- Q:i needed regrouting done on the paved edges of my swimming pool, the guy i hired done the job but he didn't clean the pavers afterwards properly so now there's a very slight film of cement grouting washed over the pavers - it makes them look slightly powdery. He said it would wash away but since then there's been heavy rain a few times but it still hasn't come off. What do you suggest i do to remove that residue? I thought about hydrochloric acid but I was worried it might damage the natural sheen in the pavers? what do you think...............
- back set is a cement dissolver by romix u find it at most stores .... its even used on cars so they dont get scratched we were doing concrete in between the pattio bricks on my new patio to fill em in and had that problem... it works great... it wipes away clean
- Q:What is the density of cement?
- I will answer your question directly, then answer the question I think you are asking. Cement is a gray powder that is mixed with water and aggregate to make concrete. Cement and concrete are 2 different things. Cement is to concrete as flour is to cake. With that said, cement (the powder) has a specific gravity of 3.15, which means it's density is 3.15 times that of water. Water has a density of 62.4 pounds per cubic foot, so cement has a density of 196.6 pounds per cubic foot. If you actually mean concrete, which is the hard grey stuff, then it has a density of about 150 pounds per cubic foot. Hope that's what you were referring to.
- Q:I have 2 hatchling red ear sliders and have a small tank but i'm in the process of building a cement tank for them. I wanted to know if cement tank is safe for them and do I have to have water plants in it?
- Cement will leach lye into the water; I highly recommend that you do not use cement for a turtle enclosure.
- Q:can you please give me 10 points...
- Below are some reasons why cement industries are important. Cement industries produce Portland cement which is a prime ingredient of concrete for buildings, bridges, canals and roads. For example, The Atlas Portland Cement Company in Hannibal, MO produced much of the cement needed for The Panama Canal and the Empire State Building. Cement is also a key ingredient in stucco, grout and mortar. At the turn of the century, some cement companies also attracted a lot of immigrant workers especially from Europe which in some cases produced new towns or added people to existing towns and helped boost the economy. Modern cement companies rely more on machinery and technology than large labor forces. Cement companies also create quarries which can serve as wildlife habitat when the company is finished with the site. Some cement companies also burn hazardous waste for fuel (which is a good thing as it keeps the hazardous waste from being dumped or buried).
- Q:I am makeing something for my mother and I wanted to set a picture in a cement stepping stone. If I can't do it with cement, then I was thinking of plaster of paris. Now that I want to do this project, I don't know how to go about doing this. HELP!!!
- Let's see... I think plaster might be too fragile. You know, you can mix equal parts of plaster and cement. It'll set quick enough, and be strong enough. Because, cement can take days to set properly. With the mix, half an hour, tops. The picture alone will probably get ruined, like putting paper in water. I'd keep it in a frame, or glue it in later. I'd leave a space in the stepping stone so when I put the picture in, it'd lie flat, not on top of the stone. Inset. Then I'd cover it with plexi-glass. A lot of hardware or craft stores will sell little sheets. In fact, maybe I'd just make the stepping stone into one large picture frame. I'd use something of equal size and make sure that I used a lot of release (wax, soap, grease) and some pieces of wood to make a mold, where you'll pour in the mix. Make sure you coat anything (table, boards of wood) in release that you don't want stuck to the mix. Then it's just a bit of thinking and testing to find what will work.
- Q:I am studying for an exam and I desperately need information on placement issues and pumpability in oil and gas cementing. Thanks in advance
- You okorder ). Most of the published information has to be purchased through the Society of Petroleum engineers. Off the top of my head, some of the issues are being able to pump a heavy viscous fluid like cement across under pressured formations. You have to apply enough pressure to move the cement, but you have to stay below the fracture pressure of the rock formations. If you don't, the formation will break down and the cement will flow in to that zone, called a thief zone, and cement will not make it all the way up the casing. The other issue is keeping casing centralized in the wellbore so that cement will be placed evenly around the casing. If the casing is not centered, then the cement may not might not completely encase the casing, leaving void spaces where channels can form, where oil and gas could flow.
- Q:Now, my husband and I were expanding the patio on two sides. The cement was dumped and we started to smooth it. Then it started pooring down rain. While we tried to protect it, water still puddled in some places, leaving dips in the finished work. Also, the new concrete is a different color than the old. Is there any way to smooth out these dips effectively and make the cement all the same color? I know that adding a thin layer on top would only leave the finished work to chip and crack, so I'm wondering how to go about completeing the patio.
- I think you've got about 3 options. The easiest would be to put 2 of new concrete over the entire thing, old and new. Use a 3/8 aggregate in the concrete instead of the bigger stuff. The only thing you need to be careful of is how this lines up with your door (can you fit 2 of concrete on the top of the patio and under the door to the patio?) A slightly tougher approach would be to use a vinyl/cement mixture (you can buy them at Home Depot or a better version at a masonry supply company). You can spread these very thin and they will still be solid when cured. They are tough to finish nice and have a tendency to look a little streaky when done though. Or the best approach might be to jackhammer out the whole thing and start over. New concrete will never be the same color as old stuff because it changes as the concrete cures and weathers. Sorry, wish I had a simple fix.
- Q:Do you know anything that can be added to detergent?
- You need to remove the cement while it's dry before washing. Hit the area with a hammer to break up the cement. Then vacuum. Brush the area with a stiff scrub brush. Vacuum again and maybe use a lint roller. After you've removed the cement, THEN wash the clothes. Good luck. -
- Q:how many bags of cement will i need for a12x12 patio?
- 80lb bags of concrete.
