Q:have you ever installed solar panels for your home?
Yes I have. We have a little Labrador on the front steps(you know, a thing to hide keys under.) In his mouth is a little lantern that absorbs the solar energy from the panels and it turns on at night. Really saves you money, much more than regular electricity. The bill won't be so high this way, oh, and it's also good for the environment
Q:What is a good solar panel to buy?
If you want to go cheap, Harbor Freight Tools sells a 45W solar panel kit for under $200 (minus storage batteries). You could buy 2 and be roughly at your desired wattage. I don't own one but they get decent reviews.
Q:if you put solar panels on cars, you'll be able to drive without gas in the summer and part of winter?
There Part of the problem of putting solar panels on a vehicle is that at almost no time is the orientation for the panels correct. You would not consider putting solar panels on the shady side of your house, or not tilted and aimed properly. This is because solar panels are expensive and you would like to make sure that they are as efficient as possible. A better plan may be to put solar panels on your house and buy an electric car. Have the panels feed power into the grid during the day where you can be paid at the higher daytime rates and then charge your vehicle at the lower night time rates from the grid.
Q:will a 5v 52watt solar panel charge four 2c dv 55ah batteries?
Technically, any solar panel can charge any battery, but it would take quite a long time do do so if it is a large battery. If you are aware of the voltage and either amp or watt rating of the unit that is usually used to charge the battery, the solar panel should have a similar power output to that charger to work well. amps and watts are quite similar, and can be converted with this simple formula: W=watts; V=volts; A=amps; W/V=A; V*A=W; When charging batteries, it is always wise to use less amps than needed, and roughly the same voltage as the battery being charged. The less amps used to charge batteries means the battery will take longer to charge but will last a lot longer in the long-term. Your solar panel should be sufficient to charge the battery, but you should test charge it to see if it works well. I recommend using a multimeter to check the batteries voltage every couple of hours. Once the battery reaches 2v, it should be fully charged. You should also check the amps in case they are not at the expected value (take caution when checking amps with a multimeter, when i do it i always end up melting my multimeter leads). The battery should be fully charged from anywhere between 6-48 hours. if it is charging faster, the solar panel has too much power. if it doesn't charge in this time frame, the solar panel is not powerful enough.
Q:Why do people use solar panels?
I doubt the immediate economy has much to do with it. Solar panels require long-term investment, so in hard times, someone having trouble making ends meet is not going to be buying solar panels, when they could be buying food. It's like if someone has a gas guzzler, if they get laid off, they're not going to spend their savings on a new, fuel efficient car, even if it saves money in the long term. However, it's generally the more wealthy that install solar, and they're not impacted as much by a slow economy. Human nature being what it is, I doubt many people install solar to save the planet. There will be some, but I suspect most are interested in the long-term financial savings. I'm kind of unusual, in that our panels are break-even financially at best. The main reason I put them up was for the fun of learning and doing it.
Q:How can a solar panel work for me?
Yes, it can. Now what do you expect out of it? It can reduce your electric bill by some amount. That amount depends on how many solar panels you install and how sunny your days are. You have to pretty much cover a roof to get a substantial electric reduction. There are 2 companies where I live that have installed solar panels and covered most of their roofs with them. They've reduced their electric bill by about 30%. It's expensive to do this. Don't expect a fast pay back. In fact you may save more by using solar heating panels for hot water than by using solar electric panels. I think it's cheaper as well.
Q:Is there anyone trying to create a cheaper and more efficient solar panel?
The most cost-effective solution, which the vast majority of new installs use today, is solar alongside the regular power company. That way, you need no batteries, and if the solar array isn't producing enough at any given time, you draw from the electric company. When the array is producing more than you need, instead of just throwing that power away, the power company buys it (usually). In short, yes, you will still have an electric bill, but a smaller one. On our house, the electric bill was a little less than $5 a month, with an end-of-year settlement of an additional $2. How much does it cost? Unfortunately, that's like asking how much personal transportation costs. Some people need a van to transport the kids to soccer, some may get by with a motorcycle, others may need only a bicycle. The best thing is to contact a professional installer to get a quote based on your location and electrical usage. Solar electric does not make financial sense in all areas. Our array cost $2,000 but don't use that as a guide. Yours might be 0 times that, or half that, depending on your area and needs.
Q:What's the best deal for Solar Energy panels for your home?
you have been very mislead by someone. Or ? did you listen to a Obama speech or something ? EDIT ; thanks for response via e mail. But if you think you can save money by, renting solar panels , then you are a very ignorant person. The only way that a scheme would would work ,is if the company that is leasing the panels to you ,,have bribed lobbied the local or fed politicians to get subsidized to provide the panels. then they get payed to install them and guaranteed to make a profit by the gov. for green energy that is why you have to pay 25 cents , while most people pay 0 cents , because you subsidizing all the profits of these Professional thieves. Who's job is to find new ways to get into that deep pool of public dollars,,tax dollars . Question for you .. Do really think the rented solar panels will? ) pay for installation 2) pay for the cost to buy the panes 3) pay the sales commission to the people that sold it to you 4) pay the on going commission to those that over see them 5) Add to that the higher rate on your elec bill to pay for these people to be subsidized , so they can rent you some solar panels ??????? Like I said ,,,,,,,you must be very ignorant about energy. Or very Ignorant about the thousands of companies that are formed to succk tit of the tax payers. You are ignorant on both of those points. So dont get piisssed of at me for answering your question !!!!! Instead , you should ask why you are so easily led ? Why you are so easily fooled by the users ? That is those that use the gov to use ignorant people like you. HAHAHAAH. And you fell for the whole scam without even realizing it That is why I use the word ignorant ,, because you are. If you dont know what ignorant means google it to find out. because you are,
Q:I would like to know mire about solar energy ?
Why don't you just call a solar energy company and ask them anything you need to know, or check out websites- they usually have page with faqs or info. The company I used has lots of info on their website and they were very helpful.
Q:Why don't we design a wind-turbine with solar-panels on it?
Good to know someone is thinking and coming up with original ideas, so thanks for contributing... Put a large powerful solar collector on the end of the turbine too i.e. facing the sky! Far as I know, solar works on day-light (doesn't have to face the sun). So your idea is not to be put down. Metal blade turbines - are heavy - wooden windmills - heavy... so some added weight to the wind-turbine's paddles would be OK robably. Great if solar device not made of glass (so unbreakable). I think panels on the roof are old hat...
