You don't have to completely cover the area but about the skin from one orange for every 2-3 square feet. This works on cats but I'm not sure about dogs.

- I'm going to be honest here...my dogs don't get a dog bed unless they earn one. They earn one by not destroying it. I might give them an old rug to lie on...but that is it. If they are in the stage that the chew everything in sight...they are confined to a crate with no bedding. My little black and tan Cavalier likes to rip out stuffing of her bed...she gets a carpet square in her crate and she leaves that alone.

- I got my bed from that site. It is a safe site however i wasn't too happy with it. Since I had to put my bed together they forgot to send the screws to put it together. We ended up calling a number that had few hours for service and it took days until the screws came. I do love the bed though.
