Q: I got my industrial pierced on august 17th of this year. About 2 weeks ago this little bump formed on the outside of the bottom hole...i was wondering if i took it out to get it cleaned really good since its kinda hard to fully clean it would that affect it in any negative way? Its only been a month so im a little apprehensive about taking it out but it would only be for a couple minutes...please help!!!!!!!!!!: the bump on the out side is only because when the needle went thru it was pusshing cartlidge or bone out. kindaof bending it. aventually. after a acouple mounth the bump will settle down and go away, just clean the hole twice a day and keep ur hand and hair off of it so that it can heal as quickly as possible without infection =) hope that helps

Q: I just got my scaffold piercing done today and everything went well. I was just wondering how long the healing process would take? Does it vary with different people? And is using sea-salt and warm water the best way to clean it?Cheers x: Congrats on the new holes. I found with my industrial healed very fast (4-5 weeks). The sea salt and water works but I would recommend JJ antiseptic wash. Its pain free and has a little better germ killing ability. Also try not to sleep on that side for a while because sometimes the pressure will impede the healing. Good Luck.

Q: Ok so i got a scaffold ear piercing about 6 weeks ago and by the two holes where it has been pierced its gone like lumpy an also at the top end of the piercing some skin has come down streched sort of so does anyone know if it will properly heal and the lumps go or does it stay like that? an is there anythin i can do to help it?: I used to have a scaffolding piercing but it didn't work out and now I have little bumps at where the 2 holes were. I recommend going to the doctors just to be safe as they will be able to give the best advice, I don't think you would want to end up with bumps on yours like mine. I hope this helps :)

Q: Hi guys!...ive had a scaffold piercing for a little over 2 weeks and when i got it done it bled quite alot...this obviously made some scabs...but every time i clean it the scabs come off and its starts bleeding again...and just before i posted this i found abit of puss like fluid round the back of it!I clean it twice a day and avoid touching it What have i done wrong :(Plus my mum is now like quot; i told you so quot; LolCheers :): Ear cartilage piercings generally take longer to heal than lobe piercings. This is often due to a combination of things, such as the location of the piercing in the cartilage, the type of jewellery used and the tension that jewellery creates to the structure of the cartilage. Using biocompatible plastics (like PTFE), cleaning cartilage regularly, and increasing your intake of minerals will certainly benefit your piercing; however a piercing will almost always be doomed to failure if improper jewellery and poor planning are used and left unmonitored.

Q: I have had a scaffold piercing since october last year(2012) and I don't think it's healing very well I clean it 2-3 times a day and twist it every now and again but it just keeps going red and saw I'd there anything I shoud do (btw I'm 14 and I live in the UK near London area?)And neither do I have keloids and it also scabs up a little still and hurt and burns, I use salt and water in a mug and clean with cotton buds.: Scaffold is a cartilage piercing and cartilage piercings need 1 full year to fully heal if treated properly for the whole healing period. They are nothing like other piercings, they are not easy to heal and they have their ups and downs while doing so. They can stay irritated, swollen and painful for long, bumps can be formed around them which also can get infected. All this goes away after proper care but can happen again days or even months later. So you need to be extra careful with it and follow your piercers after care instructions by the book if you want to keep yourself and the piercing healthy. You need to do sea salt soaks 2 times a day for the whole healing period and never stop. How to do : Warm water (8oz) + non iodized salt (1/4 teaspoon) mixed in a cup. Soak the piercing in for 10 minutes, 2 times a day. Use a q-tip to clean around the piercing thoroughly, rinse with water and pat it dry with a paper towel. Until the piercing is fully healed don't : Touch it, twist the jewelry, play with it, sleep on it, change the jewelry or take it out but only touch it with freshly washed hands to clean it. Do not twist the jewelry. If a piercing is freshly cleaned it can easily slide in and out with the slightest push. Some kids mistakenly think that if you don't twist the jewelry it will somehow get stuck to the skin and never move again. This is a bad myth and can never happen. If you keep twisting the jewelry the crusties that are naturally created and attacked to the jewelry will keep scratching the inside part of the piercing ( the actual wound ) causing trauma again and again, irritating the piercing and dealing the healing process. A new piercing , especially cartilage ones need cleaning, time to heal and avoid touching.

Q: im 15 and i really want scaffolding, but i was wondering if it hurts like looooooads... has anyone got it done? did it hurt alot? and also can it get infected real bad?: How much it hurts depends on your pain tolerance...it's different for everyone. I didn't find mine to be that unbearable. The top (second) hole hurt more than the first but aside from that it was just a bit sore while healing just like all cartilage piercings. If you get it done by a reputable piercer and take care of it properly it shouldn't get infected.
