- Q: How do solar panels impact the aesthetics of a building?
- Solar panels can impact the aesthetics of a building in both positive and negative ways. On one hand, when designed and installed properly, solar panels can enhance the overall appearance of a building by giving it a modern and eco-friendly look. Additionally, the sleek and reflective surface of solar panels can add a visually appealing element to the design. On the other hand, some people may find the presence of solar panels on a building to be visually unappealing, especially if they disrupt the architectural harmony or contrast with the surrounding environment. Ultimately, the impact of solar panels on a building's aesthetics is subjective and depends on individual preferences and the integration of the panels into the overall design.
- Q: Hi, I have in my sailboat 2 2 V batteries. I would like to buy solar panel(s) in order to recharge them. As i am in mexico and there is always high sun . i think it is a good idea.Usage of the batteries is very light . I have found 5-2V pannels with 80mA that fit in the sailboat. I want to know if and how i can have like 5 to 0 of them set together to charge the batteries and what other material would i need.also, i would like to know what happend if the pannels only send on 5V in a 2 V battery? Is it still charging but on 40 % of the capacity a 2 v pannel would charge or its just not doing nothing ?
- Taken at face value, it would take about 55 hours to re-charge a dead flat battery. However, you don't get 24hrs/day sunlight. Even worse, the output from a panel is only maximum when the sun is at 90 degrees to the surface. Let's assume you can find some way to track the sun. No battery should be allowed to discharge below about 50% so we can halve the recharge time. I would say about 4 days.
- Q: What does it take to install the solar panel? Cable wires to power source or fuse box? Anything else? How does the cable wires stay on the solar panel?
- How does the cable wires stay on the solar panel? With wire retention clips (4 per module) that are used to wrap the wire on the underside of the module frame. The home run cables to the transition box (converts between types of wire with no electrical transformation occuring) or combiner box (joins multiple source circuits in parallel, with the positives fused for safety) are usually tied along the racking system components, and with conduit sections used as needed. Racking is another big part of the installation. Don't just make your own homemade wooden rack, as these will weather away to nothing very easily, and cause great failures. GET a professionally designed metal racking system. PV modules are EXPENSIVE. Don't let the racking system cause them to break. It also requires the inverter, if you intend it to connect to the main electric service. If using multiple inverters, you need an AC combining panelboard to join them prior to entering the main electric service. Otherwise, you need to think about how else you might be using them. If you are charging batteries, you need a charge controller.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on a swimming pool?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on a swimming pool. These panels can be used to heat the water in the pool, reducing the need for traditional heating methods and saving energy costs. Additionally, solar panels can also be used to power pool pumps and other equipment, making swimming pools more energy-efficient.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed in a remote location?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed in remote locations. In fact, remote areas with limited access to electricity grids can greatly benefit from solar panel installations. Solar panels are designed to operate independently and generate electricity from sunlight, making them an ideal solution for off-grid locations. They can be installed in remote areas such as deserts, mountains, or even on boats, providing a reliable and sustainable source of power.
- Q: What is the average lifespan of a solar panel?
- The average lifespan of a solar panel is typically around 25 to 30 years.
- Q: If you want to instal solar panels...how often do you have to replace them?
- My panels came with a 25 year warranty. I will have to replace the converter ($000) at some point, 2-5 year mark. I should breakeven within 6 years thanks to great rebates in my area. I've heard that they lose some efficiency over time, but I know people who have had panels for over 0 years and if they have drop off some, it isn't noticable.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on asphalt shingles?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on asphalt shingles. However, it is important to ensure that the shingles are in good condition and can support the weight of the panels. Proper installation techniques and mounting systems designed for asphalt shingles should be used to prevent any damage to the roof.
- Q: Can solar panels be used in remote areas with no access to the grid?
- Yes, solar panels can be used in remote areas with no access to the grid. Solar panels generate electricity from sunlight, making them an ideal solution for off-grid locations where traditional power infrastructure is unavailable. They can be installed in remote areas to provide a reliable and sustainable source of energy, allowing for essential power needs such as lighting, charging devices, and running small appliances even in areas far from the grid.
- Q: How do solar panels affect the roof's integrity?
- Solar panels generally do not affect the roof's integrity when installed properly. In fact, they can even extend the roof's lifespan by providing protection from elements like sunlight, rain, and snow. However, it is crucial to hire experienced professionals for installation to ensure proper mounting and sealing, avoiding any potential damage to the roof.
