There are lots of things in a lot of foods that would make people cringe. It makes you really wonder about disease and why a cure for many are never allegedly found. Think about it. It's all about the almighty buck and not the health of people. As for China, being that the U.S. government just had the big thing about lead in Chinese made toys and other products, it make sense that the Chinese would attack an American empire like McDonalds. But yet American retailers buy and sell so many products from China. Why? Because it's so much more inexpensive and also very cheap in quality. Remember it's all about the almighty buck. The so-called global economy will be the downfall of the world eventually.

Q:I have a main oil seal leak on my 98 Dodge Caravan. I would have it repaired, just have a new engine put in, or buy a new car, but I don‘t have the money right now for any of those options. I have never liked the idea of using additives but if it could put off the inevitable a while longer, do I have anything to lose? I have two people in my life telling me two different things. My dad doesn‘t believe in using additives and says they cause more harm than good. The other person says some additives are actually good and don‘t harm anything. They said Lucas was a very good one, as well as a couple others. What‘s your take?

Use the additive, all it is is oil with an additive that makes the dried out hardened rubber seal absorb the oil and expand, creating a seal again. when I was a mechanic we use to use brake fluid for the rear main seal leaks. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, it depends how bad the seal is. put it in and don't tell Dad you did it just to stop him from nagging :)

I find that many foods I pick up tend to have the Kosher and Parve seals.I became concerned recently when some of the ingredients have changed in some of items I buy. For instance, Cheerios (they are Kosher) has Tripotassium Phosphate in it as well as questionable sources of vitamins. Some other food items that are labeled as either both or one (Kosher/Parve) also have questionable additives.Can someone please share any information they have regarding the Kosher/Parve dietary laws regarding whether or not foods are considered clean or not based ALSO on the additives and preservatives which may be in them? The issue withKashrut is not how healthy or clean it is- that is a common misconception. The issue with Kashrut is if it adheres to the laws in the torah- and as further defined n the talmud in masechta Chullin and in the Shulkhan Aruch n Hilchot Issur v'Heter. When it comes to additives, the same rules apply as to other foodstuffs- they have to come from a Kosher source or the food into which they are added is considered to be unkosher- the discussion on this issue centered on the issue that if something is only a tiny fraction of the whole, it does not count. However, this is only the case if what is in the minoriy does not have a quantitative or qualitative effect- but as food additives are designed to create specific desired effects even in small quantities such exemption does not apply to them. So, if soemthing has a reliable hecsher on it, then it should not contain any additives from an unkosher source. Where you need to be careful is with Kosher certification from Conservative rabbis. The issue here is that there is a conservative ruling whereby they state that if something has been so heavily processed as to no longer resemble the original it loses its prior designation. One example of this is that they rule gelatine is kosher regardless of origin since it is so heavily changed from the original. Thus you find that in unreliable hechshers and in those from the Conservative movement there are frequently additives that will be from questionable sources.

An Additive is anything that is added to food. This can be -- Colors Preservatives Vitamins Minerals Stabilisers Anti-oxidants Flow Agents Process Agents and others A Preservative is a special kind of additive that preserves the food. The popular preservatives are Pottasium Sorbate, Sodium Metabisulphite, S02 etc Normally the level of preservatives is around 150-300 ppm. The preservative preserves the food by retarding growth of Yeast, Moulds, Bacteria etc So all preservatives are additives, but all additives are not preservatives !! Additives can be Natural or Artificial. For example Natural Colors are graded as additives. Sugar and Salt are not additives as mentioned in one of the posts. They are food.

Q:I have heard that they are not and the necessary bacteria is there from the human waste dumped into the tank. There are numerous sites that say additives are necessary and of course those sites recommend you buy it from them. So is there ever a reason to use them and which ones if any are good and which ones are scams?Also I know someone who says they haven‘t had their tank pumped in 10 years and it still works fine, but every septic site says to pump your tank every 1-3 years. Will the bacteria in a well maintained tank naturally destroy the solids making pumping unnecessary?

Root killer has to go into our lines because the lines will get half way stopped up. Water will come out onto the ground. And an odor will come up the drains. Rid x is put in 1 time a month. It eats the crap in the tank. It puts enzymes into the tank. If all this is not done the tank can back up into the house. We were lucky ours backed up into one of the bath tubs. Horrible. Bleach cleaned the tub. Bleach is not to be put in a septic tank.
