursework, I need to include an artist reference that relates to my still life. What artists have used chairs or furniture as a theme in their work, or in a series of pieces?
Hi! okorder /
Q: Resume help!Represented clients as first and second chair in a variety of civil litigation mattersorRepresented clients as first and second chairs in a variety of civil litigation matters
chair. I think the issue is the distinction as to whether or not the representation was on two different occasions, one being represented as first chair, the other represented as second chair, when joined by the conjunction and they would take the singular chair since each occasion would be treated as a singular event: e.g. Represented clients as first chair in a variety of civil litigation matters. So, context becomes somewhat subjective here. If the representation at the same time was as first AND second then one could say: Represented clients as first AND second chairs (ergo, simultaneously) in a variety of civil litigation matters. EDIT: Exactly...that would be my opinion on which one to use, either chair or chairs.
Q: I have an english project due very soon, its a role play thing called town hall, we pick an issue, which is bad roads in our town, then we get a role, mine was a person in a wheel chair, so i need to know, do bad roads effect you in any way, like having to avoid pot holes or anything, repairs to your chair? anything will help.
I am not permanently in a chair, but was for a while due to an injury. I was stuck with the hard wheeled variety.. I felt every bump, and the terrain had to be quite smooth to facilitate independent travel. People having chairs with pneumatic tires are less likely to be affected by road hazards. You see people buzzing around in parking lots and on roadsides all the time with motorized wheelchairs and scooters. That said, bad roads would make it challenging to get around, they can handle a certain level of ill-maintained roads, but they have their limits. When your tires are only 6 inches in diameter, an 8 inch pothole causes trouble. Try to think about this from their point of view - noticing the size of curbs vs clearance of the chair, etc.
Q: parson chairs are the poplar chairs that come with wood tables, they are almost always black or brown leather.
Parsons chairs have become so popular there are many different styles and fabrics made into slip covers. I have even seen them covered in plain white cotton, just screaming for a slipcover. There are even patterns to sew your own in fabric stores. Try looking for both. Also, if you have basic sewing and stapling tools, you can do upholstery on them yourself.
Q: I have some chairs that have cushions down half the back and on the seat. I want to recushion the top and make it wider and the cushion go all the way down to the seat. (Turn them into Parsons chairs) What would be the easiest way to do this?
I would use foam, wledbond, plywood, string, buttons and fabric. First measure the base of your chair at the seat and figure out the hieght you would like the parsons chairs to be. If you chair is 18 wide at the base, and you want them to be 24 high, then you would need your plywood to be 14 x 21 high {approx.}. You can get this cut for a fee {usually} at any lumber or home improvement store. Take the lumber and attach it to the chair with weldbond and clamps {and l have no idea of your chairs but weldbond works on metal and wood} or anything that will hold it tight while it hardens. Let this be glued firmly and completely dry...for extra security you can tie with rope {it will be covered with the foam} . Get some 2 {or more} thick foam and cut it so you have one long strip that is 50 long by 28 wide. Now on the inside seat part of the back of the chair, take a staple gun {or if you have little hands like me, use a nail and hammer} and attach string every four inches or so in a grid layout} Now take the foam and make holes with a knife or sizzors to line up with string. Take your weld-bond and spread it evenly over the plywood {be generous} front and back. Take the foam and lay it beginning on the inside bottom edge, pulling through the string as you apply it to the glued surface, bring it over the top, and then down the back of the chair, you will have excess on the sides and final bottom edge, but this can be trimmed later. leave to dry on the floor lightly tie and hold in place with string. Take fabric and cut to the same size, drape it in the same manner, making holes and pulling through string Attach with upholstorers nails. Tke the string and attach big beautiful funky buttons. They will look fabulous!!!
Q: Can a handicapped person be allowed to take an (International) airplane? He is paralysized in one side of his body and needs to ride a wheel-chair.Would business class seats be recommended? Any requirement on the companion? Any accomondations that can be expected from the airlines, e.g. UA, ANA, American?
Yes, a handicapped person is more than welcome on any flight, domestic or international. Just be sure to tell your ticket agent so they can help accommodate any additional assistance that might be needed, and plan accordingly.
Q: i bought this zebra chair from Rooms to Go but i realized that i dont want to do the zebra theme anymore. i want to try and reupholster this chair with a lilac cotton fabric, but I dont know how. HELP!This is what the chair looks like:
Take careful notes of how the old fabric and stuffing etc. comes off and then put the new fabric back the same way.
Q: They look like pilot chairs from a chopper and you sit back in them with the screen tilted in front and the keyboard in front of you.
The Aeron chairs made by Herman Miller are very popular (also very expensive) as computer chairs. They are designed for extended occupancy and comfort by allowing them to adjust in several directions. About $800-$1000 per chair when I last priced them. There are executive leather chairs for $250-$350 that I find sufficiently comfortable.
Q: I'm starting my own chair cover business like for weddings or graduations etc...Does anyone have any advice for me? Does anyone here run a chair cover business?
I'm with yojoe... this area is in a serious slump. Before dumping a lot of capital into it...I'd start looking around (If you haven't done so already) to existing businesses, pose as a client...and see if you can acertain a) how busy they are b) would your costs be effective/competitive? c) is this something you can run without retail space (giving you a larger profit margin, less overhead...and perhaps a better price for your client). Are you able to deliver set up on time? (transportation will be key) How else can you tastefully set yourself apart from the competition? What other services could you offer to nail more of this market? (think tables chairs, if they're your chairs...chances are the covers will always fit) I'm not in the business, and I'm probably talking out of my ear...but this is what I thought of... take what you can use and discard the rest. But do be careful...the rest of the country isn't doing too bad, but here in SE michigan, we're hurting bad. Look around at all the closed businesses. Office parks are empty... it's awful. But people are still getting married, there's still funerals, etc. To be successful, you gotta have one or more of -great service, great price, good product-. What about hooking up with an event planner? (s)
Q: Recently, I bought a chair at Wal-Mart, and they assembled it for me. Recently, I noticed there were about 5 or 6 tiny little bugs crawling on the back part of it. I killed them, and I can't see anyone, but they are very hard to see on the black surface of the chair. I'm trying to figure out where they are coming from. Any ideas?
Well honestly if you never saw the bugs before the chair then I would just take it back to Walmart and tell them the problem. There should be no reason you can't get your money back or exchange it because like the other person said it could be the material or it may just be the box it came in or where it was stocked. I wouldn't risk your house filling up with nasties over a chair. Walmart is normally understanding about things. Either way good luck.
