Q: One switch is old and I want an auto switch in the stairwell. Can i add just one auto switch to the pair of three-way switches? Currently there is a switch on the top and one on the bottom of the stairs. I want the bottom one to have a motion sensor switch.: different poster is authentic, there's a time-venerated difficulty with the wheel bearing/sensor and the wiring harness. i could use a snapon vantage or another form of oscilliscope and do waveform attempting out appropriate on the sensor itself earlier changing something.

Q: had dead batt now it‘s gone crazy when i went to jump start it the alarm went bannanas but hear the problem bought the truck used and had no idea it ean had an alarm to get it to stop the noise i cut the horn/siren now the blue light flashes all the time never flashed b 4 and its makeing a quite clicking noise like every 30 seconds .so with no remote what would you do btw its a 1999 burban: is it an after market alarm or is it factory fitted to the car? If it is factory fitted you should be able to get a remote from the manufacturer, if not, your gonna have to remove the alarm system. can be tricky because there are heaps of wires hooked up to the control module.

Q: I have a 2000 Toyota Corolla that the check engine light came on and every time I go to advance auto parts to check what it is saying system to leanI get them to take it off and it come on again.I decided it was time to change my spark plugs and airfilter. It still came on again. I went to take it off. Guess what? It came on again.I am thinking it could be something wrong with the oxygen sensor or the catalytic converter(which is not easy nor cheap to replace!!!).Anyway, it costs $85 to know EXACTLY what's wrong with it at the Toyota DEALERSHIP?!! should I take it in? I really don't totally trust these people because they usually try to milk your pocket and get you to change things you don't need to change!: A Lean mix can mean 2 thing one not enough air or fuel., Need to get a code scanner from your local auto parts store and see what code its pulling, then go from there.. Imo you have cover'd the spark plugs and filter and did you do a intake cleaning? if not do that you just spray it into the Butterfly after the air tube..Changing the fuel filter isn't a bad thing to do it will keep the fuel injector clean and running great. Once you have don't all the basic tune up maintenance and your still getting the same code then IMO your getting a bad injector and sould be looking for and miss fire code and it will tell you what cylinder. hope this helps...

Q: I got a PO446 Evaporative emission system vent control circuit thru Check engine light from Auto zone today, where is this mysterious fix? 1999 Toyota Corrolla: You are looking for the evap Vent control solinoid. Every manufacturer puts them on the charcoal canister, near the gas tank. Diagnosing the evap system on a car can be a pain even with the right tools, so keep that in mind when you are not successful. Just make sure you have a good gas cap seal and no cracked hoses at the charcoal canister before you start tossing parts at this. Otherwise, you might be consumed by the very ill-tempered sea bass.

Q: For MIG and Flux core welding, do you need a differently rated shade. We have a # 10, and don‘t know how to tell when we could need a darker shade like a 12 for example. Somewhere we read about looking at a bare light bulb to see if you can see the outline of it as an indicator of needing a darker shade. We are just learning about welding and would like to know when an auto darkening system is better and how to pick a good one.thanks: Light enough to see the puddle and the path to weld. I use a 9 for all welding. Most people use a 10 to 12. You do not need a different shade for different types of welding.

Q: just got a 2000 civic si, and when i want to turn on the radio it wont start when i turn the key to the first turn. It always turns when i turn the key to where all the lights turn on where the speedometer is. My friend told me that it might have to do with the alarm system i have, Viper alarm. Q: ENGINE LIGHT ON AND WON‘T PASS EMISSIONS IT IS NOT IN THE MANUAL OR 20.00 BOOK I BOUGHT AT AUTO ZONE IT ‘S DIAGNOSTIC PRINTED OUT THIS MESSAGE OF A MALFUNCTION OF THIS PART??? HELP: That depends on which part of the system you need. The most common problem in that system it the secondary air injection pump. It is located under the vehicle kind of in a little corner between the frame rail and crossmember. Because they are under the truck, they tend to get dirt, debris, and moisture in them which causes them to go bad. Another common failure that we see where I work is people drive the vehicle through deep water and the pupm gets full of water and shorts out. Anyhow, there are other parts to the system, but that is the most common to fail.

Q: I just bought a used 2000 Chevy Blazer 4WD. The service engine light was on and they (i took it to auto zone) ran the diagnostics check on it and told me that it was the EGR Valve. They said first take it off and clean it with intake valve with carb cleaner and a wire brush. I did that and it came back on. So the next step was to buy a new EGR Valve. I went back to autozone and bought one, came home, and put the new one on. the light was off only for about 10 mins then it came back on again. However when i had the old EGR valve the light would go off every now and then but then it would always come back on. Im not sure if there is a short in any of my wires or what else it could be. What should i do next?: It could just be the sensor. Get it checked again now that you have the new part on. Or you might have a different problem that caused it to come on. (lol, one car I had, the engine and abs light would come on after a hard rain.) Resetting it like that should fix it then. See if that works. If not, it might be the sensor. Edit: If the light is still on after you tried to reset it by disconnecting the battery, you might need to have it reset or replaced. And you really shouldn't do that with newer vehicles. You can mess up the other computers in newer cars. You can use a scanner and reset it from there.

Q: Went to the dealership where I bought my Hyundai Tiburon. My ABS light stays on. They brought it to the back and told me it was my speed sensor on my right rear tire or front tire and it needed to be replaced. Does this sound right? I figured it would be an o2 sensor. Also, they are wanting to charge me $300 to fix it. Are they fairly easy to fix if I did it myself?: If you thought an O2 sensor could set off the ABS light, then you really shouldn't be thinking about replacing a wheel speed sensor yourself.
