Q:I have a lower back problem and my normal chair is not helping.

Your best bet would be to go to your local retail outlet and test-drive the chairs they have there. Everybody is different and what works for one person may not work for another. I get lower back pain, too. I have found that pricey executive chairs tend to start hurting after only 45 minutes while I can sit in a cheap task chair for hours before getting sore. On the occasions I have to sit in a high-back executive chair I usually roll a jacket or towel up and put it behind my lower back. It helps.

Q:I live in a large apartment complex which has large private pool for residents. Most of the people in the pool are kids. There is always one lifeguard on duty. There is a 6 foot high lifeguard chair, but the lifeguards all refuse to use it even though it is in excellent condition and allows them to see all corners of the pool from high up. The lifeguards sit on a lawn chair next to the side of the pool, about 7 feet from the pool. When the pool is full of rambunctious kids, it is impossible for the lifeguard to see all the kids from that angle.Can someone give me an official definition of the purpose of an elevated lifeguard chair so that I can file a formal complaint and have this matter dealt with so the kids are safe. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.Thank you

yes, its a good idea.. this is particularly important at a one-lifeguard facility where an elevated stand provides a much better view of patron activities than the view you have from a deck-level lifeguard station

The first chair is called a mushroom chair. They're usually fabric covered rather than plastic. The second chair is more attractive (in my opinion) but neither looks comfortable. The first one would make your legs get all sweaty gross, however, fabric covered mushroom chairs are usually very comfy.

Q:i have these wooden chairs that have dried peeling paint i need to get off so i can stain them. there is no varnish or stain i can see, just old paint. Is sanding it off the best way to go? are there sanders small enough to get into the corners and grooves? i am pregnant, so chemicals are not an option. thank you!

Yes you can sand it off. But it is very time consuming and labor intensive. Wear a breathing mask, dust particles from some paints can be more toxic than the chemicals from strippers. You might want to put this project off until the baby is born. But if you wear a good breathing mask this will protect you from inhaling any harmful fumes. Even if you decide to use a stripper you will still have to do some sanding into the fine corners and crevasses. They make a lot of attachments to hand held tools for fine work (A Dermal ). They also make a small palm sander called the mouse that works well for most crevasses.

Could be Non-Frost Susceptible, meaning the chair is rated for outside, cold-weather use without damage to the batteries. That's my best guess.

Q:What is the difference between wheel chair accessible cabins on cruises and non-wheel chair accessible?My partner and I are not handicap and I have been assigned a room that is wheel chair accessible.Can I ask the cruise line to change the room? Or it is not that bad?

No, you don't need to change it, it will be fine. It only means that the door openings might be a little wider to accommodate a wheelchair going through, especially in the bathroom, there wont be any steps inside, and their probably will be a handle in the shower stall. Other than that I cant think of what else might be different, but you don't need to change your room.

Q:I'm very recently very interested in the old abandoned ski areas. I was wondering if anyone knew of an old area where lifts are still up? or even if the chairs are set on the ground that would be ideal. I'm looking for old chairs to just really get a good sense of the old technology that was used on these old mountain/areas. I've had some great success with finding rope tows and Poma lifts, however chairlifts are hard to find really with chairs still attached! Any information would be great. Just a hint. I am NOT looking to take these. I have found old Poma Bars, T-Bars, and old rope tow handles and always abide by the rules of the area. I have taken ONE T-bar, and asked the mountains owner for permission to take it. I don't know how I could fit a chair in my little Ford Taurus either! Thanks in advance for anyone who will be giving information on an OLD mountain with some chairs attached or lying around!

Ok I'm sure you've checked already, but I was at Babies R Us this weekend and they had a ton. They even had this adorable soft Dora couch. I would try their website. Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America has a few shops with everything Dora you could imagine, entire bedroom sets with a Dora bed, sheets, wall art, table and chairs, etc.-But if you don't live in Minnesota it may not be an option.
