- If you are using latest Linux Distribution the phone gets detected as USB Modem when you plugin through Data Cable. You need to configure it by using wvdial configuration utility. You need to be a root user for this. The command is as follows: wvdialconf /etc/wvdial nf If you are using Ubuntu use sudo: $ sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial nf After configuration is done you need to open the configuration file through the following command (again as root: gedit /etc/wvdial nf or using sudo on Ubuntu $ sudo gedit /etc/wvdial nf Enter phone no to be dialled, username and password after sign in the relevant fields and save the file. For connecting use the command wvdial or on Ubuntu $ sudo wvdial

- I looked up the specifications for the Nokia and the phone does have bluetooth capability. If your computer has bluetooth you can pair them up and when they are paired you right click on the file you want to send and scroll down to where it says send to and click on the bluetooth device of your cell phone. Otherwise you have to buy an USB cable.

- You can NOT do that with just a data transfer cable, but the cable will not supply power to the drive. It only transfer information. What you need is a hard drive enclosure. It is a small box that you place the hard drive inside. It then has a USB cable that plugs into your laptop (or desktop). The USB cable supplies the power to the hard drive. Once in the enclosures, the hard drive will function as a external hard drive. You can plug it in, and it will show up as another drive (like an E: or F:) on your computer. You can then copy off anything you want. You also have the option, once you have copied your data, of formatting that hard drive and then continuing to use it as an external hard drive permanently. Enclosure start in the $30 range for a cheap aluminum one (good for one time data transfer, but not recommended for 24x7 eternal hard drive usage as they can overheat) to $75-100 for one with a cooling fan, to several hundred for one with fancy neon lights and other extras. Considering that a decent external hard drive will run you $100 or more, the enclosure is a cheaper way of not only recovering your files, but getting an external drive at the same time. Since it is a laptop drive, you will want a 2.5 inch enclosure, rather than a 3.5 inch designed for the larger desktop hard drives. And if the laptop is more than a year old, you will want an IDE connector (rather than s SATA). Good luck

- Your 'desktop' probably is not finding the phone as the driver is not yet installed. Your 'desktop' will try to find the phone as it would with any other device or hardware you try to connect, add, or install. The sofware you downloaded should contain a driver that will allow the 'desktop' to 'recognize' the phone and the instructions included or on Motorola's website should be able to walk you through installing the driver.

- If it's a peecee then you will have difficulty. The computer will need setting up for the network and that is tricky without a monitor. If it was any other kind of computer you could hook up a null modem cable and use a serial console but that is one thing PCs simply can't do.
