She was very parinoid and had althimers, therefore, I don't know if she took the money out after I left or not. Also she has a lady who looks over her-and she's basically gotten power of attorney over her. So bottom line, My question is-how do I go about finding out if the account is still there or not. There isn't i don't believe unless you can get hold of something the bank would have sent to your aunt. Sometime within those 20 years the bank would have sent your aunt something in respect to that account, and if the account was in your name when you hit i think 16 any statements would have started to be addressed to you. Check your credit report, they should list all accounts that are open in your name!

Q:can my ma in law still able to sign cheques once she has made her son power of attony. there are cheques being paid to various people who we can not acount for, ma in law is 96 and finds it difficult to remember where the cheques have gone.

Once he has the power of attorney he can have the bank require either his or BOTH his and hers on the checks. That way she can't sign alone. The simpler solution is to not leave any blank checks and instruct the bank not to issue new ones without his approval.

Q:I am considering buying a house owned by a bank that has been on the market for quite awhile. The house needs a lot of work. Without going into a lot of detail - I have enough to pay 100% cash - does that give me more or less bargaining power with the bank? The house needs a lot of work and if I could get the house for much cheaper then the extra money could go to fixing it up. (The house is being sold for about half of what it is appraised.) Is the appraised value your talking about from before or after the repairs are made on the house? Paying cash will give you a lot of bargaining room, I would also think about putting a pretty good deposit down on the house and offering them a closing time of say 2-3 weeks. Banks don't usually tend to come down on their houses that much, we usually see them come about 10% at a time here in Florida, but that does not mean that they wont. The longer the house has been on the market, the better chance you have of getting a better deal. I would offer about 75-80% of what its listed at and expect them to give me a counter offer on the price. Start as soon as possible though as there are probably other investors out there who might be thinking the same thing! Good luck Edit:.To sunrise above: its not very often the bank who is selling the home is also the bank who would write a loan for the home for an end user. Only maybe about 5% of the time does that even come into place. The bank wants to get rid of the home, they are not in the business of holding onto homes. What lowers your barganing power is financing a home. Then maybe after 5-6-7 weeks of the buyer trying to get their loan approved, it falls out and the bank is back to square one.

The wave power is not a good option for the Great Lakes. Although you could generate some power, I don't believe that it would be a viable option for the cost to energy produced ratio. The waves just don't have the umph as the ocean. Of course, if you had the capital for the wave power, given enough time you could pay back the investment easily. Wind power though would be great solution there. Wind power provides more energy than our current solar-power technology, and you can be charging your battery bank overnight, as well as during the day.

Yes, it is. All circuits contain some degree of inductance and capacitance in addition to resistance. In a normal circuit, on alternate half cycles, the inductance and capacitance take and return power to the source. They are called reactive loads. (Of course, if you are charging a capacitor bank, they only take power until you are ready to use it.) Resistance only takes power and can usually be thought of as the actual work being done. It is measured in watts while reactive power is measured in volt-amps (and, as that implies, includes the true power as well as the moving back and forth power). However, reactive power (and current) is physically real even if not thought of that way and circuits have to be designed to carry it back and forth, not just with the true power in mind.
