Q:are biological solar panels possible?

Q:What happens if I put a 00v, .5A solar panel on a 2V, 450cca Gel deep cycle battery?
The solar panel is capable of /2 Amp output. If you hook it to a 2V battery directly and the battery is discharged it will want more than /2 Amp and pull the voltage down until the battery is charged to a certain level. Eventually the battery will try to charge up to 00V which will definitely damage the battery. If you use a regulator circuit running off the solar panel that outputs 2V then you will have a constant voltage circuit which will still be limited to /2A or whatever the regulator is capable of outputting. Of course you can't just go out and connect 00V to any voltage regulator it has to be capable of running from 00V and dropping the voltage to 2V like the original charger that comes with the battery. The same explanation applies to a 72V battery. You have to limit the output voltage to 72V or risk overcharging the battery.
Q:How to connect 2 power supplies together? (Solar panels)?
You have to look at the power output of the cell. The first consideration has to do with voltage. A single cell with no load might output one volt or less. Wiring cells in series would double that output, at least in theory. (Internal resistance will lower the actual voltage.) You've wired the cells in parallel, however. Try unsoldering one electrode and then measure voltage output of each cell. There is still the issue of current output. I don't know if there will be enough with your setup. How many cells are there and what kind of batteries were they charging?

Hey E Girl, photovoltiac panels are pretty simple. They start with a solid block of silicone, and shave thin layers off of them, called wafers. Once you have about 72 of them, you take half of them and dope them with boron, then the other half are doped with phosphorous. Once that's done, they take one each phosphorous and boron wafer, and glue them together with a special conductive epoxy glue, and attach a wire to each wafer. When the two glued wafers are exposed to the sun, a reaction occurs that forces free electrons from the silicone particles from one wafer onto the other, and a voltage is generated between them, about /2 volt to be exact. Once all 36 pairs are glued together, they are wired in series, connecting the phosphourous wafer from one to the boron wafer on the next, and so on. If you start with 72 wafers, you'll have 36 pairs glued together when you are done. At /2 volt each, that makes a 8 volt panel, which is used to charge a 2 volt battery. The charging source always has to have a few more volts than the battery. These 36 pairs of cells are then arranged on some kind of back board, glued down, covered with acrylic glass and mounted in a frame. Solar Panels in housing developments is not being used because it would add $25,000 to $40,000 to the price of the home. Most people in the USA don't understand that after a few years the solar electric panels will start paying them back. It is not just the upfront cost. People would rather spend that 40K on somthing smart like a new corvette. Which has no pay back at all then something stupid like solar electric and helping themselfs or the rest of the world. So if the builders were to add them to the house people would just buy from another builder and the one adding the solar roof tops would just go broke. The State would have to find a way to credit the buyer or buider enough to make it worth it. Is it not more fun to spend millions on finding out where Anna Smith is going to be barried? Or maybe billions on top of billions on War? If we had spend the money on solar that we have spend on Iraq alone we could have put solar on every roof top in the whole USA and had few billion left over. Think about it.. 200 million people in the USA with three to a home would be 66 million homes. It would have only cost 528 billions dollars to put a kWh Solar Electric system on each house in America. But that would be stupid. War makes more money. We don't want Exxon to go broke do we?

Yes, you have it right you need two 2V panels wired in series to give 24V to charge a 24 volt system. But along with the 24V you also want some amperage, otherwise it takes forever to charge. Most of the little chargers are called trickle charges because they only have an amp or two. If you had two 25 watt solar panels putting out 24V you have : watts = volts * amps 50 watt = 24V * x amps x = 2 amps If your battery is say 50 amp hours of storage, then if you are putting in 2 amps it will take you 25 hours of sunlight to power it back up from a dead battery. So the charge time depends on how many amps you are putting in there at 24V A car battery charger typically charges at 0 amps at 2V, so 2 * 0 = 20 watts of power going in there So if you go solar make sure to use a charge controller and a big enough panel to get close to 00 watts for any decent recharge time. The charge controller makes sure that the battery only gets voltage going one way and it least 24V. So if the sun went behind some clouds and the voltage dropped to 20V, the controller shuts off the current until the voltage equals 24V or more
