Firstly, screw people who jump to the 'DON'T DO IT!' conclusion. The only tip really is... exfoliate. buy an expensive accelerating lotion (they sell them at the tanning salon). and go twice a week. It shouldn't hurt your hair. A 20 minute bed is the cheapest, as long as you tan fairly easily in the sun, it's all you will need. Super pale people usually don't get much out of the tanning bed. Maybe a shade or two darker on their stomach...

More than likely, it isn't eating it's bedding just chewing and gnawing on it, which is okay, because most bedding that is made for guinnea pigs, rabbits, hampsters and other small animals are going to be non toxic to them. However, I have found that the best option for bedding for my guinnea pig is aspen shavings. Be SURE not to get pine or cedar because the oils on them can be harmful for their respiratory system. Aspen shavings can be bought at most pet stores or Petco, it is pretty affordable, and also helps alot with the odor. Good Luck, Hope that I've helped.
