- Q: So I need to tap a few wires, and cut 1 wire and join it with another wire..What would be the best way to approach this? Here are the full instructions so you guys have an idea on what I'm trying to do.quot; On the TAN plug there is 1 ALL PINK(E7) wire you need attach the WHITE wire from your relay to that but don't cut the PINK wire just tap the WHITE into it.Next go the the GREY BCM plug there are 3 WHITE wires.
- The instructions seem pretty straight-forward. T-Taps and squeeze-connectors are basically the same thing; achieving the same results, which is to add a connection to an existing wire without interrupting the line. Just make sure you use the right size and type, meaning; don't use a low-voltage connector for a high-voltage application... You'd just fry it up. For the cut wires, I'd use crimp-connectors and some shrink-wrap. Again, using the correct connector. You can use wire-nuts, but the crimp-connectors are a more permanent fix. Good luck to ya.
- Q: Blue and white wires contain insulated strands and red wire has a bundle of non-insulated strands. How are the two types of wires (insulated and non-insulated strands) used in homes (i.e. what are they used for?).
- that query is slightly large. It quite relies upon on what you're utilising the cord for. even if that is carrying electric powered contemporary, the insulation will prevent unintentional contact with the present, which could effect in damage to someone or unintentional contact with floor, that could want to effect in failure of the circuit. if you're doing something else, like making a bucket deal with out of cord or utilising it to tie something on your vehicle, the insulation would grant you with a better acceptable grip, which may be better secure in its own correct.
- Q: I just read an article about a man who was electrocuted by a live overhead wire while trimming a tree. Horrible. My question is I see squirrels running on all the overhead wires. How do they not get electrocuted?
- Electrocution happens when electricity finds a way to ground. Squirrels are not grounded so they don't get shocked. Ever watch the Discovery channel? They've shown how the power company works on high voltage lines without shutting the power off. A helicopter hovers next to the power line while a technician reaches out to the power line with a probe. Once contacted the helicopter and the technician are at the same potential voltage so nobody gets shocked. However, during approach they are NOT at the same potential. That's the reason for making contact with he wire with a probe first. So that the technician doesn't take a big hit when he first touches the live wire. So squirrels, birds, rats - anything that can land on the wires doesn't get electrocuted. But if an animal touches the wire AND ground (or another wire), it's all over in a blinding flash. Hope this helps. 'av'a g'day mate. '')
- Q: Would crepe paper stick on chicken wire?
- Crepe paper needs an adhesive to make it stick to a surface, such as white glue. However, it gets messy once dampened, as the colors may bleed. Instead, I would consider working with paper mache or plaster gauzing strips, which would provide a strong skin over the chicken wire. Both can be primed with gesso then decorated with acrylic paints. If this is a sculptural piece you want to keep, we would also suggest varnishing it for protection.
- Q: my dogs have chewed my central air contactor wire.my ac will not cut on. does anyone knows how to replace them and where to buy replacement wires locally( i live in Dallas TX.) i would like to do it myself instead of spending a lot of money.
- You shouldn't need to replace the wires, only splice them back together, color to like color. If you decide to replace them, they are 18 gauge. Depending on the unit that you have, there may be 2, 3, 5, 7, or 9 wires. Install the wire in 3/8 flex to prevent a repeat. Lowes and Home Depot will sell you the wire by the lenght you need. Ask for jacketed wire.
- Q: Just need a wiring diagram link that shows all wires and possibly steps on installing an aftermarket stereo.
- Q: I know there must be a difference, and reason why some wires have a solid strand behind the rubber, or some have several strands. can someone explain to me how it works and the differences in wire. m trying to get my head into electricity. resources would be good too.
- you ask a fairly broad question first, the larger the wire, the more current it can handle as far as stranded wire, it flexes more during use and vibration and heating, etc. the solid wire is the smallest size and most accurate diameter if that is important such as high frequency
- Q: True or False?Branch wiring from a 200A - 3 phase 4 wire panelboard.WIRE #PHASES 1 --- PHASE A 2 --- PHASE B 3 --- PHASE C 4 --- NEUTRAL - WHITE WIRE 5 --- PHASE A 6 --- PHASE B 7 --- PHASE C 8 --- NEUTRAL 9 --- GROUNDTOTAL OF 9 WIRES GOING TO SIX (6) 20A 120V CIRCUITS
- False! If you had 6 120v circuits each circuit has 1 phase, 1 neutral conductor and 1 ground conductor for a total of 3 wires per circuit. 6 circuits times 3 conductors equals 18 wires. You don't use the same neutral conductor for different phases but you can if they are the same phase provided you don't go over the maximum allowed current rating for that wire and insulation.
- Q: friend i want litz wire in this wire consits of group of enamled coted copper wire(like machine winding wire with multi lead wire),so i want types different guages(that each lead in wiretotal wire guage) and no of leadds.my pupose is for project wire for with standing wire capcity of 20amp's. please give information............................
- 20 amps is a lot. Litz wire's advantage is for use at RF frequencies, since RF current flows on the surface of the wire mostly. Linz wire because of the large number of strands, conducts RF much better that ordinary stranded wire or solid. Litz 175/40, 175 strands of #40, sells for $15 for 75 feet. #40 is 1.07 ohms per foot dividing by 175, that is 0.006 ohms per foot, about #18, which would not carry 20 amps. Ref has more sizes.
- Q: Replacing my 3 prong dryer outlet but there is a blk, red, wht, and a bare wire in the box. I know where the colored ones go on the outlet but what do I do with the bare one? I didn't remove the old one so I don't know how the old 3 prong outlet was wired with these wires. Thanks.
- I said it to you before, you basically have an illegal circuit, at least for a clothes dryer. There is no way to legally or safely use that for a typical electric dryer. You need to have it re-wired so that you have separate neutral and ground conductors, and with a four prong receptacle. A properly installed (complaint to pre 1996 NEC) 3 wire dryer or range receptacle will have a white insulated neutral or be an SEC with a bare shield as neutral. A white/black/bare NM-B was never permitted for such a circuit. Wiring neutral to ground in a receptacle simply is not permitted. Just don't ask why. You have your answer do not ask again. Nobody should be telling you to do something unsafe and illegal.
